    Sarah McBride Interview 11/27/24
David your interview with Sarah McBride is definitely on your top 10 list of excellence. Delaware is a very fortunate Commonwealth in electing such an intelligent compassionate representative as Ms. McBride, soon to be working for them in Washington, DC KHF-BIG Fan Albuquerque, NM

A wealth of inside an information
This is one of the few voices of reason and truth telling. No more than ever. David Remnick (with guests) is a brilliant fair minded interviewer and this program is a wealth of inside and information. One of our favorites. Thank you.

I’m here for the crossword puzzles and never thought much of your “journalism”. Even with that low bar you’ve managed to disappoint.

    Center-right at its core
Unlike some of the listeners who are upset about Gingrich on the show, I thought it’s a revealing episode of Remnick’s own world view, which is doused with neocon and neoliberal sentiment, basically establishmentarian. It also explains the much more conservative tone—except for cultural issues—of this show compared to many writings of the magazine. Hope they can have some left-leaning guest hosts occasionally for a change.

To the out of touch Elite….
As a 54 year old black man from Corona & Jackson Heights, Queens, I’m here to inform yall that the topic of conversation in the barber shop is, “How did Kamala go from curry to collard greens?” Kamala is an Indian name. It’s not African, Caribbean, or Jamaican. It’s Indian. Saying she’s black cause her pops is Jamaican is like saying Elon is black because he’s from Africa…. White Liberals out here getting played like a fool LOL

Interesting, but can’t stand how often Remnick interrupts
I often enjoy these conversations, but get so turned off my David Remnick’s interrupting that I end up turning it off halfway through. It’s possible to do hard interviews that push people to ask direct questions without constantly cutting them off in the middle of their thoughts, which I almost always want to hear finished.

    Classy and engaging
I always enjoy these podcasts and appreciate the scholarship and careful curation of guests and topics. Top notch.

    Undisciplined journalism
It would be irresponsibly charitable for me to call the August 20, 2024 episode disciplined journalism. A just democracy allows for the possibility for a minority position to win if the minority wants it more. So calling pro-life success anti-democratic is simply incorrect: A minority of grassroots activists won a court ruling. It did so because it sacrificed more for that ruling over a longer period of time than the majority did. Pro-choice advocates such as myself could learn much from the focused and shrewd advocacy of the pro-life movement. Instead, this episode decided to complain about how supposedly un-democratic that success is.

    Timely
Mr. Remnick, I can’t think of anyone else who could ask the right questions of Nancy Pelosi as fluently and inviting as you did. Thanks to you, we all have further insight into an extremely wise mind. Amazing and effective interview. Thank you! -Bethlehem, PA

Love the show - pls address sound
Love the content. Five stars. In comparison with other podcasts, though, the audio sounds notably more muffled. Please make it crisp: listening to Nancy Pelosi sounds like she’s bubbling underwater while David Remnick talks into a pillow.

Blatant and shameful in anti/israel sentiment. Dropped my subscription. Vile show.

    Woke bubble
A great shame the New Yorker has succumbed to a self-righteous, shrilly far-left ideology that refuses is shockingly or willfully blind to its own one-sided assumptions and biases. Used to be a fount of thought-provoking, credible, deep writing and journalism that explored a variety of ideas, and dared to wrestle with them honestly and from multiple angles. No longer. As for Mr remnick’s at-this-point rabidly one-sided anti-Israel narrative, easy enough from the luxury of New York to utterly fail to fathom the existential reality of living surrounded by Islamists with a genocidal agenda against Jews, sustained by global mobocracy through once credible institutions such as UN and “rights” groups, but New Yorker reporters have no excuse for their condescending inability or willingness to question the vicious palestianian/Arab narrative that denies Israeli and Jewish identity in its own land. If you want to understand why kids on campuses are so far gone, have a listen and read from the propaganda arm of their teachers, the progressives who lack the courage to scrutinize all with equal fairness and have lost the plot on the post-enlightenment dream that we all share a common humanity but that culture, yes, matters too.

