Cosmic Crit: A Starfinder Actual Play Podcast

286

Cosmic Crit is a weekly Actual Play podcast centered on the new Starfinder RPG from Paizo. Listen to the shenanigans as a seasoned GM, a couple of noobs, and some RPG veterans explore the galaxy and fight monsters on behalf of the Starfinder Society. It's a little roleplay, a lot of natural 20s (we hope), and plenty of fun.

    Fast time at Absalom High
I’ve really enjoyed the Cosmic Crit Podcast. The GM keeps the pace moving and the players are creative and fill the game with fun. This has made me get into Starfinder. Hopefully I can find a group that will have as much fun as this group does.

Why did I just shed real tears
I’ve fallen in love with this podcast, the players, the characters, and the amazing stories that Patrick weaves. Several episodes have left me in tears and I’m not even through the first season. Thank you for making and continuing to make this podcast. I hope that I can catch up soon!

Started my own Dead Suns game
Love this group. I'm running my own game of dead suns and started following along to familiarize myself with the game. Definitely steal ideas from Patrick. Thank you you CCCrew, hope I eventually catch up to you one day.

    Started with Season 2
Because I have a couple of other Actual Plays that were doing Dead Suns, I held off on this crew until they started their second season, with a play through of Against the Aeon Throne. They have been knocking it out of the park! I'm about to listen to S2| 111: Dazed and Defused and I am super excited to listen to this conclusion of the first ever 3 part AP! I'm also excited to see what they do with "Attack of the Swarm!" for Season 3

    Awesome podcast.
I am a gm and just started running aeon throne for my group. This podcast is giving me great insight on how to better run my adventure pack. Thank you so much and can’t wait for more.

    Favorite Actual Play Podcast
I love this Starfinder podcast and the commitment this crew has to a fun and entertaining listen. They are engaging, have fun, stay in character much of the time, and the GM runs the table well. I love that I can listen with the family due to their commitment to use made up curse words Star Wars style. It’s fun to have that connection with the kids and also for them to hear how others do TT role playing. They have tried to be more in character and committed to story as well since listening.

    Just started and got hooked
I'm not too far in but already i'm hooked. I got into starfinder from side quest inn and now i'm just racing through pods that have them in it. you all have a fan in me, can't wait to hear more!

    Great Stories and Fan Involvement
The cast does a good job of expanding upon a pre-written story with lots of shared world-building. Bumfuzzle is a treasure to hear especially when doing some translation work. Overall a good group you can tell love the game that makes listening enjoyable.

    So much fun
I just started listening and I love it so much. Listening to ep 18 right now, and did a silent 'squee' and happy dance when I heard the computer say 'Captain Alyndra'.

    Great Starfinder Podcast!
Having a blast listening to this podcast from the beginning!

    Fun!
I haven't actually listened through Dead Suns because my GM is prepping for us to run it soon so I'm avoiding it, BUT! As someone pretty new to TTRPGs and actual play podcasts, I'm thoroughly enjoying season 2! The whole crew is a lot of fun and I enjoy the characters, get lots of laughs listening through each episode, and it just makes me more excited for my group to start. Thanks for sharing your games with us!

    Best Thing Ever. The End.
DnD nights for me have been few and far between lately. This podcast and group of friends have filled maybe not the gap (ha Starfinder joke) but has definatly helped. Thanks GUYS! ~A new Crittermander

    Ever Improving and Family Friendly
I was recommended to this podcast due to a certain other podcast which was massive disappointment. Cosmic Crit however has turned into the premier Starfinder live play podcast. The cast really cares and are very into their characters. The podcast is mostly actual play and they never bring the real world into the picture, very professional. This is also seemingly one of the preferred podcast of the Paizo staff themselves and Patrick, the gm, has managed to snag quite a few interviews with them. Love it! Keep it up Cosmic Crit!

    Can’t wait for season 2!
Out of all of the Starfinder actual-play podcasts, they’re the pronking best.
  • Parblar
    Very very good
This is one of the top Starfinder actual plays, no doubt.

