Nutrition #27

Welcome to Good Bodies, a “wellness” entertainment podcast where all bodies are good bodies. If you’re still reeling from the toxic diet culture of the early 2000s (justice for Jessica Simpson) and constantly quoting your therapist, then Emily Lubin and Lauren Hope Krass are here to help you laugh (so you don’t cry). Diets can’t sit with us anymore but there’s a place at the table for body neutrality, body positivity, intuitive eating, and hot takes about which non-dairy creamer pairs best with our sharp cheddar cheese omelettes. I love this podcast. The hosts are wonderful ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Been with you through the years
Hi! I started listening way back when with the original hosts when it was Diet Starts Tomorrow. I must say, this newest version of the pod with Lauren and Emily is my favorite. It’s funny, relatable and informative (esp loved the sunscreen episode), all while smashing diet culture. Keep it coming ladies!

    No longer for me
I’ve been a DST listener since the beginning but over time the content has shifted and no longer resonates with me. I miss the days of Sami and Aleen. Just not for me anymore!

Loved Emily & Remi…now it’s not for me
I started listening to DST a few months ago. I wasn’t crazy about it but when I went back to older episodes with Emily and Remi I really loved them. Lauren means well but she says nothing of substance, and they’ve completely lost any credibility with regards to the science around weight and the consequences of being obese.

Love, love, love Lauren & Emily!
I don’t really know where to begin. I started listening a little over a year ago and immediately felt like these lovely humans are able to articulate a lot of the feelings I have had over my life about my body issues, my disordered eating, and just my lack of confidence overall. I loved Remy and hope she comes back for some guest spots, but when Lauren joined she shared things that I have never had to the ability to say to myself or to those who love me. I love this show because they are super thoughtful and insightful and have really helped me to start to explore so much of the sadness and anxiety that has been attached to my relationship with my body, movement, food, and so much more. Thank you Lauren and Emily for hosting such a thought provoking podcast!

    Funny, informative, space space
I started listening to (then called) DST when Sami and Aleen hosted and I was deep into diet culture. So happy to have grown and evolved with the show and new hosts Lauren and Emily. They’re a breath of fresh air I look forward to the eps every week!! Every episode has something relevant AND makes me laugh.

    What is this content?
Ads for Impossible Foods? Stop trying to pretend this is “healthy”. And then we have Emily’s rant about how a discussion on whether a ravioli is like a dumpling is pointless. You know what is pointless? Ten minutes of that on this podcast. And two grown women not knowing how to pronounce Vichy after claiming to be so familiar with the French pharmacies and the skincare you can get. You want to talk about skincare? Bring on a dermatologist. Don’t tell me you have no skincare routine and then act like you’re versed enough to have a podcast episode about it. Two women with no children talking about how kids only eat things if they are coated in sugar? On a podcast that has little or nothing to do with parenting ? I think this episode was my last straw and I’ve been here since the beginning.

    REFUND FOR YEAR SUBSCRIPTION?!
How do you plan to refund the subscription fee paid when premium content is no longer provided? I paid for a subscription as a fan of Aleen and Sami.

This has become shaming and misinformation
As a healthcare provider this show is a TOUGH listen now. There are so many flaws with diet culture, yes. However, this podcasts’ failure to acknowledge that millions of Americans DO need to lose weight to prevent premature death or serious morbidity misses a crucial part of health and wellness. Calling providers who don’t diagnose people who submit questions to a Q+A a shill or politician shows you don’t understand that you can’t just diagnose someone who isn’t you patient without an actual health history and comprehensive assessment. This is just as shame-y of those who want to improve their metabolic health - reduce their visceral fat (which IS a major health risk) and lose weight as someone telling someone they look terrible.
  • SBMRW
    Scientific studies
They shouldn’t talk about scientific studies on this podcast unless they learn more about how to interpret a scientific study. For example, they kept referencing that 225 citations supported that weight loss doesn’t improve health. Every single citation in a paper does not mean that it’s another study supporting that study it can be background information. It can be anything.

Why am I paying for ads?
Just listened to the most recent episode and, as a paying subscriber, I would love to know why I’m forking over money to hear a 20 minute ad for impossible foods. Such obvious empty content. Do better, please.

    What is even happening
This is a complete waste. 0 substance. The one sided bias makes this show completely unappealing to people who enjoy health and wellness and fitness.

    Loved DST before the rebrand
I feel left behind after the rebrand. DST used to say out loud the things I was thinking about myself and made me I feel seen. I came in with Remy and Emily and I really felt connected to their openness about struggles with disordered eating - and how you can feel bad even when you are in the healed stage. As someone who has always struggled with my body even though I’m on the up - it made it feel like my struggles were normal too. Now it’s just another podcast with two girls talking. I held out as long as I could but it’s not the podcast for me anymore. Sad that the space DST created no longer exists.

    Missing times of ‘yore
I’m sorry but please replace the new girls, or add more substance to this… it’s very gabby without any kind of insights or educational aspect. I commiserate with my friends. I want to come here to commiserate AND get a different perspective from my own, maybe even with some research behind it.

