    Even though these guys know all about comics, comic movies, and superheroes it’s not necessarily a kids show! Similar to House of R but with men, this show focuses on children’s media through an adults eyes and it’s cool hearing them taking the subjects seriously… but don’t worry, they still have their silly side and they definitely provide lots of laughs as well!

    longtime listener, finally reviewing
    My initial introduction into The Ringer-Verse was House of R & I am forever grateful to Mal & Jo for reawakening my inner nerd and showing me how cool it is to deeply care about things. In the past year I’ve also started to listening to The Midnight Boys and I truly think that pod is in their bag right now. In the past couple of months I have found myself laughing out loud weekly to their content. I think for both House of R & The Midnight Boys, the chemistry and connection of the hosts is at the core of what makes these shows great. Keep doing what you do, appreciate all of you!

    They don’t speak facts on the movie business
    This podcast is entertaining for opinions, but they often say things that are inaccurate. For example, they stated all of James gunny’s movies make a billion dollars when none have. They also said B- is a good cinema score when anyone who understands movies knows it is an underperforming score which usually signals the movie will perform negatively in multiple ways. So it’s nice to hear them tell jokes but they don’t understand the movie business.

    Love these guys but the podcast content proper is routinely hidden behind a banter-laden smear of social media plugs and programming announcements for other episodes. Please just put that at the end of the show or in the middle so I can hear what I’ve tuned in for without hammering the 30 seconds button back and forth to try and locate to actual conversation I tuned in for.

    Just Skip Charles (or Maybe the Pod)
    If you want positive discussion about the MCU and Star Wars, you’re probably better off checking out Jason Concepcion’s X-Ray Vision podcast. These guys tend to be a little too negative about everything, especially Charles. Man that guy is a jackass. He thinks he’s an intellectual but he’s just another contrarian with little to offer other than an utter dislike for anything Marvel or Star Wars. Over the years, I’ve found myself listening less and less to this show and more to others because I just want positive discussion. Life’s too short.

    The Midnight Boys need to focus on the content and not their brand. It could be so good if they just discussed the subject and stopped yelling over one another. I have to adjust the volume routinely because it is all over the place.

    *Earnestness warning* This week has been ROUGH and I have this little boy at home and I’m so scared of raising him in this country, but then I listened to the 4 of you talk about Wicked and toxic masculinity in a way that was hilarious and vulnerable and honest, but still so you, and I cried because I felt hope. Amongst all of these terrible people there are still people in this country, like you guys, that are going to move us forward and I am so grateful for that. And you are funny while you do it.     Just gotta call these dudes out for falling over themselves with praise for “Wicked.” I almost fell out of my bed when they started talking about bangers in the film. Academy Award for Ariana Grande?! Ick. Still a funny episode. I just know now not to trust y’all’s taste. I’ll listen when I want to get mad at wacky takes.

    All the haters can shut it. You don’t have to listen if you don’t like it. 1) If everyone agreed about everything and liked everything it would be very bland. Thank you Chuck, you keep it interesting. 2) Midnight Boys (pew pew) do require a sense of humor. If you can’t tell the difference between a bit and seriousness you won’t like it. 3) I enjoy that this team has fun with each other and generally like each other.

    Is there anyone in podcasting that loves to sound smart more than Steve ahlman. Listening to him try and be fennessey is beyond annoying. He loves to nitpick shows with absolutely no heart behind anything he says. I truly wish it could just be jomie talking for mint edition. Steve is just unbearably annoying. I mean these ringer folks are just people who like to rewrite shows. They aren’t here to talk about shows. They are here to tell us why good things aren’t perfect and why ok things are trash. No other point. They talk like they are excited about things. But then they start talking and you realize they aren’t actually saying anything about the project. And also, Jessica’s Clemons doesn’t belong on the final episode of arcane when she wasn’t in any of the others. She just took over like she usually does.

Watching Van and Charles verbally spar back and fourth while giving us black pop culture references and conversations is top tier!!!!!!     I’ve listened to the midnight boys since the beginning and loved it but it has been getting harder and harder to listen to as a woman. At some point they got too comfortable and started the locker room talk. Ten minutes on chest booty and Sydney Sweeney’s boobs? I’ve heard about porn and erections on multiple episodes now and I’m over them digging into Steve and jomi’s sex lives. Van is getting offensive. Y’all think it’s funny to rib them but as a woman it is really dehumanizing. Reign it in a little or hire a woman who can tell you when you cross the line but I signed up for comic book lore, not being objectified every single episode

    I checked out the Deadpool episode as a result of the Big Picture cross over. 20 minutes in and you haven’t talked about the movie. And the conversation is directed at someone who doesn’t like comic book movies. Waste of time.

    Most Positive Reactions to the Acolyte out there
    You guys said the song at the end credits of episode 7 of the Acolyte was a banger. Yall truly trolling or yall really playing Pat Bev defense defending this abomination of a Star Wars show. You guys might be saying the Acolyte is not working, but you guys were far more critical of other subpar Star Wars shows. We can applaud people trying new things and taking risks in Star Wars, but new and different isn’t always better, especially if people’s own agendas mess up shows by completely contradicting Star Wars lore and canon. I loved you guys for your different and funny reactions as well as your sports analogies to our favorite shows/movies, but your coverage of the Acolyte just doesn’t seem genuine.

    Enough with the trolling critiques, Van & Charles. It used to be funny; at this point it’s just exhausting. The digressions are ridiculously frustrating and time-wasting. They misinterpret entire plot lines, miss crucial details, and lack insight. They need a woman’s perspective. Contrast their shortsighted takes with Mal & Jo’s carefully thought out, reasonable, mature takes on HOR. Steve & Jomi would fit in better at HOR.

If you want to spend a few hours of your week listening to negative vitriol, this is the show and critic for you. The overarching theme of every take coming from Charles is “why are you spending any time watching these shows/movies/games.”
