    Sleep bag of tricks essential!
When nothing else works this podcast does! Otis’s voice is gentle and calm. I love the slow pace of speech which inevitably gets me to breath to its pace. It slows me down and take the edge off so I can sleep. Wonderful to have in your bag of tricks for sleeplessness!

    Lovely Idea & Voice
I was about to follow but on my first listen it was 7 minutes in before the actual story started. I understand there has to be ads to fund the programming, just can’t seem to imagine falling asleep to that. Personal ads seem unnecessary.

    Love this show!
I just recently found this show. I’m so glad I did. The stories are interesting and Otis is an amazing storyteller.

    Thanks and Book Suggestion
Thanks so much Otis for a great podcast that has helped me get to sleep so easily. It has always been hard for me to fall asleep but my problems have been cured since listening to this show. I have a book suggestion of the Adventures of Ready Fox by Thornton Burgess. This story has an amazing background drone to it and I think would be perfect to fall asleep to. If you like it I understand there is a whole series about the individual adventures of each character that are all written in the same lolling manner. I have checked and these are all available on the public domain. I hope you see review and read this book on the show. Thanks.

I’ve never heard the end of an episode….
I cannot say enough kind things about this podcast. It has become my tried and true sleep aid. The diversity in stories is amazing! Otis recently said he had a sobriety anniversary and I want to wish him a congratulations as I have recently hit a sobriety milestone too. Thank you Otis for all you do. Your presence matters and you are valued by so many people. Keep up the great work!

    Awful
Ads not conducive to sleep. I understand one can subscribe to eliminate them but there is a way to integrate them without ruining the vibe. Too much preliminary talking, and horrible stories. That lumberjack story is just atrocious.

    Great reader!
I listen to and appreciate so many of these- but as a mom, the stories that include children getting kid napped are not relaxing for bedtime. I need my mind to drift off to something less worrisome! Otherwise generally really great podcast and issues can be solved by picking another story.

    Sleepy
Absolutely the best reader if you are looking for a comfortable listening experience. His voice is deep and melodic. He doesn’t do accents just reads in a simple fashion. I am asleep almost instantly which is the point. Additionally, he has podcast The Daily Book Club where he reads from a book a chapter each day. I find that my favorite. The purpose there is not to put you to sleep but if sleep is your goal it works. I like better as readings are longer. I fall asleep and next evening just replay where I drifted off. At last a reader I can love.

These are great to listen to
This is a great add on to another sleep podcast I love. I found this podcast just in searching for sleep podcasts. I didn’t realize that the podcast I use, Nothing much happens also enjoys the Sleepy podcast. The host of NMH always recommends Sleepy. I love both host’s voices, very calming and relaxing. I pass out right away.

    The ads ruin it
I find them really jarring and annoying.

    LOUD advertisements must go
Love the stories, love the mood, and I usually fall asleep. Unfortunately there are LOUD advertisements now playing at the end of the episodes that jolt me awake.

    Sleepy is the Best
Truly struggled to fall asleep before finding this podcast. His relaxing voice and book choices are just right. been an avid listener since his first reading of wind in the willows. I’d like to request Heidi of the Alphs if possible!

    Ads at end ruin it
I have loved this show for a long time, but lately there have been loud ads at the end of the reading…so I fall asleep listening to Otis’s lovely voice, but then I’m awakened by a loud Home Depot ad! I hate that this feels like extortion to pay for the ad-free version. Won’t be listening anymore I’m afraid.

Takes too long to get to the story.
Gave up after over 5 minutes of ads. It was aggravating and kind of the opposite effect of what we are going for.
  • BrooklynMatt
    Get to the story.
Ads, ads, Patreon, Patreon names. Long intro to story. Leave a review. Too much yapping.
  • LizW-Olsen
    Very relaxing
I love these stories and the relaxing way in which they’re read. I love so many of them, but I especially love the Sherwood Anderson stories because they’re profound and unique (strange, even, in the best of ways). Also they portray a lost era in America in which you knew your neighbors—knew them well, even—and life moved at a much slower, relaxed pace. More Sherwood Anderson, please! Also I agree with another listener that I’d listen to this podcast a lot more if books were read from start to finish over 10-20 weeks, versus a chapter from one book one week and a different chapter from a different book the next, then a reading of an unrelated short story, and so on. The readings are still very good, but the bedtime story podcasts I listen to the most are the ones that read a whole book from the first to the last chapter over many weeks.

