    Misinformation
Trump said he would be a dictator on the BORDER day one only, in that he would CLOSE the border on day one. You are twisting words like the general media is so fond of doing. It’s a shame as it hurts your credibility.

    Politically Homogeneous
Care to have any guests or points of view that actually challenge the leftwing opinions that overwhelmingly get center stage on the show? Making the world safe for your next cocktail party, I suppose.

    Mediocre Discussion
I find a lot of the episodes of FP Live I listen to are just milk-toast (plain) and discussion with a slight focus on foreign policy aspects. There is no rigorous discussion of American (or any other nation’s) diplomacy, international dynamics, or geopolitical game theory. The interviewer’s questions are always mundane (what’s your background, what do you think about this, blah blah) and uninspired. There have been times an interviewee has had a pretty sharp or unorthodox opinion on a topic and voices a controversial opinion and the interviewer just lets them go on without asking questions to force them to flush out their viewpoint. If you’re looking for something to put on in the background FP Live is fine, but it’s not worth deliberately listening to as there are a multitude of other podcasts that simply put in more effort.

    Establishment FP
If you want a regurgitation of Establishment/ Democrat Party foreign policy that has failed across the board, this podcast is for you. The interviewer is below average and rarely pushes back on the many silly things that many of the guests say. The interviewer is incapable of independent thought or analysis. I often wonder where do they find these intellectual lightweights and kooks who will always praise NATO, unconditionally support funding for Ukraine without a goal in mind, hate Trump and the Abraham Accords, kowtow to China etc.

    Thank you
I always look forward to these conversations! Keep ‘em coming. Thanks!

    Has China Peaked Episode
I found Keyu to be a weak guest and wholly unconvincing as she continually confuses growth vs levels of economic activity (output gap). Her articulation of the impact of weak Chinese demographics lacked a basic understanding of fundamental macro economic frameworks. I was hoping for a robust debate and it really fell short as she was a weak opponent.

    Hip Deep
Did FP exercise any editorial oversight over this episode? Chunks of the pod are essentially a whitewashing of one of the world’s most authoritarian regimes. Disappointing, to say the least, coming from a pod that usually hosts interesting, informed and diverse viewpoints.

    Intelligent discussion that’s fact-based
The Foreign Policy podcast is one of the very few that presents intelligent discussion of some of the most intractable problems facing humans today. I don’t understand the one-star reviews: if you’re looking for pablum this is the wrong place, just move on! Every episode is thought-provoking. The first episode of the “Arab Spring” series (ca late January 2021) reminds us of Tunisia and the beginnings. Gripping.

Just another Liberal Bias Whiners Fest! Childish and Moronic
You are a joke like NY Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC. Congrats. One day you will understand what society actually thinks or your constant state of panic that you call journalism. Try telling the truth for once. You are UK based. Why don’t one of you limey blokes do a story on the disgrace to your country, Christopher Steele. That’s gold right under your nose. Oh wait, you guys actually wrote stories for 3 years that had zero validity about Russiagate! Won’t hear word one about the real story which is Obama abusing his power as usual and trying to hamstring someone. No, you just don’t like trump and will keep lying. Guess what, we won’t believe you anymore. We already don’t. You are a disgrace to your profession.

    Great show, annoying host
The stories and topics on this show are great and I really look forward to each new episode. The host of the show however is quite irritating. Very annoying voice.

Not as good as it used to be.
Ever since FP got rid of Rothkopf this podcast has slowly been going down hill. It used to provide thoughtful analysis of current events by a group of scholars and journalists. Now it's one person interviewing another person about one topic.

Not what it used to be
Don’t waste your time- after David Rothkopf, Kori Schake, Rosa Brooks, Ed Luce, and David Sanger left the quality fell off a cliff and never recovered. The tone is condescending, the show is starved of natural chemistry in the conversation, and you should just go listen to Deep State Radio instead.
  • njk68
    Used to be my favorite
Ever since David Rothkopf, Rosa Brooks, and Kori Schake left, this podcast has become incredibly boring. Sad! If you miss the OG panel too, listen to Deep State Radio on SoundCloud!