    AIPAC & Fetterman
AIPAC is the political equivalent of how Matt Taibbi once described Goldman Sachs: a vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly funneling money against anything that smells like criticism of Israel!
  • purosa
    AIPAC owns Fetterman
Interesting that at no point did you mention how much money the Israeli Lobby is paying Fedderman. That will really inspire a US Congressman to drape themselves in another countrie’s flag. What a moron.

    Stop Typing Sound-effect.
Love the show. It’s difficult to hear when you add typing sound effects to someone speaking. It was cool ten years ago. Please stop.

Can we have some more scape from politics?
Does everything have to be about politics, David? I listened to your interview with Kevin Costner and found it insufferable due to the constant verring back to trying to find out Kevins politics.

    Katie Drummond is delusional
She compared TikTok to American social media companies without mentioning the trust difference. We should not trust the Chinese Communist Party. They have proven they will lie, cheap, copy and steal, The CCP has an executive in every big Chinese enterprise and that person is more powerful than the CEO. The Chinese are excellent at the long game. They may not be stealing data from Tik Tok now, but they will in the future. Katie, don’t you think it’s odd that TikTok is not available in China? Neither is Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, The Economist, The New York Times, and most other western media. You called Biden hypocritical for this decision but you give the Chinese a pass? We are crazy to allow TikTok, as it may well be the instrument of our demise.

    RFK jr
Nothing changed! Or rather The New Yorker has changed for the worst and is no longer the source of upstanding, quality journalism. It’s another just another outlet for far-left bias and propaganda. ————— Aug 2023- David, I am a fan, but your interview with RFK jr was hostile, spilling with disdain, and reeked of your bias and partisan politics that Kennedy is speaking out against. And frankly many of us on the left are tired of this What you did with editorializing and sometimes misrepresenting what Kennedy said (“he deflected” etc) was at time intellectually dishonest and the reason why many liberal and left leaning thinking individuals no longer rely on main stream media for news and opinions. I hope you can reflect on this in an unbiased way and when you write the piece, you will do a better job of presenting the conversation more accurately.

    New Yorker radio hour
The May 17, 2024 episode interview of John F Kennedy Jr disappointed me. David Remnick asked some excellent questions but the style and tone of his interview seemed dismissive. Especially concerning to me was the question about JFK jr’s regularly attending support groups. I hope I missed understood the point of this question. I am highly supportive of people publicly acknowledging that they attend to their mental/emotional health. I appreciate the interview but I I prefer journalism that takes a tone of seeking knowledge vs judgmental. Overall I get a lot out of the podcast and thank you all at the New Yorker for your fine work. Camille

    What is this?
I’m not exactly sure what I’m listening to here. I specifically wanted to learn more about RFK, (he is increasingly in the news). I was listening to the July interview expecting a question and response format, but the editing keeps pausing before a full response from RFK, inserting an overlay of the journalist's thoughts and additional information about the topics RFK is speaking about. However, we are not hearing the words from RFKs own mouth. It’s rather frustrating…

    Unfortunate
Unfortunate that the New Yorker would interview Jerry Seinfeld. A man who dated a minor young woman (17) when he was 38. It also seems that he has spent an inordinate amount of time entertaining the IDF when he hasn't done the same for the United States military. It's time for the New Yorker to make better choices.

    David Remnick
The New Yorker and David Remnick had fallen into woke abyss with his one sided view of the modern divide in this country and around the world. Such a shame

    Indeed the Best Magazine
The best magazine in print today. Those properties don’t always travel as well in the podcast format. The guests/topics are often interesting, sometimes compelling. David Remnick is mult-italented: nearly as keen a podcast host as he is an editor. There is value in brevity however, some topics require the long form.

