I found the host/narrator captivating but I cannot listen past the second episode. I wear noise isolating headphones when I listen to podcasts at work and find the audio way too busy and distracting. It often muddles the spoken words. Volume changes are jarring. Someone needs to hear this: It’s ok for a host to talk without dozens of sound effects and background music playing 100% of the time! I’d happily dig into every episode if it wasn’t so cluttered with noise pollution.

Scaramucci is a smooth talker; seems to take accountability for his choices. But the fact remains he chose to throw himself behind two of the biggest cons of the 21st Century: Trump and SBF. That’s some serious poor decision making—I wouldn’t take advice from him, but the story is good.

Very good storytelling and honest, self reflection but Anthony Scaramucci, which I truly appreciate and enjoy. I am anti-trump anything and anyone associated with him, so I was veeeery hesitant to listen but am very intrigued by the SBF / FTX case so I was drawn in. I’m glad I gave it a chance - it’s given me new information on the background of Sam & his rise to fame, entertained & even changed some of my opinions of Mr. Scaramucci.

I moved to the NYC area in the fall of 1976. From Rochester NY. I lived with the fear that gripped the city and was actually in the parking lot on Long Island Berkowitz last cruised days before he was caught. This podcast with Jack’s reporting and insight revealed more about Berkowitz’ psyche than I ever knew before. Makes me wonder how many of these monsters walk amongst us? I look forward to the same depth in examining Mark David Chapman in season 2 of Killer Tapes. (I did read Jack’s book).

I listen to ALL the crime podcasts. This one has truly been the best. Written and produced so well. Appreciate all the work put into it. David’s own words to tell the story make this all truly shocking.

Great deep dive into all aspects of one of the most infamous dark creatures to ever walk this earth. Bill really has a voice for radio and brings this story to life. Great show.

The genre of true crime as a whole has become truly commercialized but this podcast is another level. There is a dissonance here between an attempt to garner sympathy for a man who killed so many while overlooking the lives and tragic endings of his victims all intercepted with corporate ads for fast food.

I love this show! This is a different spin on the usual true crime podcast because not only do we get the chance to hear their side, we also understand the how and why behind their choices. Murderers and criminals are no differ than any one else, they just didn’t have the chance to express their frustrations in the proper funnels. Brilliant show!

Last year, KT producer Bill was nice enough to make me part of a tiny test audience that had complete access to the unreleased series. I SHOTGUNNED the episodes and ended up listening to the last few at work while scrubbing the kitchen floor. I was listening and crying, just standing there with a mop in my hand, completely surprised at the way the series wrapped up. The roughly 1 million hours of true crime and documentary podcasts I've listened to have left me with a number of feely (if predictable) impressions, but this one...I mean, how do you unearth and tell a well-known, 50 year old story about a repellant and feckless boogeyman but still move your listener to tears and contemplation of love, violence, and the layers of reasons people will do their worst? I don't really know how, but Bill and Jack did it. I 100% recommend the story and the experience.

Think you know about Son of Sam, think again. This is an excellent in depth look into David Berkowitz. The tapes are chilling, the interviews with Jack are compelling, and the narrative storytelling by Bill Badgely is first-rate. If you like true crime give this show a listen.

The research and narration alone are binge worthy, not to mention the ultra creepy never before heard tapes. A podcast like KILLER TAPE is a rare bird. Can’t wait to see what Bill Badgley does next.

Saying that SoS did what he did because his adoptive parents were too nice and gave him too much money just isn’t right. The list of all the deaths he witnessed sounded so fake and attention-seeking it’s like they’re having trouble producing new content. Postal worker Dave is a dull person at his core and no matter what he does, he will never have what it takes to captivate or interest. Even if he changes his name to the Son of Hope or whatever, no one cares but this struggling podcaster.

A brand new series from the folks who made "Where the Bodies Are Buried," featuring a never before been heard interview with Son of Sam. Can't wait for the series!

A podcast that has actual interviews, km so tired of the podcasts that have fake re actors . I like to hear actual interviews. I would like to hear more detective interviews also .

I have all your so called tendencies and have thoughts all the time. I’ve been to a therapist and was told I couldn’t come back due to how blunt and open I was with everything. You sound like someone I could talk to and help clear my mind and ease my thoughts. Honestly could say my kids and fiancé are whst has kept me from acting it all out

This show has a lot of information and it’s good to hear from actually convicted felons since I think it gives a new perspective to these cases. I hope this guy is continuing to do his job well

Can you PLEASE stop revictimizing people by asking them to describe their sexual assaults in VIVID detail? Do you understand how triggering that may be for someone; even if it occurred nearly 40+ years ago? That disgusted me, especially when you called it “intercourse”. Call it what it is. It is rape, it is sexual assault, and it is a violation of a human being that you cannot make them describe in disgusting detail over a public podcast for your benefit. I can’t listen to this garbage anymore.

GIVE CLYDE A DEAL! As a mother who’s lost her only child the worst thing would be not to know where they are or what happened to them.

I do like hearing from the killers, but the host ruins it for me. The guy seems to genuinely believe he’s an expert in all things psychology, criminology, profiling, law, etc., but the thing is - HE HAS NO CREDENTIALS WHATSOEVER!! His narcissism is irresponsible & reckless, particularly with regard to the victims. Also, he pays the criminals to talk (via their commissary accounts). This podcast should be banned.

This podcast is very blunt and strange. Bad interviews of narcissists desperate for the negative attention.