A band of lovable idiots shoot guns and save people
Definitely recommend this. It’s easy to follow along, the group is a great to listen to and very witty.

    Great podcast!
These guys/gal are on par with glass cannon network’s Androids and Aliens Starfinder Podcast while retaining their own unique style. The GM skillfully weaves in the character backgrounds into the plot and fleshes out some of the underdeveloped areas in the Dead Suns AP with more encounters. I’ve reached the end of book one and I’m stoked for book 2!

    So much fun!
I’ve been listening since day one and I have to start by saying that Patrick, the GM, is one of the main reasons I continue to listen. He has a great voice and storylines he has wrote for his players is very interesting. He really makes it feel like your in the starfinder universe and the players RP increasing the immersion factor. Speaking of the players, I would like to mention how well they play together and RP together. It really makes it fun to listen too.

    Gold Standard for Starfinder Podcasts
I consider Comsic Crit the Gold Standard - the cast is fun, they improvise well, Patrick (GM) is equally invested in players doing well & killing them. The character voice for Edrass is just one of the best I've ever heard. They do great competitions and are all around wonderful.
  • Lemiel
    Refreshing
It's nice to listen to an actual-play podcast here they aren't playing Dungeons and Dragons, it's a good way to learn the benefits of the system, and the team is clearly having a lot of fun with this system.
  • Talkativebones
    Feels like home
I've checked out quite a few actual play podcasts of Starfinder's Dead Suns adventure path and after some fishing I've kept my attention solely focused on the great work the GM and players are doing. Patrick the GM is a real pro at running the game like a well-oiled machine whilst bringing the narrative alive with great ambience music and voices. The players work together really well and there's a sense of cameraderie that's strengthened as the plot goes on and their characters stories become their (the players) own. YOU WILL BE ENTERTAINED PEOPLE. And you will get some rare insight with interviews with some of the good people at Paizo. The community is what most one my fault as the podcast is very inclusive with their fans. I've personally had the honor of participating in society games ran by Patrick and got a chance to play alongside at least one of the stars which was an incredibly exciting moment and all who join us have the chance to get involved with monthly fan challenges and game-talk on the Discord. Congrats on a successful first season, I'll be with you all the way till the bitter end gang!

    A wonderfully produced podcast
The sound quality on this show is quite excellent. Additional music and sounds even voice effects add a well appreciated dimension to the show. You can tell that the crew has a lot of fun, and great chemistry. I'm very interested to see how far this show can go!

    Spacetime Fun!
This was my first venture into the Starfinder system and it did not disappoint! The players all had a good time with each other and the GM played it all very well. Clearly knew how to run the fame and this particular story. I don’t get into a lot of sci-fi actual plays, but I may have to keep this one around.

Just a Fabulous Family Friendly trip
I got into this show right after GenCon last year and I haven't stopped, because of the lack of swears and adult content I listen to the show with my son who is a bigger fan than I am.

    Longest running Starfinder AP podcast
Cosmic Crit has been top quality since it launched. Great audio and the cast is extremely personable. Every week it’s a lot of fun and I look forward to the future!

    Excellent AP
Quickly becoming a favorite AP of mine even though I don't play Pathfinder or Starfinder. The characters are interesting and the players are fun to listen to with lots of playful discussion and tabletalk. The production is excellent as well, with clear voices and engaging background music and sound effects. Excellent gameplay, and I enjoy the insight into mechanics and design.

    Awesome Starfinder show!
This podcast has a great crew, great sound quality, and is a really awesome listen. It doesn’t hurt that I also play a Lashunta Solarian so Alyndra is very much my favorite on the show. They clearly put a lot of effort into production, so the show is a pleasure to listen to with just the right amount of sound effects and music. What drags for me in Pathfinder/Starfinder is combat and they really keep it snappy and interesting in this show so it’s actually fun to listen to.

