Scott Cairns is Professor of English and the Director of Creative Writing at the University of Missouri. His six poetry collections include Compass of Affection: Poems New & Selected and Recovered Body. His most recent books are Short Trip to the Edge: Where Earth Meets Heaven—A Pilgrimage, Love’s Immensity: Mystics on the Endless Life, and The End of Suffering: Finding Purpose in Pain.
