magslabOneTwoThreeMy favorite Podcast!I’m a hispanic woman in my mid 50s who is originally from California. I became a fan of Dr. Imani from the Married to Medicine LA🤩 days. I was ecstatic to find this show because the topics are relevant and interesting and both hosts (Dr. Imani & Meg) are authentic, informative and engaging.
-
TurbinadosugReal life conversationI love this show! I might be biased because these conversations validate things I think but don’t say. Great to normalize mental health as a real life situation that can be treated and or managed. 5 stars for me!

Dr J from NYCHighly Recommended, Relevant, Relatable, RealImani State of Mind podcasts are incredibly professional, scholarly, intellectual, entertaining, and engaging with an effectively down to earth communicative style. I am a 71 year old Black clinical psychologist, a high school math consultant, and the mother of a 28 year old female. I find the content and the discussions to be relevant, interesting, and helpful to me professionally and personally. I often recommend this podcast to teens, young adults, parents, and colleagues. In one of the many, many episodes that I recently related to, it was a listener's question about her mom that exactly described a therapy session that I had just completed. Dr. Imani's response directly reflected the advice I gave my client regarding the need to have her mom evaluated and possibly declared mentally incompetent and unable to care for herself. On a personal note, the episode on the REALlities of Parenting personally taught me a lot about what I am doing wrong. After listening, I vowed to better respect my daughter's independence and stop expressing opinions/butting in. In less than a day, I f'ed up, again. I'm still trying! Thank you, Dr. Imani. You have my utmost admiration and appreciation. Patricia Jordan, PhD Licensed Clinical Psychologist Posted 2/19/2023 Professional, Personable, Pleasant In her first episode, Dr. Walker combined her professional expertise; and her personable, pleasant manner to invite her audience into an Imani State is Mind regarding our current health and social climates. She educated us about the horrific facts and stats, informed us of expected anxiety and depression, and advised us accordingly. Moreover, she openly shared some of her own related challenges. Given the sadness of the topic, listening to her podcast was actually pleasant and encouraging. Her voice and the intro music were both quite soothing; her sense of humor was appropriate and welcome. I have shared Imani State of Mind with friends and colleagues. I look forward to continued Professional, Personable, and Pleasant episodes. We need an Imani State of Mind now more than ever. CJ176Great PodcastOmg !!! Finally!! I’ve been looking for a down to earth black woman’s podcast about mental health; someone who is REAL with insightful information and knowledge. Thank Dr Imani and Meg!! Can’t wait until the next episode!
-
ChiaraCGPDropping knowledge, informed thoughts, and feelingsI’m a long time listener. I love the show. Dr. Imani makes learning about psychology and mental health fun and interesting. You are having the conversations that need to be had. Dr. Imani and Meg, if I were y’all I would be more careful in my conversations about Jewish people and antisemitism, particularly in what thoughts and feelings you choose to broadcast. Some of what y’all have said on the show so far, in my opinion, would be better said in pre-production meetings while you work on getting Jewish folks and experts on antisemitism on the show. Y’all know better than most people that ignorance is not benign.

macthebrownMary J & MonicaI love listening literally EVERY time. I learn and crack up and then learn again. Thanks for putting yourselves out there.

anneis_amazingWhy am I so late?I have been listening to Crooked since it’s inception and for WHATEVER reason I can’t remember right now, I didn’t give this show a follow and listen when they started advertising for it. PLEASE LISTEN!!! It’s a delightful show full of humor, wit, and honesty. I am three episodes in and plan to be a completionist so I can be an informed fan.

JoeJoe_no1What a great surprise!I was so excited to see the return. I get so much from the conversational styled way of getting us some seriously topics across. Imani is not afraid to touch sensitive topics but in a way that can be digested without much triggering. Please, no more hiatus' except to take care of you.

All podcastsThe kids are not okThank you so much. I needed to hear this. I have a teen girl turning 14. This has been so hard.
-
Badapple GibbsSaying “why can’t we all just get along” won’t fix the problemI love Dr. Imani but Cam kinda gets on my nerves. Cam has said some things that are a bit dismissive but is veiled with the notion of wanting “everyone to just get along”.

Lauren D 0104Love Imani’s POVI love this podcast and I tune in every Thursday. However, I wish she had a different cohost that didn’t compare lying about being Black to someone wearing colored eyeshadow. I understand that they are friends, but you can’t tell a Black person how to feel about situations that are racial. You also can’t ALWAYS avoid the topic because of being uncomfortable. Because of this I have not been able to finish multiple episodes and can’t give it 5 stars. PLEASE add others with likeminded views that aren’t obsessed with playing devil’s advocate.
-
Mc cabralKeeps it 💯Dr. Imani keeps it so real yet so professional, I don’t know how she does it but she does it so well! So Insightful, intelligent and beautiful heart and soul, so much fun and makes me lol all the time. Love the dynamic between her and Kam.

J KimmyGreat Content not a fan of a recurring guestAs a casual listener I love Imani. I think she has so much great content and love to share about mental wellness. I think she has poignant content based on her experiences. I will say I’m not a fan of one of her recurring guests who tends to steer away from the topic.
-
podcastsaremyhobbieGreat Show!I love how you all make the episode really insightful and interesting and fun! I listen to this on my way to school! I find the “pop culture” section of these series a great opportunity to learn more about something already popular. Thank you Imani and Kam and Guests, keep it up!

Rockmom08New dedicated listener!I am familiar with Dr.Imani from MTM:L.A. loved her energy and outlook on life on the show. As a fellow New Yorker, I loved her no nonsense attitude and empathy. I laughed and really had some deep thought while listening so I will be listening from now on! So happy to have a black woman discussing mental health who has professional background and doesn’t mind sharing her life! Kudos sis!

Rachel in ChicagoTherapy in Podcast FormThank you so much for this genius. I sadly listened to the last ep of season 1 and am waiting with baited breath for season 2. This podcast is marvelous and so validating. We are ALL struggling during this pandemic, but especially if we had stuff beforehand. This is such a warm and practical space to feel ok, uplifted and at peace even when things are crazy. Thank you.

CoJoe's TropicalsNormalizing mental health topicsLove Dr Imani and this podcast takes the taboo out of discussing or living with mental health issues. ❤️
-
agl272525Imani is WONDERFUL! But...I love Imani’s breadth of experience and information. I wish she would have other people co host with her besides Cam. I don’t want to be hurtful, but Cam doesn’t bring much to the show besides cursing and complaining. No solution.
-
Charelle T.Thank you!!!!Thanks Imani, Cam and everyone involved with creating this podcast. It’s so informative and I LOVE hearing about mental health from black women. More more more!!
-
CoconuttreemafiaAbsolutely love this podcast! The conversations are down-to-earth and relatable, and I love the overall aim to de-stigmatize certain topics like substance abuse, therapy, medications, etc. As a person living with a partner who suffers from drug and alcohol addiction, that topic really helped me understand the underlying issues a lot better. Thank you!
-
EcshjdjjdExcited for this show and new episodes!I think this is going to be an amazing show, so excited to hear about mental illness and get the opinion of a black female therapist. It already makes me think a little deeper about my mental health and helping me to work up the courage to find my own therapist.
-