    Boring
The Adam Gopnik episode on March 22 told me absolutely nothing that I did not already know. I found it utterly boring and I was shocked to think this was somehow New Yorker worthy. Nothing intellectually stimulating here at all. There are so many more important issues to cover and to see this sludge get in the way makes me lose faith in this publication. We are literally watching tech companies take over nearly every facet of life in this country as they contribute to an incredible wealth gap fueled by anonymous greed, lobbyist corruption, and political opportunism. In 10 seconds I can come up with more valuable and intriguing story ideas than this.

excellent podcast about trump/authoritarianism. the problem is this authoritarian minority is ruling like it is the majority and getting away with it in the courts and the help of no spine merrick garland. our gov needs to dump the electoral college because it doesn’t allow the majority to rule and that is the way the senate is setup too. kill the filibuster & the electoral college and that would be a good start. plus i do blame the media companies for not hitting trump back hard in 2016 when he was being the filthy pig he is to hillary clinton and i say that as a bernie supporter. mainstream media needs to stop being so dainty about trump and his flying monkeys!

    Hopelessly woke
If you want woke propaganda then this is the podcast for you! The fawning interview with Judith Butler in which she is never challenged or asked about the many inconsistencies in her book (which has been poorly reviewed generally) is a perfect example. WNYC and The New Yorker have fallen to woke ideologies - really a shame.

    Latest episode
The best magazine. Sometimes a great podcast. Really don’t need the Biden propaganda though, or to be told how things the most important election. Perhaps try spinning the fact that it’s the least consequential election of our time, with the two worst candidates we’ve ever had.

    More artists!
I loved the recent episode with Brontez Purnell—feature more artists like Brontez!! I was excited to hear Jeffrey Masters voice because I loved his interviews on LGBTQ&A. I don't like every episode—like I was disappointed about how Clare Malone's conversation gave credence to right-wing "memes." But I'll stick around for conversations with artists like Brontez, Michelle Zauner, Jacqueline Novak, and others.

    Immigration ideas
Really learned a lot from Johnathan Blitzner & his ideas for the border, I think there are additional things to weigh in & that is the human trafficking that’s taking place, bc if you looked at those coming across the border, one would find the thousands of $ dollars getting paid to coyotes & all that information is on their cellphones & WhatsApp, additionally, there’s no way the number of unaccompanied children would make it as far as they claim on their own Thank you for the show, always informative & challenging

    David Remnick coverage on Gaza
Every episode I listened to in which David Remnick covered Gaza made me physically sick. I am flabbergasted by its one sidedness. Anybody who talks about October 7th without giving any context : blockade in Gaza, constant bombardment (mowing the lawn strategy including during operation cast lead, protective edge…), putting Gaza on a diet or the occupation/ apartheid in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the constant land grabs and settler violence, the kidnapping of children under administrative detention (amnesty and save the children reported on this regularly), the torture and the sexual abuses in those prisons including on minors, the bulldozing of homes, the burning of olive trees, the arbitrary killing etc etc shows that their empathy only extend to one group which can only be qualified as RACISM. If we condemn violence we condemn it universally. October 7th was brutal but Palestinians had 76 years of October 7th and this has been completely erased in all his conversation. There is also genuine misrepresentation of the so called peace attempts like Oslo and Camp David trying to paint Palestinians as uncompromising. It’s a bad faith erroneous argument. Rabin himself said he was offering less than a state. The terms put on the table were simply unacceptable and even stipulated Palestinian won’t be able to control their own water. Edward said called it a “Palestinian Versailles”. I am not even delving in all the details of 48 and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian after a series of massacres like Tantura and Deir Yassir. The fact that people talk the foundation of the state without talking about how it came to be blows my mind. Israeli historians like Bennie Morris documented all of this and it’s not hard to find books and documentaries so there is zero excuse in omitting this context! I used to trust the show because I thought it had intellectual integrity and now that I am seeing all the cracks, I no longer do.