    Don’t bother
Update: This is a dead podcast. The editors have a difficult time filling the void they created when they departed. Anything prior to, say 2017, is good but dated. Don’t both with this one. Use to be good before addition of Lawfare and less experienced people I really enjoyed this podcast prior to the change in format and people. With the previous folks and their extensive experience from within administrations, this seemed like a master level education. While it was a little heavy on the humor at times, I ignored it because of the quality and content was great. Now, with the current folks, lots of off topic chatter about baby cannons and drinks. Great. I'll stick around a bit longer, but without these folks focusing a bit more on topic and eating up precious minutes that I begin to think I could be listening to something else more intellectually rewarding, you are going to lose me.

    Very good. But I’m frustrated.
This most recent episode with Mr Bergman on N Korea is an exercise in frustration. N Korea is sane, but the country is surrounded by giants who are out to get them (?). Nothing can be said to convince otherwise? And after the USSR imploded, what did the US and NATO countries do, move in? Elephant in the room on this is N and S Korea are still at war. How about that gets ironed out first? Please! Come on, Mr Bergman quit tap dancing. You are not an ambassador to either of the Koreas. Tell it like it is.

"Deep State Radio" is the new ER.
**UPDATE** "Deep State Radio" podcast is the new Editors' Roundtable. Tell your friends. Unsubscribed after the co-host changes in 2017. No interest in hearing foreign policy bro's bemoan their career struggles using obscure acronyms to make themselves sound super cool. (Welcome to every day in the lives of women in the field. We don't need it reflected in our podcasts, too.)

I miss the old podcast with Rothkopf even though he stole my Deep State sweater idea. Please post more original content and not just Rational Security overlap episodes.

    Not as great...
...as it was when hosted by David. I still enjoy episodes most (vs all) of the time, but I haven’t laughed out loud once since he left (as I often did.)
  • Mr_Baltimore
Not as good as it used to be
When David Rothkopf was leading the program it was fascinating. Now, it’s the same thing, over and over. Bring Rothkopf back.

    What a great find
The Foreign Policy podcast consists of two separate groups that share the same stream. Both are amazingly rich with deep conversations on the political news of the day. The main stream, the Editor’s Roundtable, is the more staid of the Teo groups. Guests are invited to discuss the issues of the day with an emphasis on foreign affairs. The Rationale Security team, from Lawfare, adds an extra dose of camaraderie and humor, and still engages in the most well informed analysis. It is such a pleasure to hear thoughtful and respectful conversations from incredibly well informed people.

    Was Excellent, Now Very Average
This podcast started great and was one of the main podcasts that got me listening to them regularly. After Rothkopf et al were kicked out or left, it became just another bland foreign policy podcast without anything really standing out. Hard to make it through episodes at this point. Just go get Deep State Radio...
  • geckopunkstar
    Used to be great
Now it's boring, boring, boring. With very few exceptions, after David rothkopf left, this podcast has become very uninteresting. Sorry folks, you done f'ed up getting rid of him and his friends.

    Has lost all integrity
Though I fell to the left of all of the regular er guests on most issues, under David rothkopfs direction, I found the podcast to be well thought out, informative, insightful and even entertaining, if occasionally a bit unfocused. Then he was fired. The podcast seemed to lose direction, enthusiasm and perspective. I tried to be patient as the new crew found their voice. Then they invited Mike cernovich on the program and told him he had some "interesting ideas" that they said were worth exploring further and said they looked forward to having him back on the program. Mike is best known for propagating the pizzagate conspiracy but regularly spreads all sorts of lies in service of a hateful agenda. Shame on you foreign policy for giving him a platform and normalizing his dangerous ideas. You do a disservice to founding editor Richard Holbrooke and the many other bright individuals who have dedicated years to the creation of a serious platform for dialogue on international issues.

