This collection covers the UNIX operating system and environment as well as similarities with LINUX. Topics include logging onto UNIX, the UNIX file system, basic operating system commands, processing and system resources, login profiles, and beginning shell scripting. Hands-on experience with the vi editor, the UNIX help system, and other UNIX tools and utilities is also covered.
The items are primarily MPEG-4 video clips recorded before or after classes. Each recording is no more than 30-minute in duration.
I will create podcasts that cover the learning objectives of the course as needed. Once all the podcasts are created, it is unlikely that I will be adding new ones with much regularity.
The primary audience is the students enrolled in the CIS 249 online course at HACC. But other learners interested in the UNIX operating system may use the content to enhance their learning as well.