    Engaging Fantasy Sci-Fi
Once Cosmic Crit gets rolling, it really gets rolling. The GM does an excellent job keeping the game moving both in the narrative sense and also in mechanics like combat and computer checks. While the background music can sometimes get repetitive, it will soon sink into the background as you become just as engaged in what is happening as the players are. This is one of the cast's best assets - all of the players seem to *really care* about what is going on at all times. They cringe when a player takes damage and cheer when they kill a construct. The audio quality is superb, despite the team clearing using mics of different tiers. There was not a single time when I struggled to understand what was said. My only feedback to the hosts: I prefer jumping right into the action, and the intro was a little long winded for my taste in podcasts. But if Cosmic Crit fans enjoy a few minutes of banter to start the cast, so be it. Keep killing it (it being various ghosts, aliens, and robots :^] )

    A good intro to Starfinder!
I started listening just as a tool to help me learn some of the crunchier parts of starfinder rules, but they do a great job of finding character moments and now I’m just straight up invested!
  • Frycurious
    Fun stuff.
This wacky group of spacefaring misfits sound like they're having the time of their lives. GM and players do an excellent job creating an atmosphere that really pulls in the listener. The sound effects made me smile (especially the lasers), and the high-stakes Scooby Gang mood has me hooked as they explore the cosmos. Great cast, great game-- I'm sold!
  • benfromidaho
    Wicked fun
Great show and just the right amount of humor and game play. So many podcasts these days go a little too over the top to plead their audience. This is a podcast by gamers for gamers!
  • Bapperson
    Amazing
I had never heard of Starfinder and wasn't sold on listening to a space-based actual play podcast. However, Cosmic Crit has changed my mind. The mix of fantasy and sci-fi works well and the players are having a lot of fun with it. Listening to them makes me want to try out the system. The audio is good, the players are good, it's just all good!
  • 37 Years Playing RPG's
    Cosmic Crit is AWESOME!
These guys are fun, funny, entertaining, and WORTH YOUR TIME! A great GM who brings much more to the story than what is published and the players are all-in. Some of the players are new to table-top-RPG's but they are all great in this actual play pod cast! Gnak Sizrack rules!

    Highly enjoyable
    Great podcast; very entertaining

    Love this podcast!
I'm a longtime Pathfinder player currently getting into Starfinder, and I wanted an Actual Play podcast to help me learn the setting. Cosmic Crit has been fantastic for it, and it's super fun to boot! As someone getting pumped to play a melee Vesk, Edrass is my spirit guide! As a long-time GM, Patrick is a great GM to listen to, I've picked up a few new tricks for my toolbox thanks to him! His intro episode completely sold me; on him, the players, and the podcast as a whole. Keep on rocking, team!
  • AJ Bernard
    Great podcast!
A fun way to begin to learn the StarFinder system. The GM and the players are a lot of fun to listen to. Glad I found Cosmic Crit!
  • WanderingMonster
    Wonderful
I’ve been listening to this show since the beginning and it’s the best. If you only listen to one Starfinder Actual Play Podcast, this should be it. Fun characters, great collaborative storytelling, and fantastic audio quality combine to make this on my must-listen list. It’s pronking great.

Roleplaying Fun Is Outta This World
These tabletop game lovers go through some sessions of Starfinder--I find it very entertaining to listen to on my otherwise dreary bus rides. I'm into tabletop and Starfinder and I enjoy their nerdy enthusiasm and when they're having fun playing the scenarios with their crazy characters! Keep it up, guys and be honored--I typically don't go out of my way to write reviews for stuff like this but I want ya to keep doing what ya do! :)
  • traumallamas
    Love it!
A wonderful actual play pod with great player chemistry, a mildly evil GM, and a great look into the first AP from Starfinder.

    Dwarves in space!
I mean how can you go wrong with pathfinder in space. It's like Star Wars and Pathfinder had a baby, and that baby is cosmic crit. Amazing podcast and great players, who are funny and entertaining.

    Quality Show
Very enjoyable Starfinder podcast. The players and GM work really well together. Look forward to listening every week. Excited to run the AP myself after listening here and getting the AP myself for Xmas.

    Excellent
The GM is top notch and the Starfinder game seems really great. Hopefully this podcast lasts a real long time! If you like rpgs this is definitely a worthy addition to the rotation.
