A great overview but he talks SO quickly that it's hard to absorb the analysis. He also does not pause at all at the end of sentences or between sections. Just a one second pause would make a world of difference! Please!

An interesting, concise, well-spoken, and thoughtful podcast; a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to classical philosophy.

Nigel explains and analyzes famous philosophical works in a way that is easy to understand. He has a pleasant voice, and speaks at a good pace. This is one of the best podcasts out there.

This podcast is just Nigel Warburton reading from his book. I have been tutoring in Philosophy for a few months, and we use this Podcast as a starting point for examining many of the key texts in Western philosophy. Compared to other well-known philosophy summarizers (e.g. Russell), Warburton is incredibly clear, crisp, and concise. Although he's not incredibly detailed on each text, he covers the main points in a satisfactory manner, even including criticisms of each text. An intro student will definitely come away with a good understanding of most of the texts. He's also remarkably even-handed (again, unlike Russell). I recommend both the podcast and the book. Warburton's excellent narration is also a plus. I'm giving this four starts only because the podcast seems to have ended, without finishing the book (so we don't get the more recent philosophers). I wouldn't normally complain about this, but it's clear that Warburton initially intended to have the entire book on here, so it does feel a bit incomplete.

Warburton successfully communicates dense concepts from great thinkers while saving us from any potential Continental flourishes of pretense. His ambition to communicate depth as well as breadth reminds me of Russell. And while his biases definitely shine through at times, this actually serves to give the listener a sense of Warburton's personality which works perfectly as a podcast. It functions as a common thread and makes me want to listen further to get to know him more.

The selection available is lacking the good stuff. Where is the existentialist phenomenology? I urge the podcasters to release readings of Husserl, Ponty, and/or Marion. Heidegger too. Look for it!

This podcast is well produced and the information is presented very clearly. I certainly hope it continues, keep up the great work.

The author has a nice voice and explains philosophy really well. I wish this podcast existed as a companion to the texts I read in college. Only negatives are that he narrates really quickly, the transition between subheadsis awkward, and the podcasts end abruptly.

I love this podcast. Sometimes Nigel presents ideas so fast that you can't digest the concept before he moves on (not easy listening subjectmatter). Keep your rewind button handy or just listen to them 2 or 3 times to start to understand what the philosophers he's paraphrazing are getting at.

This podcast is a warmly read version if the Warburton's book. Anyone interested in beginning (or brushing up on) a familiarity with these philosophical texts would be smart to use this podcast/book as an aid.

I've really enjoyed listening to these podcasts. Mr. Warburton is wonderful at exploring the views of these philosophers and the implications of those view. I only wish the entire book was offered for sale as an audiobook. I have not seen it offered anywhere.

Loved his voice and tone throughout the podcast. I could listen to him talk all day... in love! On a serious note, he really dumbs this down to a level we can understand!

Well done. Concise, to the point, Nigel makes listening enjoyable. The negative one star posting for this podcast, I think, is from someone who has very little interest or capacity for philosophical discourse. My only complaint for this Podcast is the fact that some time elapses between casts.

I have definitely enjoyed the four podcasts of Mr. Warburton that I have listened to. I listened to them while running and they made the time go by very quickly! As a philosophy major in college almost 20 years ago, I thought these podcasts were great refreshers. They are not oversimplified or dumbed down. These are also very professionally done podcasts with clear audio.

I've listened to all of Nigel's casts, and, while I hope his book hasn't concluded, I encourage anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of philosophical viewpoints to listen in. I wait patiently for a next installment and look forward to reading the book for myself.

I found this podcast very enjoyable to listen to because Warburton presents the ideas of these various philosophers in an easy to understand way (except for Kant). Great if you want a quick telling of the selected thinkers

Nigel's voice is engaging which brings the material to life and makes every subject easy to understand. The podcast seems to end oddly, with criticisms of the work but with no real summary or conclusion. Other than the abrupt ending, it is an excellent philosophy podcast.

Love the work you are doing Nigel. I like the clasics especialy for the perspective they give.

I have listened to 5 of the Podcasts and found them succinct and informative. The audio quality could have been better, but the author/narrator did a fine job of making his points in addressing these Classic works. I am looking forward to hearing the remainder and anything more he has to offer in this realm. Thank you.

This podcast is not for everyone, but for someone looking for a refresher in or an introduction to these topics, Mr. Warburton provides a clear, consise, and useful summary. I have enjoyed it so far, and will continue to listen.

Bad sound quality. Narrator has horribly thick, monotone, British accent. A complete waste of time...