    Decline and fall
This podcast used to be one of the best around - witty, insightful, erudite. It certainly declined after David Rothkopf left, but it still seemed serious and worthwhile. Now, after listening to this horrible interview with Mike Cernovich, I will unsubscribe to the podcast and the magazine. I encourage others to do so on principle. Then go check out deep state radio. Whoever is responsible for the editorial decisions that have led to the decline of this podcast should be held accountable. Perhaps the goal was to be more "serious", but in the process you lost your soul.
  • Livingphil
    Long time listener absolutely disgusted
How can you in good conscience give Mike "Pizzagate" Cernovich airtime on your podcast. Furthermore you wholly failed to challenge him on his conspiratorial lies. I have listened to the ER podcast since its inception. I will no longer listen. You have lost the ability to call yourselves journalists or policy experts. You are now no better than the vile peddlers of conspiratorial fear and hate which you invite on your platform. No journalists are going to escape this period without some level of moral taint due to their professional complicity. I can only hope that your actions on this podcast will leave an indelible mark on you.

    Terrific
I miss Rothkopf as he brought a particular light mood to the show, but the joint publication from Lawfare is great added value.

    Susan Hennessey
Just listened to the latest from the ER. Wish I had those 45 minutes of my life back. The new people from lawfareblog, one of whom is Hennessey, still think that there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. They fawned over a former republican connected political operative (during the CLINTON administration, and now deceased!) who was seeking information on the missing Clinton emails as some kind of smoking gun to support their collusion narrative. This podcast demonstrates a number of serious flaws with the liberal mindset and the fact that liberals have no principles. Ms Hennessey, why would their be a need to recover the missing Clinton emails, when Ms Clinton clearly stated that they had no value and were simply related to her daughters wedding and her private yoga schedule? Are you suggesting that your choice for president is a liar? Does it not offend you that the Secretary of State committed REAL crimes and covered them up by destroying evidence? You know, using bleach bit to wipe a server of 33,000 emails, and smashing blackberries with hammers, all for the purpose of keeping her daughters wedding plans and her yoga schedule free from the prying eyes of the American people. In addition to the poor at best commentary that lacks any semblance of rational reflective thought, there is Ms. Hennessey's annoying over use of the phrase "sort of" which is injected in almost every statement that she makes. It reminds me of a high school girl saying "like" ten times in every spoken sentence. Can we please get David and Kori back? Their comments and insights were very informative. This new version is simply another left wing Huff Post style podcast.

    Loving it!

    Rothkopf is out!
This has gone straight down the tubes since Rothkopf was kicked out. I've now had to unsubscribe. 😟 Also, I'm not thrilled with the book reviews. They tend to be boring and unlistenable.
  • JD3000bk
This was once the best podcast on politics
To the new hosts: Please stop saying "ER Nerds." David Rothkopf owns that, that is not for you to say! -- Patriotic ER Nerds should call for a special counsel to investigate his firing. I'll be sending back my mug.
  • POC2222
    Wth happened to David Rothkop?
Who is this virgin-nerd narrating? what happend to Kori Shacke too? the 2 best panelists are gone just like that? It's like watching a new episode of Sopranos to see James Gandolfini replaced by Nick Swardson. No more witty yet profound remarks. And you sick twisted pepole think we wouldn't notice? Now its "I agree. Ok, what is your take? oh wow me too, how about your take?' Automatically drops to a solid OK rating. Not even a goodbye from Rothkop after faithfully listening for so long? If he's not a guest panelist atleast once a month I dont think I can listen to these new chumps. But all in all keep fighting the good fight. viva la revolucion. i'll probably still listen yet be depressed every time.
  • Teacher1941
    Most Informative
Under the guidance of David Rothkoff, the recently deposited CEO and editor, this podcast was required listening. Hopefully that will be the case under his successor.
  • megskate
    Rapid Downhill Slide
Since the election, the ER has become a combination of three things: bashing Trump,;hyping books, podcasts, and blogs by allies and friends; and a revelation of progressive bias. I used to like listening to this podcast; now, I am unsubscribing because of these three things. It's not going to be a hard thing to do because there has been no discussion of foreign policy for nearly a month - only interviews of authors shilling books. It's become nothing more than an ad campaign to get people of a certain persuasion to buy books they probably don't want or need.
  • Great NatSac Coverage
Serious and Funny at the same time.
A bible for those trying to find their way thru the miasma of the Trumpocalypse. I look forward to every episode and I wish it were daily. These days perhaps hourly would be appropriate.
