jhwSCStellar podcastRyan does an outstanding job navigating the tightrope between belief, non-belief, secular humanism, and social justice. He speaks up with intelligence, humility, kindness, compassion, and genuineness. We both began our journeys of life after god in late 2015. His guidance and presence have meant more to me along the way than words can express. What you are doing matters so much, thank you Ryan! Sincerely, Hope

bthearenOkayThe content is okay, the host is okay, the guests are okay. I think the show is just okay. Some episodes are awesome while some are boring. I think the podcast just needs a slight tune up.

AR01876I appreciate Ryan’s perspectiveLike Ryan, I am also a former SDA now non-theist and really appreciate his positive humanism views through this podcast. His guests give great perspectives on growing out of their original religious backgrounds and the real process that led them to where they are today.

A.dri.anaAwesome Podcast! This is one of my favorite podcasts! I can truly relate to the topics discussed in this channel. The conversations are about what I have experienced in my own life, and I feel connect to people like me. Ryan has been a pastor and he understands how an apostatized feels; and his guests are bright as much as he is.

Jarod A.Insightful podcast for allThoroughly enjoy listening to this podcast and the guests who are brought on! Thanks Ryan!

krskeyThoughtful and caring conversation.Thank you for a humankind approach to discussing religion. The episode with #leaving the pew guest really spoke to me . As a former youth pastor gone off the religious grid, it was a pleasure to walk this journey with intelligent and caring conversation. My take away was to let others who might have religious beliefs find their own way. Hopefully we will evolve to form a better society. I am doing my part by giving my son the opportunity to choose his own way.

Skeptical JedGreat Podcast !!!Ryan, This podcast is very informative and entertaining. I am a somewhat recent atheist in Birmingham, Alabama and crave any content that can help me feel connected to the community. I'm surrounded by fundamentalist and have to lay low most of the time so your content is appreciated. Thanks again!

Dan SchuringThought-Provoking and ConsiderateLong-story-short: I'm a former Mormon who struggled to try to maintain faith in Christ and God after my disaffection from the LDS Church. More than six years ago now, I finally admitted to myself that I was no longer a theist or even a deist. It’s been a challenging yet fulfilling and beautiful journey. I discovered Ryan’s “Life After God” podcast early this year. So far I’ve listened to 26 of the 37 episodes available at this point. I appreciate Ryan’s approach because it maintains a certain respect for theists/believers. I imagine that most who listen to this podcast are like me—former believers. We may carry a lot of baggage in terms of resentment, sense of betrayal, but Ryan does a good job reminding us of some of the good our former world view may have provided and some of the wonderful people who still believe. In addition to that, I find the podcast entertaining, educational, and thought-provoking. I’d recommend this podcast to anyone trying to reconcile their beliefs in God with new ideas that challenge those beliefs or to those who are now trying to improve their life, with a reformed belief in God or with no belief in God. Thanks Ryan!

smithchuck2Great, thoughtful podcastI think I've listened to every episode of this podcast since it started, and every single one has been worthwhile. Ryan is extremely level-headed (if one can be extreme and level at the same time??), and gracious and articulate. I often find him asking questions that cause me to think “yes, that’s the question I had, but I wasn’t able to put it into words.” He has interesting guests and they discuss deep and important questions about how to live life (after God), and what it all means, and how we can try to treat each other better. And if you like this podcast, also check out a fairly new one by Bart Campolo, now called “Humanize Me.” And you can find Ryan & Bart interviewing each other on their respective podcasts.

krs617Wonderful, balanced show for the spiritually ambivalentI really loved this program as a nice alternative for people who, like me, have a complicated relationship with religion. I am no longer a believer but many people I love and care about are, and religion is a part of my life whether I like it or not. Having to construct a worldview, from scratch, is a challenge, as is having to explain to those same friends and loved ones why your moral positions are legitimate, even though based on intuition and a lifetime of learning rather than a historical text. The presenters are very compassionate and delicate issues are handled with grace. Very nicely done.

