VicSummersSometimes...other times...Most of the time I learn so much, and truly appreciate the work these two put in- this in conjunction with Diane I’d say are the two best and most informative engrossing podcasts on Twin Peaks. Sometimes I think they fall into that unfortunate mode of using pessimism in place of intellectual breadth and/or even just letting the show breathe and trust that it may intentionally be trying things that don’t work as well as others, I do get tripped up by those moments but overall its really brilliant and worth the time!

*Longtime Print Subscriber*Kate Rennebohm is a National Treasure! The very BEST in film insight & analysis applied to Twin Peaks and Lynch films. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated Kate’s incredible knowledge and enthusiasm for Twin Peaks + great editing by her partner & smart, interesting guests. I would love to see the team back for new deep dive analysis when they’re ready. Definitely miss their voices!

mcc_mckThe Best Television and How to Talk About ItTwin Peaks has now left an indelible mark on my life; a dream I can’t forget. For me, this sort of thing is best served with a healthy portion of solitude and rumination and reflection that you can’t quite get in a room of people with a work that begs to be discussed like Twin Peaks does. But after watching Lynch and Frost’s 3 seasons and then watching them again with this podcast as supplement, I begin to realize or remember, from all of those years of watching programs with my folks, that Television is a collective experience, maybe more than any other art form. Kate and Simon do such a beautiful job of opening up this proverbial can of worms that is Lynch’s opus by getting to what is maybe the point of any piece of really deliberate craft and self-expression with an audience in mind; that you, the audience, are a part of the work. It was never the point with this podcast, as so much television criticism and Twin Peaks discussions seem to think, to dissect all of the narrative connections and to suss out every detail of reasoning and plot. And while it may be our initial reaction to look for a continuous narrative thread, there is so much more hidden underneath this formality. Lynch, with all of his work, gives us the greatest gift he can; a filmic world through which we can experience a very simple and deliberate exposure of his mind and, in turn, our own. And Kate and Simon seem to realize that the best thing that we can do to appreciate this is to project onto this world with our own meanings and interpretations as an audience. Twin Peaks truly is the greatest television of all time because it does live in our world much like a dream that, while not real, lingers in our minds and represents terrible and beautiful truths. While beloved characters are being killed off in Game of Thrones and hackers are dismantling a Late Capitalist America in Mr. Robot, Twin Peaks is shocking us in more real ways; is reflecting our current time and place with greater accuracy because David Lynch accepts no filter on his mind. It was such a pleasure to experience this with such a dedicated group of individuals. Thank you.

MPierce215The Best Twin Peaks PodcastI tried out a few Twin Peaks podcasts during this new run, and this one is by far the best I've come across. It's more from a film studies perspective and not really as into recap and theorizing. The hosts are also so clearly passionate about Twin Peaks and Lynch in general, it makes the experience that much more fun for someone coming from the same place.

laughingacademyCineastes-a-Go-GoA wonderful fancast from two people who clearly love TV and film, and bring great enthusiasm and knowledge to their discussions. Also, A-plus guests.

cfarnham123Very cerebral - love it!Hands down the most cerebral of all the TPTR podcasts. Their insight into the history of film, tv is unmatched. Sorry I hadn't disocveref this podcist sooner but now I'll have epiosode to go back to once TPTR is over. TPTR has ruined all other shows for me. Like the original it's so far beyond anything else out their that I'm simply going to feel lost once it ends. David Lynch has pretty much replaced God for me at this point.

Ron OThere's no backup for thisThis is the only podcast, really, that succeeds in treating Twin Peaks as worthy of serious analysis in context of film and cultural theory.

hardtalesGreat combo of cinephile and fan takesKate and Simon are both deeply knowledgable about all aspects of film, which allows them to come at Twin Peaks: The Return from vantage points I don't hear elsewhere while still allowing their love and appreciation for David Lynch and Mark Frost to come through. A wonderful podcast.

Josh HafnerThe Twin Peaks podcast you're looking forThe best Twin Peaks podcast I've come across, and it's not even close. The hosts are huge Twin Peaks nerds, as we all are, but they also possess a deep knowledge of film, meaning they pick up a lot context and references casual viewers often won't. A must as you watch "The Return."

Pablo MilwaukeeGood insightAs someone who is not a film nerd, I enjoy listening to people who know what they are talking about. I don't always agree with the hosts, but they are legit.
-
Katya MezYES! This is the one. After sampling 6-7 of the 50 or so TP podcasts that speak to the cryptic depth and intelligence and canny artistry of Lynch's world, I finally found the exact one I've been needing. Hosted by two film critics who are at once scholars and uber fans. Thank you!

Ritshirt2001Top notch podcastHas become my favorite Twin Peaks podcast! Hosts really know their stuff. Great guests. One request: don't feel the need to keep the show limited to around an hour! Could easily listen to longer shows. Thanks for a great show Kate and Simon!

Nahmsayinthe beston top a garbage mountain full of garbage twin peaks podcasts, this may be the only good one

Coloradohairstreaka really nice listenI had a hard time finding a good Twin Peaks podcast to lead me up to the new series -- this one is the best I came across after auditioning about 10. Good insights, pleasant personalities, interesting guests. The one minus for me is the time spend bashing the second season -- the James striking out on the highway subplot is egregious, but much of the rest of it (including Windom Earle!) is integral to the whole universe. I find the second half of the second season to be equally knowing and sly to the rest of the show. I'll admit it spends more time satarizing the TV crime drama and less time paying it tribute than the first season. But there's tons of great stuff there!

reads and writesThese people understand the television industryThis is a great one. People who understand the television industry break down what makes Twin Peaks tick, and put what it did for TV into broader context. They look at the show from the business side and the story crafting side and they do great work. I plan on listening all the way through the new episodes.

DoNotProdd TheBeachRubblePerky & Percolating, Scholarly & Hilarious!Definitely one of the best Twin Peaks recap 'casts out there. In the first episode there is a really breathtakingly incisive delve into the show's use of music, sound and what we can only call "The Lynchian." A very wonderful analysis of Grace Zabriskie's performance as Sarah Palmer, and her ability to perfectly integrate the two tragicomic parts (both turned up to Eleven) of her character. They wrap the first ep with a dive into the Lynchian world that started with Twin Peaks and continued through Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire. That's far from all, and that's just the first Episode. Both Kate Rennebohm and Simon Howell really know their stuff, really love Twin Peaks and are very good at communicating their thoughts, reactions and criticism in a relatively short time. That is a tough, tough job. Trust me, I know, because I'm not just a Twin Peaks Podcast consumer, I'm also a producer! (Vintage Commercial Joke) ...and man, can we ramble! Their guests, however, do _not_ ramble. On the contrary, they have been very well chosen, as smart and challenging as Kate and Simon but with some interesting and original backgrounds and points of view. I could listen to these fine folks for hours, but at 30 minutes per Twin Peaks episode, you just _have_ to give this one a listen! "What do you know, these things snap right off..."

RP-40The Quintessential Twin Peaks podcastThe Lodgers is the preeminent accompaniment to Twin Peaks. The hosts are brilliant, insightful, and very well spoken. Already in the first installment it becomes apparent that exhaustive research has been done on the subject. All the background information and context provided helps the listener achieve a deeper understanding of this influential series. The content is interesting and balanced, mixing equal parts academic analyses and pop culture trivia. But most importantly The Lodgers is fun to listen to! So grab a cup of coffee (black like midnight on a moonless night) and a slice of pie (cherry), kick back and enjoy!
