    Slam and Jam
What’s up with slam and jam? That’s the good one (with Andrew and Alex). If Slam and Jam is dead yall should let us know so I don’t have to keep checking my feed for good NBA content like an idiot.

Tatum & Brown: 2 Great Female Athletes
Mannnnnnn….. Is this a Generational thing? Is it a Feminization thing? Is this how our young black male athletes have been socialized into being so feminine? All they do is whine about nonsense. Who were their male role models? Feminine “men” ain’t it? The NBA is in a bad place with all these Feminized American Born & Raised Basketball players…..

Mo Dakhil adds nothing to the show
I am long time listener, and at this point, I skip any episode that Mo is hosting. No hate at all, as I think his unique experience working for nba teams has its value, but none of it shows up in his commentary. His takes often poorly paraphrase what the most basic contrarian take of the moment is, or exactly what his cohost has already put in better words. I think his experience could be fascinating, but he rarely injects insight from these moments into his takes or opinions. Its such a bummer to enjoy this show’s many energetic, and insightful hosts only to turn on a episode where he slows everything down to make terrible jokes and boring takes that everyone already has heard. Not to mention constantly repeating himself until he runs out of steam or loses his train of thought, and “playfully” browbeating cohosts. I wish there was a Mo Dakhil-less feed.

Slam n Jam - Andrew & Sam are ‘n sync
Great show from summer league! These two have a great rapport. And yes, I’m with you. This show is missing our best analyst and glue guy, Alex. Great show!

    It’s ok
Too much OKC homerism. They need to rename the podcast to Thunder Talk

You can be an NBA podcaster!
If these guys can make a career out of talking about the NBA, don’t give up on your dreams kids, ‘cause there’s no way you’d be worse than them.

    Dave DuFour ruins this podcast
Everything about this show is great, except for the unexplainable addition of Dave DuFour. Without exaggeration, he is unbearable. I find the sound of his voice to be offensive. The only adequate comparison would be the sound of nails on a chalkboard, but nails also belong to a honey badger and the chalkboard is on fire. I propose a listener boycott until the Athletic takes the only humane course of action, by terminating Mr. DuFour immediately and issuing an apology to subscribers. Other than that, a really solid listen!

    Good break down
They do a good after analysis of the games. They do great by getting right to the games and are not superfluous like other podcasters. A pet peeve of mine though, is the constant “like” by one of them. But overall it’s a good podcast.

    Enjoying the playoffs postgame recaps
The homie Dave Defour asked those of us who are enjoying the late night postgame recaps to say so--count me in. I appreciate the late hours the hosts and editors are putting in. Thanks to all of you!

    Enjoying The Immediate Reactions
Keep up the great coverage NBA Athletic Team. Really enjoying having an immediate reaction podcast after every playoff night of basketball.

    How I Start my Day
Every weekday morning, I wake up at 7:30 am, walk to the bathroom and tell my unnamed virtual assistant to “play the newest episode of The NBA Show.” Wether we are Tampering, hanging with the basketbuds or having a lil shoot around of the league with Slam and Jam, I know I have 30 minutes to 2 hours worth of basketball to get my brain working. My only fear now, is the loss of Al on Slam and Jam. It’s a good thing I love Katz, because a lesser substitute may have begun a revolution.

Love the playoff postgame show - bring back the daily ding!!
Would love postgame shows throughout the playoffs! Miss the Daily Ding!

    Slam n Jam!
Slam n Jam is the absolute best. I get so tired of other podcasts who spend months asking “Sure, but can [blank team] do it in the playoffs?” How boring! Slam n Jam, on the other hand, shows why the regular season is interesting. Each week, they highlight interesting storylines and questions for each and every team. They make the regular season matter. More generally, I enjoy the Athletic Podcast network. Honorable mention goes to Tampering, and it made my week to hear Fred Katz on the Slam n Jam this week. Andrew, I think you produce for Basket Buds. Please tell Zach Harper and Jay King to be nicer to each other. :)

    Weird
It’s sad how far you guys go out of your way to not talk about the lakers
  • WontonSam
    Not a well-informed podcast.
Followed this feed for a while and tried to sprinkle it in to my NBA listening diet but it is just so hard to get through a full episode. Really obvious that the hosts only watch a handful of west coast teams and are fully unaware about what’s happening around the league. Consistently bad regurgitation of First Take-style talking points. Like nails in a chalkboard.

    Bias
If your team is from the Western conference this is your post cast, but if your team happens to be from the East prepare yourself to be anoyed.. These guys love to trash the eastern conference teams while glorifying the West.

