    No thanks
A podcast’s quality is determined mostly by the time spent with the hosts and how much you enjoy it. These guys are unpleasant to “spend time” with.

    Pretty good
I really enjoy this podcast and Talking Simpsons but sometimes they go a little bit to into politics which is annoying but it’s a podcast I am not going to get upset over the fact that they don’t share the same opinions as me

    Really enjoy listening
A great podcast about animation and cartoons. The hosts provide great insight into the history of the shows they cover and are pretty funny too. They also have had great guests on the pod & I loved listening to the episodes for shows that I’ve seen & grown up with. I honestly don’t understand the “hate” that the show has gotten with negative reviews

Isn’t this a show about cartoons?
These are two relentlessly hateful “progressives” whose deep-seated resentment against conservative White Christians somehow permeates every episode of this show which is ostensibly about humorous cartoons. Incessant assertions that Canada is better than the United States, whining about or policing White voice actors playing non-White roles, and telling you which celebrities are Good and Bad according to the moral spectrum of our hosts are regular features. They somehow manage to parrot the word “racist” multiple times in every show, similarly to how their Trump Derangement Syndrome (bizarre obsession with virtue signaling against Donald Trump) persists even into the year 2023. I hope they get the help they need.

    Whining and Complaining: The Podcast!
They only like one very specific type of animation and the rest is garbage to them.

2 annoying know-it-alls talk about interesting art
A podcast doing deep dives on animation?! Wonderful! I love film in all it’s forms and that’s why it breaks my heart to leave this review. Is they what they talk about interesting? Of course! It’s thorough and detailed info about the history and making of the films/shows they discuss. Unfortunately it’s just not worth wading through the constant negative, toxic comments from these two. They’re whiny, unfunny, and incredibly judgy. They mistake sarcastic cynicism for wit, and loudly express false superiority to others. Show contempt for other opinions on subjective aspects of art. They both seem to think compiling and reading lists of facts is a deeply creative endeavor, which I don’t understand. Try it if you want, but I had to stop after 5 episodes. I can’t be “around” these people anymore.

    The Best Animation Podcast
It is hard to find a better animation podcast that this one. Bob and Henry really do their research and find a lot of interesting facts about what they are covering on an episode. Good audio quality. Interesting discussion and commentary, great guests, and wide variety of shows. Really recommend checking out for any fan of animation.

    Grownups getting offended by cartoons
Two woke dudes getting offended by children’s tv. They can’t help themselves to force woke topics into every thing. I don’t want to listen to unhappy humans whine about cartoons.

    Full circle
I loved these guys for years, but they’ve gotten so self-important I just can’t tolerate them any longer.

    Vapid trash
Two woke morons who look for anything they can to be offended over in children’s cartoons. Listened to the Garfield Christmas special and practically all of it is “hurr durr durr! Religious families are morons! White people bad! Garfield is misogynistic and an evil capitalist!” Get a life, losers
  • Snackerston
    A good show
Bob and Henry’s taking apart of cartoons, looking at the contextual surroundings of each episode and history of the voice actors and animators involved make for a real interesting lead - it’s a format we hear in Retronauts episodes they host and it’s a familiar one that digs in to the errata and present it with context to make it interesting! A fun listen, and worth the even if this is the first exposure to some of the shows on display.

A Review of "What A Cartoon!"
I had found what I had believed to had been certain parts of a certain installment of this series of recordings to had been vulgar, unnecessary, and detrimental (specifically certain parts of it involving language I had found to had been vulgar, unnecessary, and detrimental).

