Riddles! Puzzles! WhoDunnits! Adal Rifai, Erin Keif and John Patrick Coan, three of Chicago's most overrated improvisers, are on the case to solve every riddle, puzzle, brain-teaser, and head-scratcher known to humanity. Some riddles are almost impossible, some are absolutely improbable, and some simply have not aged well. And if you don't like riddles, don't worry! This podcast is barely about them!

    Sometimes it’s a fever dream
My favorite part about this show is when I start an episode, put it down for a couple hours, and come back unsure if they’re in the middle of a scene or just goofing around. I’m almost through the free feed backlog and then on to the patreon! Keep up the great work and pig orgasms!

    Everything Is A Puzzle
Riddle: Shorter than my sisters but stronger in loyalty. You can sometimes find me pressing a key. Just binged all the episodes in less than a year and have now started round two of this chaos. Hint: Pressing “A” key My brain has descended so deep into madness from these three that I wrote my own puzzle book. To see how far I’ve gone and to join me in this deep deep pit of trash riddle and chaos puzzle despair find me at everythingisapuzzle.com. Answer: Pinky Finger

    Love it!
Love this show, listened every day at work and during my commute for 45 days till I caught up and joined the 5$ clue crew for 100+ more hours. This podcast has me laughing at every minute and has almost enough piss drinking jokes. 5/5 stars Everytime Jay Johnson does an ad read i think its bill dance starting my fishing podcast so i change it back to hey riddle riddle and get confused.

    Thanks Riddidiots
The nightmares haven't stopped since I started binging this podcast. I recommend this podcast to all my enemies. Keep being amazing Erin, surfs up my guy 100%

    Happy brain chemicals
These comedians make my brain make more of the happy brain chemicals! Not only am I laughing all the time from Adal’s quick puns and wordplay, JPC’s exuberance and Erin’s stories from childhood (Whizie would have gotten along just fine with Aunt Maple. Totally did not just rip that off Disney’s Pocahontas). But they are all wise, kind, and genuinely good people. This podcast is one of my go to comfort places, and I’m grateful that I found them. I love all the episodes but Erin’s three part Hey Riddle City are some of my favorites, as I love a Noir movie. Then listen to the most wholesome and funny episode: Hey Nintendo Cafe. It makes me happy cry every time I hear it. Can’t wait to see Whirld News soon! PS Pierogi is my flame point Siamese cat, and he is as sweet and cuddly as he looks: @pierogithehimbocat on insta

    Oops.
I have been a fan of this show since my first listen at episode 7. I am lucky to work a job where access to headphones is constant, and I have binged this show more times than I care to admit. Every episode is a hug to the brain. 10/10 stars. Adal, the host of this show (big fan, check em’ out), mentioned in one of the Patreon episodes (big fan, check it out) that one of their regrets was not doing something to treat their ADHD earlier. Unfortunately this stuck with me and I found myself a year later in a psychiatric office, treating my mental health for the first time. What I had planned to be a visit to treat ADHD turned in to finding out I have been living with depression pretty much my entire life, and finding hope that life didn’t always have to be so grey and painful. This has had the unfortunate effect of no longer needing the headphones as often and I kinda stopped listening a few months ago - So… I guess good job and thanks? 5 stars.

    The ultimate fever dream
Riddles are the entry drug to this trio of hilarious comedians. These three are at their best when the show goes off the rails. You have to hit the patreon episodes for the best fever dreams I have ever heard. You haven’t lived until you hear Miss Piggy sing Bodies and if thats not crazy enough - the Disney Twins … won’t spoil that fluster cluck. Love everything you three do - keep it up!

    Not for human consumption
Would not recommend this product to anyone. It upset my stomach and gave me the same effect as I would’ve prepped for a colonoscopy. I have used the bathroom about 20 times over the past 4 hours. Every time I think I’m done I get the call. I have used a legit full roll of tp with no signs of stopping anytime soon. Also I tested my blood sugar after eating the gummy’s and it did spike me. Save your money and your bhole. DO NOT INGEST THESE GUMMIES INLESS YOU NEED AND ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL LAXATIVES. Hey riddle riddle? Love it!