    Love Lauren and Emily
Obsessed with everything they have to say, they are the coolest and I learn from them so much. Love listening to this every week and hearing their thoughts.
  • mooreparties
    Sadly unsubscribing
I hope you find the audience you’re looking for with the rebrand because as an OG DSTer I can’t listen to the show anymore. It’s not fun. It feels like I’m being shamed constantly. The guests are biased or unrelated to the topic. Was trying to hold out but this show has become unbearable and unrelatable.

    Glad to be back
I stopped listening when the new hosts came on. I just couldn’t connect anymore. I’ve recently begun listening again when Lauren began and the dynamic is great! I love her insight and Emily and Lauren as co hosts

    Completely different podcast now
I’d been a DST listener since the start and have tried to stick around since Sami and Aleen departed, but I just can’t listen to a single-minded view on body positivity and wellness anymore. Emily and Lauren seem to only rant about how bad Ozempic is and how no one should want to lose weight, yet the only experts they’ve had on have been those who support those same narrow views. As someone diagnosed with binge eating disorder who uses semaglutide to manage food noise (and who is now able to actually eat intuitively instead of restricting and binging) I just feel judged when I listen to them. I wasn’t looking for a return to the original format where Sami and Aleen were often trying different diets every other week, but I’d like to actually hear about wellness and healthy movement instead of just complaining.
  • Cruzgirl82
    Very relatable
I started listening when Lauren join the DST family and I just love Lauren and Emily together. They make me feel like one of their girlfriends. The conversations never feel force and love how they feed off each other’s energy. I’ve recently jumped off the societal toxic weight loss band wagon and feel like I’ve found my people. Keep being you and can’t wait for more shows with you both. Love it and excited about the possible future name change.
  • Blu435
Emily just rambles on . Love Lauren .
Emily can prep some talking points before recording the pod. She talks without any relevance to the pod. Like in the latest episode she just goes on and on about umbrellas lol. Lauren brings a lot of good points to the discussions but what can she do if Emily is always so off topic. Maybe get a new cohost to match Lauren. I can't listen to Emily and her musings about sneakers and umbrellas.
  • amymbray5
Do not like the new host
I have listened to this podcast for yearssss but can no longer listen with Lauren. She makes everything about herself and clearly wants to go viral. The tone of the show has changed for the negative and I miss the old hosts/content.

Like being in the room with friends
I love this podcast- Emily and Lauren have great conversation and are funny, thoughtful and insightful. It’s really like being in the room with friends. I love the attention to a variety of topics especially those that pertain to women, body image, health and relationships. Thanks for the great show!
  • aeaoiisrg
Lauren is a breath of fresh air!
Loving the dynamic between Lauren and Emily. I think they both bring a lot to the table and their conversations feel more aligned with “OG” DST. I appreciate how fat friendly it is (especially without excluding or demeaning anyone else) and I think listeners of all sizes will find something of value from both of these hosts :)
  • Kambric
Love Lauren as the new cohost!
I’m really enjoying Lauren Hope Krass as the new co-host! She’s super funny off the cuff but also brings a really fresh spin to the podcast with her experience as a plus size person. Also loving all the new segments. I definitely have some food pinions of my own 😂
  • linds stabs
    Yay
Back for seconds is my fav! I Subscribe just to hear more of Aleen and Sami. Was so happy to discuss the (over?)emphasis of breastfeeding for new moms in the caretaking / capitalism episode
  • FloofBoiFan
    LOVE The New Host!
No shade to other hosts but I am LIVING for new co-host Lauren! It just feels right having a plus size perspective on the show AND she’s funny, smart, and has great chemistry with rest of the team? 🔥🔥🔥🫡🫡🫡👑👑👑💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻

    Great Listen
I’m a new listener and love tuning in every week. I felt very similar to Remy which is what got me hooked. I like the new host but she interrupts Emily SO much. I think she’ll find her groove but please let Emily finish her thoughts and don’t feel the need to fix the issues she’s talking about.
  • Llegs
Love Red Vines, but I love you more!
I love the foodpinions, keep them! I also think that Lauren is a great addition to the pod, although we all Stan Remi, I’m so enjoying Lauren’s lighthearted takes and effortless humor. My Red Vines secret is that they’re nasty fresh but amazing stale. They get the chew of a twizzler but a more intense flavor. My mom and I discovered this by purchasing Red Vine loosies out of the Costco tub at the $1 theater in San Diego the 90s. It started a tradition of buying a small pack before Passover, opening them, and waiting to eat them until the holiday is over a week later.