    Really Good Show!
This is a really awesome show! Every episode that I listen to I thoroughly enjoy. I just have one thing to say about your X-men Evolution episode. At one point you said that Sunspot wasn’t Black but Brazilian. The Brazilian part is true BUT he is also a black character. He is Afro-Brazilian and sadly this is a problem that happens in the X-Men a lot for some reason. Another example is the character Monet St. Croix. People often forget or don’t know that she is Black because of the way that they depict her in the majority of their media. It isn’t uncommon for a Black person to have a lighter complexion or more Eurocentric features but it has been done to such an extent that characters like M and Sunspot don’t even look black anymore most of the time.... It seems that I got a little off topic. I just wanted to say that you have an awesome podcast and it always makes me happy when I am able to hear people talk about their love of animation!

Exactly What I Was Looking For
I stumbled onto this podcast last summer, & I STILL can’t get over just how good it is. For me, the intense, massive history lesson at the beginning of each episode is truly what makes it. Real Ghostbusters was my gateway episode; Tiny Toons made me become a patron! HIGHLY recommended for all fans of animation!
  • zipfrisbie
    Excellent show
The hosts don’t just talk about whether a cartoon is good or not they take a deep dive on every episode about production history and those involved you might not know about. Their insights are awesome and Henry and Bob are great! Keep em coming!
  • asinine23
Cartoons discussion with far right talking points
Decent conjecture until the introduction of vapid political views; every episode.
  • fauxdude
    Pretty Deece
The hosts have Opinions, which they are not afraid to share at any opportunity, but otherwise have great chemistry and generally like what they talk about. If they don’t like a show or a person who worked on it, you’ll know. If you enjoy animation history and don’t mind a little leftism thrown into the mix, this show is for you.
  • Wolfduder
    Needs improvement/new focus
Hosts are way too old and out of provide any relevant opinions on the shows they cover. I suppose if you’re in your mid 40s and only know Scooby Doo and He-Man, this could be up your alley if you don’t mind the hand-wringing and sad sack approach.
  • brunomansilla
    Find animation history somewhere else
Often inaccurate, with half baked political “opinions” sprinkled all over, two self-righteous drug addicts try to tackle animation history. They ask for money constantly. Skip this one

  • ArchGeek
Decent show weighed down by SJW political points
The episodes I’ve listened to have been pretty good, but they get a bit too preachy when it comes to certain topics. Getting upset over the cultural differences of an 80’s Manga/Anime that takes place in a fantasy world where dinosaurs can talk and an anthropomorphic dog is president, because of parallels drawn to our world...it’s a stretch. (India doesn’t exist in the Dragon Ball universe). It’s a bit xenophobic and very stereotypical “American” to forget that these pieces of art were made for a different audience with a different culture, not 2020 progressive White dudes from America. They also falter when injecting neo-feminism into their reviews of Tiny Toons and other shows. Let escapism be escapism. Understand what audience the art was created for. Entertainment created for boys is under attack, look at what’s happened to American comic books for example. Now, I’ll stop preaching myself. Keep politics out of entertainment, let kids be kids, and let escapism be just that, a way for folks to escape from the perils of reality.

    Whining and cynicism ruin it
Vast and encyclopedic knowledge is spoiled by incessant whining and cynicism. You get a lot of great insight, but be prepared for a healthy dose of virtue-signaling and bitterness. I initially subscribed at the $10 tier and quickly regretted it. I thought I would give it another shot and lasted about twenty minutes.

Probably the best cartoon podcast out there
I have a few classic cartoon podcasts in my feed and this one is by far the most fun to listen to. There's SO many great sound clips from the episode, songs, etc that it makes other podcasts without sound clips feel like a gigantic waste of time. Love everything these guys do and this is no exception. This podcast takes me right back and it's a joy to drift off to the nostalgia land while sitting in my cube at work.

Good Show - Came from Retronauts
I found What a Cartoon because I am a big fan of Retronauts. Yet again, these guys bring their strong backgrounds to the table for solid analysis with a very lighthearted, humorous and often improvisational tone. Highly recommended for fans of Retronauts and cartoons alike!

    Great show
Good stuff I’d love to hear more about older cartoons. Especially enjoyed the Daffy Duck and Duck Tales episodes. I guess I’m a duck enthusiast!
