Hostage

1,390

Some terrorists use weapons. Some use information. The scariest use hostages. Every Thursday, Hostage tells electrifying crime stories culminating in intense, life-or-death negotiations. Within the stories, we examine tactics used by the FBI’s crisis negotiation unit, world governments, and even hostage’s parents, highlighting the techniques that saved lives, and the moments where everything went tragically wrong. Hostage is a Spotify Original from Parcast.

    Love This Podcast
I heard about this podcast on Girls Gotta Eat and so glad I did. This is very informative when it comes to various hostage situations. The hosts discuss various cases, victim’s psychological evolution as a hostage, and much more. They review the best practices of hostage negotiations and how negotiations have gone drastically wrong.

    Spotify is the worst
I really liked this show, but I don’t like anything enough to use Spotify. It’s such an annoying app. I hope you move back to Apple Podcasts, but “oh well” if you don’t. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m NOT going to use Spotify
It’s ridiculous that I have to download a separate app, create a Spotify account and go through all of that hassle just so I can listen to this show. I shouldn’t need multiple platforms just to hear podcasts. These guys do great work and it’s really a shame how many listeners they are missing out on by having certain shows exclusively on Spotify. I will never download Spotify when I have Apple Music and Apple podcasts.

    ☹️
Hate I have to use multiple platforms to listen to parcast. Ridiculous and not worth my time even though I love all parcast shoes.

    STOP MOVING TO SPOTIFY
I have loved parcast but moving to Spotify is a big screw up Disappointed and unsubscribing 😡

    No longer interested
I don't like the changes you have made, all the short unrelated stories in between the Hostage stories are not interesting And they are played on other podcasts I listen to.

    Spotify
Very butt hurt to come here and see the podcast has moved. I was just recommending it to a friend but we don’t and won’t use Spotify. Hopefully the paycheck is worth it! Will miss listening to you.

    Why though!!!???
Loved this podcast but the move to Spotify just caused me to unsubscribe and delete from library.

    Spotify is bad
I will not be moving to Spotify. It’s sad to see so many of Parcasts podcasts moving there.

    BAD DECISION!!!!!
You are definitely going to loose subscribers with this move!!!! I subscribe to almost every podcast you have and will not be following you to Spotify!

Move to Spotify will Make me unfollow this podcast
I really like many of the Parcast podcasts. However with them moving to Spotify I will delete them from my library. This was a bad decision in my opinion.

    Bad move
Not fond of them switching over only to Spotify. I don’t like that app and I will not be following them over. Too bad they made that decision. They lost a subscriber because of that poor decision

    Sad Move
I’ve enjoyed this podcast for quite some time. Bummed it’s moving to Spotify only.

Not a fan of this show moving only to Spotify

    All of them!
Parcast podcasts are basically all the podcasts I listen to. They are so good and informative and I recognize the voices now. I’ve been addicted for 2 years now and I look forward to new ones every day!

    Sad for the move.
I’ve been enjoying the podcast. Sad to see it moving to Spotify only.

    Good recording questionable research
Good simple easy to follow story telling. I would like to know the sources of the information. Seems way to detailed to be accurate, they appear to present hearsay and circumstantial evidence as fact. Makes for good easy listening but not factually sound information.

    Love Irma and Carter
Irma and Carter are two of my favorite Parcasters! Hostage keeps me on the edge of my seat!

    Heavily Pro Criminal Slanted
These people’s next gig will be testifying on behalf of criminals in effort to gain sympathy and reduced sentences.

    Moving to Spotify
I refuse to download another app to listen . I hate when podcasts pull this on listeners.

    Favorite Parcast show
This is my favorite podcast from Parcast. I love that they shed light on actual negotiation tactics, as well as describing the psychology behind the behavior of both the hostage and the captor. I would love to listen ad free on patron but I am currently broke so I just deal with the commercials for other Parcast shows.
  • Ikeplus
    Canned history
The hosts sound like local radio advertising schmucks delivering a condensed Wikipedia article. I made it 15 minutes before distaste outweighed curiosity.
  • Magicallyinvisible
    Hmmm
I used to enjoy this show at least a little bit. I am debating deleting due to the twice a week shows multiplying my feed. Did anyone ask for extra episodes???
  • Great Storytellers
Enough of the dual host gimmick.
I just can’t listen to these parcast dual host podcasts. What was clever a few years ago, is now just annoying. I wish they’d warn us with 2x marker in the title. Maybe in the future someone can redo the podcasts with one host. Until then, count me out.

    Just tell a story
Unfortunately, Hostages, and other Parcast shows, keep telling their story with a political bias or motive. I listen to podcasts to learn, expand my mind, and escape a normal routine. Now political OPINIONS from history and current day are somehow necessary to tell past events? Start a propaganda podcast if you want to vent that dirty laundry.