    Emily + Lauren = Perfection
Loving the new hosting duo. These two women have a rich understanding of diet-culture, anti-fat bias, EDs, and body image—while also being brilliant comedians…soooo good! We’ve all spent too much time bonding with other women via being self critical (“fat talk”)—this podcast is the anecdote, rewiring our brains to think about friendship, our bodies, and our culture through a new lens. LOVE LOVE LOVE
  • Britknee00
    Not the same show
Hate the new format. Hate that podcasters think we just want to hear their opinions on the most mundane daily topics. Dont waste your time.
  • julesxo7
    Be reallllll
They make it such a point to be “body positive” but it seems that they lean so much towards the plus size/fat community that it almost contradicts their purpose. They are so positive regarding the plus size/fat community and often times make comments that can be hurtful to those who are considered slim,“acceptable body standard”, petite, etc. It feels like all you guys do is promote living a fat lifestyle which is so ridiculous.
  • TEC90
    Honest and relatable
I haven’t been a longtime listener but I enjoy listening to the episodes! To me it feels like honest conversation about difficult topics. Do I always agree with the takes? No, but it feels like talking with a friend and hearing different perspectives. I like when they include Lauren to get a true plus size perspective as well. I relate to the struggles and appreciate them discussing topics beyond just diet and exercise and how other things play a role in our body image. To be honest, I don’t really enjoy the older episodes because the ones I have listened to seemed to perpetuate some toxic ideas and diet culture. Looking forward to hearing more from Emily and Lauren and whoever the new host is

Intuitive Eating Isn’t the Holy Grail for Everyone
Y’all lost me on the Oprah weight loss drug episode. I take Wegovy and it has been a life changer for me. I can empathize with all of the things Oprah said; food noise is a real thing. Food addiction is a real thing. Ever heard of binge eating disorder? It’s an actual disease. To come back to the point over and over that intuitive eating is the only way to go is insulting. I am almost 40 years old, you think I haven’t tried and failed 1 million times? Bye.
  • Ryan VHF
I may be hungry, but I’m still sexy
Most of the time these girls have me cracking up because I can relate so well. When it comes to the eating disorders, the disordered eating the body dysmorphiaThe punishments, the rejections in the self judments I myself put up on me and my parental daughters in this life. This stuff is real, this stuff is true, and this Stuff is therapy to the soul for those who have ever struggled. A little bit too many F bombs but sometimes we gotta take the bad with the good.
  • gghh1223
    No longer a listener
I was a fan until I heard Tracey Carnazzo on a recent episode. She’s a mean girl from another podcast. The last straw for me was the ozempic episode that came off very judgmental. Not very sympathetic to those who need these drugs and not coming from a place of intelligent discussion. I can’t listen anymore.
  • DST MASH
    Unfortunate & uneducated
I’ve been a listener since Sami & Aleen first had the Keto Guido on—and I always appreciated the diverse conversation, non-bias and evolution that both the experts and S&A brought to the show. That being said and I’m sure the current hosts are doing their best, yet Remi & Emily primarily speak using their opinions, and experts are rarely featured anymore. The conversation often sounds hypothetical and uneducated. I understand this is not a medical podcast, but some of it is fairly frightening and the Betches hold higher quality than this! I still subscribe for Back for Seconds episodes — but this may need to change as I can get my S&A doses from Betches. Thank you for trying to make it work for as long as you have !
  • hbkrunner
    Misinformation
I had to stop mid episode to write this. The ozempic episode is absolutely absurd. The hosts are ‘speaking from experience’ and ‘based on my own personal feelings’ about addiction, weight stigma etc. These are topics with research to support them. Their uninformed opinions are not worth being on this platform
  • JaneyKate
    Fun and helpful
I don’t listen to every episode, but the ones I do I enjoy!

    Misinformation
A lot of it on this podcast

    Different show, bad new hosts
Sami and Aleen spoke from intelligent thinking. They theorised in an engaging yet not boring way. Sami and Aleen were also genuinely funny. Remy and Emily are topical and people pleasers— laugh at anything/everything without true opinion. It’s a VERY different approach and a highly annoying one
  • Melly💙
    Relatable 💙
Relatable as fellow Virgo Jew! Thanks for covering a variety of relatable topics outside of the box of regular diet culture topics!
  • almost30 and okay
    dst is da simple truth
as someone with an ongoing ED struggle, I really relate to these discussions and love everyone who’s come on as guests! You’ve all touched on this subject personally, but I would really appreciate an episode discussing the issue of whether and how to share these disorders with a partner 💜
  • Greentea cupz
    Great new hosts!!!
    Love them!

Haven’t been able to get into the 2.0 version
Update: I no longer listen to the normal episodes, only the Back for Seconds episodes. I just don’t vibe with the new hosts unfortunately. Hoping they’ll announce new hosts soon. Original Review: Sticking around for the bonus episodes for now, but haven’t been able to get into the new hosts.

    So freakin funny!
The hosts have a great back and forth and the content is always painfully relatable

    Intuitive eating
Wow, listening to Lauren Hope Krass talk about Intuitive Eating was refreshing, inspiring, honest, and funny! What a delightful storyteller! Thank you for sharing your story.

I was a switch witch kid!
My mom had this rule for us in the 90s 😂, though we had a charitable component in that she told us our extraneous candy went to less fortunate kids who weren’t allowed to trick or treat when in reality it went to my dads coworkers lol Love this show and you two! Thanks for what you’re doing and sharing ❤️

    Disappointed
Disappointed with the change in hosts. :( Find the new host unrelatable and very boring. Miss the old show.