I listen to this, but I’m not too crazy about the host. He and the other people that talk randomly are very dramatic and if he says bouncing baby boy one more time! He interrupts the killers a lot, when they r in the middle of saying something interesting. He is very full of himself. In one episode he says something like “I’m going to be very gentle when telling so-and-so that I’ve found her sister’s killer” then proceeds to proclaim her “I found your sister’s killer. This is what I do!” …not gentle and very self-serving. Avoids the word rape at times and instead uses the word sex, as if it was consensual.

The show is alright the only thing interesting is hearing from the murderers themselves. The narration feels like a wannabe ID special amping the drama. The producers (especially Samantha) are grating.

Just listened to this podcast for the first time and in the first episode the host calls the victims sister and says he solved the case and that Clyde Gibson confessed. How irresponsible!! At that point you knew nothing of whether this serial killer was being truthful or not! Wow. Just wow. SMH.

I am in awe of this show. Having the brief opportunity to meet Phil in person was incredible! Now to listen to his questions and ever so calm demeanor and zero judgement in his voice, I can see how his early career led him to this! Good luck and I am binging this show as I drive. The stories are coming straight from the convict!

Love the podcast BUT it’s annoying cause Phil ALWAYS thinks the killer is lying or saying that the killer always makes excuses … like these people are staying in prison forever, will die there. They know you are calling them to talk about their crimes, why would they lie about whether they were remorseful or not ? There would be no point . And about the making excuses. Phil asks these people why they snapped or killed and when they tell him, he says it’s excuses…. Then they tell you why they killed and it’s like it’s not a good enough answer for Phil lol

Phil Chalmers pays inmates for their phone interviews by putting hundreds of dollars on their commissary accounts, which is LAME in and of itself, but to then present himself as an expert when he has ZERO background in psychology or law enforcement is doubly lame. Sounds like he watches experts on Discovery ID and writing down phrases to use (incorrectly) later. Don’t waste your time listening to this self aggrandizing poser.

It’s great! His favorite thing to say is “Bouncing baby boy”

This guy is pure trash. He was blaming movies, porn, horror, society, his wife, anyone but himself for the torture rape and murder. He states he’s trying to help stop people like him. Puhleez. I know the interviewer is trying to gain rapport with these as*h*les, but at least drag him in the commentary. Please stop letting your interviewees blame others for their crimes. It’s disrespectful to the victims and their families.

I stumbled on this podcast and it’s by far my new favorite and I listen to a LOT of podcast. I feel bad for enjoying it so much actually. Can’t wait for more!! Keep up the good work.

First episode I listened to was the Bundy episode. The interview was awkward and gross, the callousness of the host toward the victim made me angry. If you’re going to interview victims, perhaps spend some time with victim advocates and experts learning how to handle those interviews. I won’t listen again.

Super interesting. I don’t know of any other podcasts doing anything like this. I do have minor gripes. I can’t stand the unnatural conversations between the hosts. Everything sounds so fake in stark contrast to the interviews which come across as much more raw and natural. Also, I don’t need to hear, “as a woman” every time the female host starts talking. We get it. I’m also a woman but I don’t gender everything I say when I speak to men. I speak for myself, and I don’t try to speak for all womankind. The main host, Philip has a serious ego on him. It can be distracting and doesn’t make me root for the hosts. Since I’m not rooting for the serial killers, I would really like to like the hosts, but all you get is ego and super awkward conversations between the hosts. So overall, it’s good, I’ll continue listening, but it would be so much better if the conversations were less scripted (these are professionals talking to each other, right?), the binary gender caveats attached to the unnatural conversations were edited out, and Philip toned down his ego a bit.

I like that this show is structured differently from other crime podcasts. However, in the interview with Robert Bever, he stated that he purchased a shotgun from the Mossberg website and then purchased two Glocks. First, you can’t buy a gun directly from the manufacturer, or just order a gun to be shipped to you online. Additionally, he was 18 at the time of the crime and could not have legally purchased a Glock hand gun. I would love to hear these killers being called out on their lies and their response to such.

Why in episode 2 Ted Bundy is the interviewer asking the survivor to go over her rape in such detail? She clearly wants to give just the basic facts and move on and then interviewer makes her go back, add details and asks her how long Bundy raped her. Really - is that necessary? It seems very sick and exploitive. Does the interviewer get off on rape descriptions? This is a weird podcast. If you like hearing victims being forced to go into detail about being raped - this is for you. I find it disturbing. I really can’t believe what I just listened to. Deleting and not subscribing.

I have no doubt the two male hosts know what they’re talking about. Phil Chalmers does ask nuanced questions of the perpetrators. The aside conversations with Milam get testosterone-fueled which is distracting. Dr. Creel always asks the questions that get the two male hosts back on track.

Glad you are finally back with Season 2

I clean houses and I listen to about 30 hours of true crime Podcasts a week. It’s an obsession lol but this one is pretty awesome. Please do Gary ridgway and make it a two parter!

I loved this podcast so much! I definitely need more episodes I don’t think I can wait until season 2 comes out!!! I literally listened to all of these too quickly! Ready for more!

I listened to a few episodes and was not impressed. The Matrix episode in particular starts with the convict explaining his crime and his so called addiction to the Matrix and Grand Left Auto. Then the interviewer goes on and asks if video games had anything to do with it. This guy is locked up and where he belongs. Sad “any warning signs” I was bullied and fascinated with Columbine Dont give him any more of a platform

Love this podcast, but still waiting for the next season. Hope it is coming soon! Can’t wait to listen.

I totally love this podcast and the fact the there are cereal killers out there and some are confessing to there crimes really amazes me. I still don’t think that’s right to take someone’s life but it’s just awesome how they just tell us about everything in detail and tell the truth ( well most )