    Pretty Good
This show is pretty good. I hate the summary at the beginning of every episode. Just tell me the story.....don’t tell me the end in the beginning! No one likes a spoiler! I also really don’t care for the Hostage stories where foolish people travel to places for selfish purposes, and waste tax dollars to rescue them. Not to mention, put our service members lives at risk for their own foolish endeavors. If they keep focusing on foolish people’s stories, I’m unsubscribing. Don’t care about stupid tourist or reporters that place themselves in clear danger purely for the reason that they wanted to do so. Nope.
  • Lily_Grl
    Wow!
Absolutely love listening to these! I really hope you do an episode about Elizabeth smart!!

    The best of podcasting
I love the way the hosts deliver each story, with respect to the victims, and still telling the story as it was with the facts that made these stories unforgettable. Thank you 🙏🏼.
  • Modivo
    Great detail and narrations!
I enjoy all podcasts narrated by Carter Roy. Despite his calm sounding voice, I was literally holding my breath and found myself struggling for a deep breath when describing Fr. Jenko’s long journey in the tire storage. These podcasts are well researched, written and narrated. Thank you!

    Offended
Very offended by the way the Amy McPherson story was portrayed as a “Pentecostal”....you obviously didn’t clearly do your research on the Pentecostal faith! I haven’t done research on this story and who/what she was, but as a modern day Pentecostal I get frustrated by the way our faith is presented! It’s very biased!

    Great podcast
I love true crime, as a insomniac this helps me rest

    That voice, ahggg!
Please, I can’t take Molly’s voice. She is trying way- y-y too hard. I give up!
  • Nike Noodle
    Excellent!!
I’m binging the episodes now. I can agree w some of the comments suggesting one full episode every 2 weeks vs half every wk. I purposely wait to binge bc if I had to wait to hear a conclusion, then I pass it up (even if the whole podcast tells 1 story) until I can binge the entire story. This is something I’m able to do, but I can see those that follow week to week could request a full episode. This is constructive criticism bc w busy schedules, ppl lose the gripping details from part 1 the week prior.. not to mention the suspense built up wanting to hear the conclusion. Some may not even have time to get to the 2nd part rt away causing them to have to listen to the 1st part again and free listening time is very precious to some.. Thanks guys for a great overall podcast!!

    To many adds
There are too many adds and through out the podcast. Play them at the beginning and the end of the podcast not right in the middle. It’s a lot of work skipping through them
  • Whyisitsohardtowritareviee???
    Good podcast.
I would rather a full episode every 2 weeks. It I like it.
  • NinjaMom06
    Puerto Ricans are NOT immigrants
I’m listening to the Ariel Castro episode and this is for the podcasters: Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. They cannot emigrate to America. They are American citizens that move to the mainland. Please do not continue to perpetuate the myth that we are not American citizens. And continue to do thorough research before putting out an episode.

    It’s ok
There’s a handful of stories that I was interested in hearing about and kept my attention, but most of them are boring. It’s just ok.
  • Coolfreakinbeans12
    Love it
I listen to this pod cast at work . Makes the day go by so fast getting wrapped into every detail. My favorite podcast

    New episodes? Think again.
Shameless promotional junk for several podcast, but not this one.

    Ariel Castro Part 2 Epusode
What happened? It just ended in the middle of a sentence! This is such a good episode, so I hope you are gonna finish this...and soon!!
  • Mildre's Marie
    Fantastic
On the second part of Captain Riley. Captivating. And as always, I appreciate that this is professionally done and void of the profanity laced, self absorbed hosts that many podcasts sport. None of that swill here.

Really enjoying all the shows from this network!
I stumbled upon this network and started listening to unsolved murders, and now I’m subscribed to several of their shows. This network’s narrators have the best voices!
  • Citrus Sunshine
    Mostly interesting stories
I haven’t liked every story, but most of them. The additions of the hostage negotiator suggestions are interesting.
  • cameronsxxx
    Love
I love everything Parcast. However, the most recent episode (Ariel Castro part 2) cuts off weirdly and I believe incorrectly in the middle of a sentence. Hope It gets fixed soon!!!!
  • wayfarebluth
    Interesting stories, unnecessary bias
Fairly fascinating but the unnecessary bias that’s becoming more prevalent in each episode is frustrating.
  • ZooberDude
    Narration is disorienting
The information is good and the presentation is well written, but it’s very disorienting to have the the male and female narrators change every few seconds. Makes it hard to focus and seriously distracts from the information. This is such a big deal that I took 3 stars off what would be a 5-star review. Please, either have one person narrate the whole thing or split it between the two narrators to cover it in halves or quarters.

    Research can be improved.
LDS members are not opposed to therapy and the LDS community is not and has never been homophobic. This incorrect information earned you a one star review.