    Thank you
Hey guys! What a season it was! With the season winding down I would like to recap one of my favorite moments! On my favorite segment “the wheel of fandom” you guys landed on the bucks! When you had on my guy Eric neihm you also threw out an amazing promo code for kosirs rafting and pesh fest! I got to listen to some awesome bucks trivia and I got to save money on my vacation! Thank you guys so much! The code slama jam saved me ten percent on my wrist band for the festival!

One Podcast To Rule Them All
Without a doubt, the best basketball podcast out there. Each day of the week is a different “show” with its own hosts, who bring different perspectives & structure to their weekly episode. I love them all & hope they never stop making it.

    SLAM & JAM.
Best NBA content on earth. Missing the old intro. Looking forward to the Josh Robbins/L-Man Comic pod spin off.

    Slam and jam
This is my first time listening to the pod without my boyfriend around, listened while working on my dissertation and just thoroughly enjoyed the charming back and forth y’all have, really made the time pass nicely. Only complaint? For wizards week y’all did not talk about Anthony gill enough. As Anthony gill’s second biggest fan (I imagine his wife is first) he is getting so many minutes and no matter how much he is on the sidelines during a season, he always has a good contribution. Gotta spread the love But that complaint aside, really just thoroughly enjoy the pod, it’s always a fun convo to listen in on. Love, Kc (wizardstrashtalker’s girlfriend)

    Zach Harper / Harp Harper
It’s bad enough you tell people to give you a five star review (so tacky) but then you know, you don’t actually focus on having a quality show. Zach Harper really is obnoxious and most of the people on here aren’t that much better. There’s a lot of people doing basketball related content; you actually should have some insights or something interesting to say; you can’t just give recaps of what people are talking about Twitter (X) and act like you’re doing something valuable.
  • Timo1234625638
    Love most of the shows
A lot of good content but for the love of god, Zack Harper’s banter is tedious, annoying, and adds no value to my interest in basketball.

Slam & Jam - WIZARDS AGENDA (we’re sad, ok)
The fans are clamoring “bring back that weird Wizards guy!” At this point for a Wizards fan, the best thing that could happen to us is for Josh Robbins (that weird wizards guy) and Fred Katz (the old weird wizards guy) to make a joint appearance on the Slam and Jam. Our entire roster of crummy players are injured and somehow Jordan Poole is still coming off the bench. We can’t even enjoy watching growth out of our young players, save for Corey Kispert (don’t you dare mention Johnny Davis). It was commendable of Andrew to spin a new Wheel Of Fandom team after getting the Nets a second time, but even we don’t want you to get the Wizards. Bring on Josh Robbins and Fred Katz anyway, they’re not busy. It would be the best moment in a Wizards fan’s season. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ never change.

    My first podcast review EVER!
I’ve listened various NBA podcasts. Daily Ding was favourite. Sadly I had to look for alternatives, gladly I found Slam-N-Jam (what a FOUND it was, Andrew!) Not looking forward to Nets - saw them against Grizzlies in NY - quality wise it was low budget x rated movie). My fav part of pod - TRIVIA! 1995-ish questions takes back to my NBA Panini albums collection and times I’ve first experienced NBA trades - sticker of super star (Sabonis) was enough to pick up more assets (three rotation players from whatever team, except Bulls). I loved this game before I’ve met my first girlfriend in country which re-gained independence in 1990’s NBA sparkled the excitement what Western World provides and what we’ve been missing out on for decades. Greetings from Vilnius, Lithuania!

    old man screams at chair
Big fan of the Slam and Jam, less so others in the feed. Changing my review to 5 stars to praise Andrew and Alex for being the second best NBA podcast out there, with a huge gap between them and 3rd, AND to say that I too have long been hoping you’ll bring back the “weird” Wizards dude - he’s a hoot!
  • JonathanZielinski
I’m not even interested in most of the teams you cover
But I listen anyway because of several factors: The dulcet sounds of Alex Speers narration- you should read audio books. Even when I know you’re going to say, “that is incorrect,” I’m still a little surprised. The self-effacing nature of Andrew Shlecht- you clearly know a lot but your humility makes you accessible. Lastly, you get great guests that are very at ease and willing to try things most would avoid- like testing their knowledge about a team they’re supposed to be experts in. Great job guys, keep up the great work.
  • Bwlrdude
    Always a good listen
I’ve been listening to Andrew and Alex for a while a couple of years. I enjoy their insights to the week of basketball and their interactions with the guests. But the highlight for me is the trivia game. Even though y’all make me feel old for not remembering some of the fringe guys from the NBA when I was your age (I’m 54), I highly recommend. Keep up the good work fellas! #RipCity

    Wemby
Wemby is the runaway ROY. Chet plays with an MVP candidate and a MI candidate. This apples v oranges. Wemby will be a 20/10 guy and lead the league in blocks. Chet doesn’t rebound. Besides Chet is in his second year. Not a rookie. Be on the right side of history.

