History 101 provides an overview of the historical development and interrelationships of the major population centers of Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas from Neolithic times to 1500 CE. Using a thematic approach, the course observes the political, economic, social, and cultural characteristics of the various regional groups chosen for study. Important ideas, significant persons, and world views are described in the context of each theme.
The podcasts are 20-30 minute pre-recorded audio supplements to the weekly learning module. In each podcast, I go over the lesson’s main points and expand them to include other information not necessarily included in the learning module, so that students may hear the information as it would be presented in a traditional classroom.
Students can listen to them as they complete the learning module on their computers, or independent of the online learning modules. I expect most will listen to them as they work on the material, to reinforce what they are reading on the screen.