    It’s a livin
I don’t know if I’d say they’re “funny,” per se? But I’ve been listening to them for six years (started with episode 1, my first year of grad school), and at this point I just don’t know what else I’d do with my Wednesdays and Fridays.

    No Flight Risk Here
My favorite podcast, even though it’s likely I’ve lost a friend or two (along with coworkers, acquaintances, maybe even family…?) after recommending it to anyone that would listen. Honestly some of the funniest people on the planet—Do yourself a favor and listen to a few episodes.

Also, I tried so many other things for the nightmares so you’re truly unique in helping me fall asleep and stay asleep.

    A podcast for trying times
Hey Riddle Riddle is a podcast that is perfect for cheering yourself up during trying times. Through pandemics, death of parents, and even divorces, listening to Erin, Adal and JPC really helps make me smile and puts things into perspective. Sure, bad things are happening in life, but at LEAST you’re not on a riddle improv podcast. Things could always be worse and you could be stuck forever with these three. At least you can turn off an episode and walk away, these poor s.o.b.’s have to go through every single second of every single episode. Five stars, highly recommended!

Came to laugh, stayed to cry
A show that’ll sometimes make you laugh but for the most part induces fits of uncontrollable screams and night terrors. Most your family and friends will cut you off, but you won’t be alone in your madness cause Adal, Erin, and JPC will be right there with you. Especially since I, JPC, am a local feral cat named Scratches that everyone is scared of but no one is willing to stand up to! I sneak into local businesses and steal all the flushers on their toilets. Anyway Erin is a goddess and Adal is god’s AKA my favorite.

    A Descent into Beautiful Madness
A friend introduced me to the show in March. I spent two months unable to listen to anything else. My brain turned to mush. I confused people around me by laughing at jokes they couldn’t hear. For several weeks, I made the show my shout out to the four people watching my Twitch stream. I made the mistake of listening in the car with my toddler, which led to him repeating many new words (I KNOW IT IS NOT A SHOW FOR KIDS. I cannot always be a perfect mother.). This show might mildly ruin your life; I cannot recommend it highly enough.
  • dabciel

    Minor risk taken
I don’t like having a whole lot of personal information out and about, and don’t have an iPhone myself, so I’m sending this via a shared work phone. Fingers crossed they don’t track this down, or figure out who is S_229, but feel free to say that much, and witness me if this gets me in trouble. The podcast is absolutely amazing, feeds my brainworms in just the right way, and it’s taken me a few years to get a review in, but it’s worth the risk doing so. Cheers from the hypercapitalist hellscape that I’m just kinda, like, over, y’know? I saw a comparison video of the 2012 debate versus this last one, and have given up hope for now. At least till the next episode comes out! Love y’all.

    Helped me pass a test
I hate to admit this, but the frequent lateral thinking examples presented by the hosts of hey riddle riddle broke my brain in just the right way. I had to take a certification test at work and I was able to successfully answer a trick question that helped me pass and I got a raise. I can’t recommend this as a study solution for everyone, but it helped me so who knows. Give it a try.

    11/10 would laugh again
Been listening since the first episode released and this show has been such an important part of my week ever since. Each episode is a delightful mess of clever puzzles, not so clever riddles, groans, and unhinged improv scenes. Erin’s ability to rap is delightful, Adal’s puns cured my depression, JPC has an innate ability to turn literally anything into pure chaos, Casey is basically a god, and Janet is an absolute treasure. That being said their dynamic is genuinely something to behold. Their flow seems so effortless and it makes you feel included in the humor the whole time you listen. 11/10 would recommend to everyone I know. Everyone…

    Life isn’t real…
On my way to work on a Wednesday morning I was trying to think of what cars my friends had in high school. Dodge Dungaroo? Dungaree? No, whatever I’ll look it up later. I get to work, turn on the podcast and 10-15 minutes in Adal mumbles ‘Dodge Durango’…..What? How? Life isn’t real, but this podcast is good.

On a road trip from Ohio to Texas with my husband and daughter because it seemed like a good idea in 2023 when we talked about it. Flash forward to now in 2024, and it turns out, not so much. Anyway, we’ve listened to Hey Riddle Riddle and Clue Crew for the whole drive there and back. Non-stop. In fact, we’re still on this road trip and still listening. There is no end. We’re trapped. My Favorite Podcast
This is hands-down my favorite podcast. I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of riddles, but I sure do get excited when I occasionally guess the answer before the hosts! Erin, JPC, and Adal are just simply some of my favorite people to listen to..

