UCL historians discuss the launch of a major investigation intoBritain’s debt to slavery in a bid to create the first ‘encyclopaedia ofBritish slave owners’. It will highlight the major companies, artcollections and institutions that can trace their existence back to colonialslavery in the 19th century.The three-year project, ‘Legacies of British Slave Ownership’, is the firstcomprehensive attempt to trace the impact of slave ownership on thedevelopment of modern Britain.