    Intoxicating reading
Otis Gray has an amazingly soothing voice. Felt like I was being rocked to sleep in a safely captained boat by an old sea salt. I loved it!

  • Lunar12$
    I DO NOT LIKE THIS
they would not go to the story they just talk and talk AND TALK NOT EVEN Reading the story because talk about new deals and is it OK now back to the story and right after they say that they took about more stuff and more stuff and more they don’t even read the freaking story. I do not recommend.

Lull Me to Sleep with Sweet Recipes
I’ve been listening for quite some time - first drawn to the podcast by the readings of the dictionary. It helps quiet the mind after a long day. But my favorite by far has been the two readings on cooking/baking! I don’t know what it is, but I just keep listening to them over and over. I have yet to fully listen to one because I fall asleep so quickly. Please more cookbooks and recipes!

    Uhh.. Disappointing
“Sleepy” stumbles out of the gate with distracting verbal tics. The narrator's frequent "uh" and "um" interruptions in the introduction set a disappointing tone. As the story unfolds, the monotone delivery fails to create the calming atmosphere expected for a sleep story podcast. Rather than drifting into dreamland, I find myself wide awake, grappling with the narrator's distracting speech patterns. For a more seamless journey to slumber, I’d look elsewhere.

    PG Wodehouse Episode
I was so enjoying your podcasts until I discovered you didn’t know how to pronounce Wodehouse Arundell Leicester I then gave up and were only 20 seconds in.

    Just one thing
I love your show and the books you read from. Your voice is very soothing and will put me right to sleep even if you don’t read completely boringly. Just one thing I’ve noticed: Your de-esser is making your words sound funny because the s is mostly silent in just about everything. Personally, I’d rather hear the whole s. Thanks!

    Good
The only podcast that I can sleep to really recommend for all. Should do more animal tales like how the camel got its hump or Hercules. It also fills me with joy seeing all the positive energy/things in the comments
  • Player815
    Ads are way too loud
I used to really like this as one of my podcasts I use to fall asleep. And then the ads started getting loud. So that, if one episode ended and another started, before I had it set to turn off, it would literally wake me up.
  • Cleaning girl
The loud ads jolt me awake
I loved Sleepy and had recommended it all the time to others having issues sleeping. I can’t recommend it anymore. I fall asleep great, but the new ads are so loud and annoyingly harsh that it wakes me up from even a nice deep sleep. No thanks. Defeats the entire purpose of why I listen to it in the first place. I’ll go back to listening to rain or waves at the beach. Bummed.

I fall asleep in minutes when I listen to Sleepy instead of hours. So glad I found Sleepy

    Relaxing.
Hello! I have been struggling with sleep for multiple years. I appreciate your podcast a lot. The loud ads can be very jarring, but otherwise I have it shut off in an hour and am conked out. Cannot support money wise, but definitely deserve more. Have a good one, and goodnight. 😴💤

    Perfect podcast!
I love listening to sleepy! I’m usually out within the first paragraph of your reading. The only negative I could possibly think of is that the sound level of the sponsor ad is sometimes high and it will occasionally wake me up when it plays on to the next episode. Other than that it’s truly lovely. Please add Anthem by Ayn Rand to the list of recordings!

    I’m obsessed!!!
I listen to this podcast every night mostly the old episodes since they’re longer but I’ve never had any trouble ever falling asleep to this. I’m out working 20 minutes compared to when I don’t listen it’s an hour to fall asleep. I’m so glad that you created this podcast. Love love love this!!!

    Horror hinders sleep
I'm addicted to this podcast! But please, no more stories about ghoulish brides and vampire maids. Spooky and sleep don't go together!