Slam N Jam - Great Podcast
I always enjoy this podcast. The hosts don't spend excess amounts of time talking about the Lakers, Lebron. the Warriers, Steph, Phoenix, KD, etc. like some podcasts do. Good to hear more about the smaller market teams, I always enjoy the quiz, even though I rarely know many answers. Keep it up
  • KoahakuRiver
Ok for Casual Listeners, Frustrating for Basketball Fans
You won’t find much insight here, though it’s entertainment enough to have in the background when they can stay on the topic of basketball. If you’re looking for info about other teams that aren’t yours I’d stay away, they’re analysis is kiddie pool shallow. You won’t hear about the plays teams run, in depth discussions about any player that isn’t a top 10 player (even then it’s not much). You will get box score info, personal opinions that you could’ve gotten in the comments, and the same feelings you got in college reading that paper you fluffed with word salad to meet the word minimum. 2.5/5, should be a morning ESPN show or something played in waiting rooms

    5 stars
I appreciate all the athletic’s nba coverage, but hoping to get this review read and draw attention to the fact that Sam Vecenie’s podcast doesn’t get updated in the Athletic app. It occasionally gets updated in a big backlog tranche, then months will pass before it updates again. Presently hasn’t updated since nov 8th, and your own D2D podcast is missing updates, too, most recently the “Thunder stun the Wolves.” Not sure if it’s a technical issue, or if Sam doesn’t get the files over to you or Dufour or whomever, or if it’s the Nytimes tech fault but I’d love to get an answer from Andrew.

Disgusting Handling of Reporting a Tragedy
I listen to this show every week and generally like it. The decision Alex Speers and Andrew Schlecht made on reporting the tragic passing of Dejan Milojevic in the middle of the rest of the “what happened in the NBA this week” was tasteless and insensitive. A man died, and you made the CONSCIOUS editorial decision to list the news of his passing alongside the box scores and trades of the week, like it was business as usual. If you are going to report on his death, do it separately at the start or end and please for the love of God cut the corny music and back track to make it SONICALLY AND THEMATICALLY different because … a man died. This was disrespectful and if either of you have half a spine you’ll amend it and do it correctly on another episode. You handled the most important news of the week clumsily, you should both be ashamed.

    Slam
Well Andrew, it all started a few years ago while I was remodeling my bathroom. In true NBA podcast sicko fashion, I had already listened to the other 11 shows I had downloaded that week. Then on came the Saturday Slam

    Slam & Jam Faithful
S&J is an incredible mix of NBA recap, analysis on stat points on an interesting player or team, and just straight entertainment with great guests (and who could not love Andrew vs The Beat!). You are sure to get a healthy dose of anything you’re looking for from an NBA show. Overall great pod and led by two of the best. PS - Proud DTD crossover - Thunder are back baby!!!

    Upload quality is terrible
The content is generally great, but a bunch is lost because the episodes skip and jump constantly. Other podcasts do not have these glitches and failures. Fix it.

    Slam N Jam Rave Review
I want to take a second to give a shoutout to the amazing hosts. Alex - as a gameshow host you are fantastic, every week you are consistently bringing the swagger of a young Mike O’Malley. The amount of time and effort you put into segments like “which team was a preseason surprise good team that is fake and will actually be bad now” would be considered a huge waste of time by my father, but you have turned that into an actual job

    Saturday Slam n Jam review
From your pal d00dbuffet: shoutout to the amazing hosts. Alex — as a game show host you bring the swagger of a young mike o’malley, and the amount of time and effort you put into segments like “which team was a preseason surprise good team that is fake and will actually be bad now” would be considered a huge waste of time by my father, but you have turned that into an actual job. and I am so so proud of you for that d00d. and andrew — what can be said about you that hasn’t already been said about tom hanks? you are the engine that makes this whole thing go. your basketball analysis and trivia knowledge is second to none, and you deliver your information in a perfect podcast voice, gentle yet firm. like my favorite uncle reading me a bedtime story. the magic was inside of you this entire time. thank you for your gifts you have shared with the athletic and all of us. may we always Rise Together -d00dbuffet