Many are funny, but few podcasts make me actually laugh out loud as often as this one does. Yesterday I was aliquoting some urine at work and nearly spilled it all over thanks to my shoulders shaking with laughter. Thank you for being hazardous to both myself and the people around me, it’s been an absolute delight. Much love!

Lots and lots of laughter! (Never said it was a good riddle). Thank you so very much for being you. Also Arnie Parrot’s songs are awesome! I love Review Crew. Keep up making Erin laugh. It’s contagious, leads me into giggles every time.

Audible proof of the second law of thermodynamics
If you go back and listen to early episodes of Hey Riddle Riddle, you may find that the hosts seem unenthusiastic about riddles despite their instant chemistry with one another. The format of the show wasn't yet established, and so there was little improv and a good amount of banter. The podcast has since become primarily improv, with prompts coming from the conversation generated by these often incomprehensible riddles. The enthusiasm for the riddles remains roughly the same. But while you may hear a fun and cute podcast episode about bad riddles, I hear a nightmarish entry in the anthology that really ought to be titled "The Entropic Consequence of Inane Riddles on an Innocent Mind". In the first few episodes of the show, Erin is often the least reserved in her comedy, with high energy and a loose filter, which forces the other hosts to keep up with her. Unfortunately, the Hey Riddle Riddle recordings happen in an isolated system, which means that as high grade comedy is being used up, the chaotic nature of the system as a whole is increasing. Normally one could assume that the three hosts' chaos reserves are approaching equilibrium, save for the all-too-serious truth that Adal is Maxwell's Demon, and routes the chaos from Erin to JPC in order to promote a balance. This has resulted in the complete mental deterioration of Erin, who now sounds like she is constantly a breath away from asking why people have started crossing the street to avoid her. Listening to Erin and JPC doing scenes together feels like watching two hostage negotiators kidnap each other's children, while Adal plays both the police and the kids. Frankly, the show couldn't be funnier. Five stars.

    Janet Varney is the best.
Adal, Erin, and JPC are all easily among my top 5 favorite Hey Riddle Riddle hosts.

    Three things
This is really a review for the clue crew patreon but im doing it here. this summer i had a bit of a menty b and could only listen to three things without crying. for two weeks all i listened to were the following three things: 1. The Wet Wet Waters ep of the patreon 2. JPC’s guided meditation 3. Dragula by Rob Zombie played at volume unfit for human consumption all this to say. buy the guided meditation pack! you wont regret it!!! -Ellen from Hingham (we had the same 4th grade teacher)

Does JPC actually have a child?
Love the show but I’m confused by something, I’m not sure if J.P.C actually has a child or this is a bit going on too long. Even if JPC posted a picture with a child I would just assume he had stolen someone else’s kid. At this point I don’t know if any proof would convince me this “adult” is actually a father, I would just think he’s really committed to the bit. Anyway love the show and have been listening since the show was announced on magic tavern. -keytothehous

Cheaper than aderall and more reliably available
May have some side effects, but production doesn’t get shut down whenever the DEA feels the need to prove that it’s a big kid agency that everyone needs to take seriously or else! >:( so that’s a plus

“Science Podcast” is a tough sell
Don’t get me wrong, the passion that hosts have for making their craft entertaining is wonderful. They’re chemistry makes the show work and without them no amount of scientific rigor could redeem it. But I can’t in good conscious tell people this is a science show when they have chosen to softly sunset their primary fact seeking segment, ‘animal parade,’ sometimes only doing the theme song and not the segment. Even its most recent appearance was about the best ways to prepare minions, instead of the trivia the show has become known for, like “plants can scream.” A podcast which I love, but “science show” is just a tough sell.

    Dangerous to start
I don’t recommend listening to this podcast. I can’t do mundane tasks without listening to the insane babbling of the clue crew anymore. I try to avoid explaining why I’m laughing in public because I don’t want to seem like a maniac who listens to a “riddle podcast”. Love the show though guys. XOXO