MelinaRaynaA great showHe brings in leaders that are near the edge of the intersection of belief and non-belief.

thisnicknameisoriginalFinally!Made the decision to leave the Christian faith in 2013 afternoon childhood of Catholicism, an adolescence of charismania and being a paid worship leader for 3 years. It has been an amazing journey since then, but there aren't enough voices out there to help people process their feelings and emotions about atheism and unbelief. Until now. :) When I first heard about Bell, I thought he was a weirdo. "Who just tries on atheism?" I thought. But his journey and his curiosity about humanity, morality, and atheism keep me entertained and stretch me intellectually. If you are on the fence or freshly reconverted, I think this is a great podcast. If you like thinking about uncomfortable ideas and other perspectives, download now. If none of these are you, I feel sorry for you.

😩😫😱One of the best podcasts out thereLife After God is an inspiring podcast. Whether you're recently in a no man's land of (un)belief, or you've been out of religion for a while, this show has a lot to offer. The theologians and thinkers that Ryan brings on to discuss their work have broadened my religious perspective and given me lots to think about. Not to mention a To Read list a mile long! Life After God is a supportive, respectful environment no matter your religious background or affiliation. I love that you won't hear Ryan hate on religion. Respect for all is something I'm trying hard to do as a recent deconvert myself. Ryan is a great model for a soft but strong voice, advocating for all of us trying to make our way in a big world. I highly recommend this podcast. I wish all my friends listened to it so then we could talk about the insights we gain from it.

Micky CarrollAn Encouraging VoiceEvery time that I finish listening to this podcast, I regain hope for secular and post-theist communities. As a former Catholic, I've grown tired of constantly looking to fill the void left in the wake of deconversion. This journey gets a little easier each week, thanks to Ryan Bell and this podcast.
-
Certainly UncertainAwesome!Life After God offers a wide range of topics related to faith transitions. Thoughtful, engaging, helpful! Thanks!

JesseAletheiaThank you Ryan! This podcast has helped me tremendously in my time of de-conversion. Ryan has showed me that there is still Life After God.

EtherealbylarWell spoken, informative & intelligentRyan Bell's amazing personality, influenced by his genuine humanism along with his passion for learning and understanding our deepest transcendental needs, makes this podcast very enjoyable for those like me who are in between the believe or not to believe state, but I'm pretty sure anybody will find this PC useful and tasty.

serialthinkerThe Real DealRyan Bell is genuine, caring, and filled with passion for people. What's more is that he is taking his years of selfless service in religion and moving it beyond. Helping WHILE informing and entertaining. Impossible? No, but difficult. He is artfully threading a needle between belief and unbelief and I am a fan!

Steve HillikerEncouraging PodcastI really enjoy hearing the thoughtful discussions about what it's like coming out of Christianity. Having gone through this journey myself it feels encouraging to hear others share a similar experience. Thanks for doing this podcast Ryan!

jmgNazGreat new podcast for those who have left religion behind.I've followed Ryan Bell's spiritual journey away from faith via his online blogging, and I am a fan of his mannered approach to questioning religious dogma. The podcast is a pleasure to listen to, and I started with the episode where he interviews David Hayward, creator of the Naked Pastor cartoons. Good stuff! Looking forward to future episodes.

iconoclast88ImportantThis podcast is so important. The process of losing one's faith can be an alienating and lonely one - this podcast gives support to those moving away from faith and shows they are not alone. I appreciate the emphasis that is placed on exploring doubts and openly discussing complicated issues with compassion. Thank you, Ryan! Looking forward to many more!

DrammieThank you Ryan! One of the best podcasts anyone recovering from religion can listen and subscribe to. Ryan Bell walked away from his career to follow his truth. Leaving his job, his community, his friends behind Ryan took the biggest leap of his life, to spend a year without God. Ryan is intelligent, a wonderful writer and compelling speaker with his finger on the pulse of all of us seeking truth in a world full of dogma and crazies. Looking forward to all of your podcasts Ryan!
