    Ew
    Awful, misogynistic drivel.

    attention to detail
Always carefully researched and thought out. Exhibits a remarkable ability for critical thinking and analysis and uniquely gifted in communicating the same. A truth-teller.

    Not since Rush
Not since Rush Limbaugh has there been anybody better at understanding and translating the left: how they think, what their motives are, what they are trying to say and why they are dangerous. Just the other day I wanted to see a good response to the book Reading While Black, and the first thing I did was search the archives of Conversations That Matter for a 2021 discussion of the topic.

    Level
Jon always approaches issues level headed and is willing to laugh at himself at times. Great pod. The American Churchman shouldn’t be skipped either.

    Always consistent
Always high quality people and content. Much listen if you are a serious Christian.

    Serious Reformed Podcast
This is one of the best Christian podcasts out there. Jon understands the historic faith and how to separate it from cultural trends.

    Very hinged and sane
I love listening to Jon talk about issues because he always approaches them with sense, graciousness, humility, and a thoroughly Christian outlook. He is not looking to stir the pot or start a fight; he just wants to be faithful to Christ, and it shows

#1 hands down the best podcast on Christianity and culture
Jon is a thoughtful and careful thinker, and his podcast covers the most relevant topics including the most knowledgeable guests. Many of the episodes are evergreen and remain relevant months or years after release. Definitely worth your time!

    Ok
Mostly good but it seems that it usually takes 60 minutes for a 30 minute podcast worth of material.

    Excellent Podcast
I’ve listened to this podcast for several years now. Jon does his homework and is very knowledgeable especially in the topic of Social Justice. He also has great guests and discusses various topics that affect the church. I highly recommend checking it out.

    Witch Hunters
These guys are nothing more than people that like to complain. They are witch hunters and are looking for the next scandal. It’s pretty sad to see this division they like to bring on. Would not recommended this podcast unless you want to listen to whiners and false teachers.

Get to the Point & Stay on Point
I appreciate the values of the host and the subject matter, but please get to the point and stay on point. Like Al Mohler, the host takes 1000 words to say what should be said with 100 words. Please get rid of the extraneous information and rabbit trails.

    So-called “Discernment Ministries”
Most of these so-called “Discernment Ministries” are the most lacking in actual, biblical discernment. Not to mention the fruits of the Spirit. Titus 3:10–11 tells us to mark and avoid men like this.

    Steve Lawson
I think your assessments of Steve Lawson and his situation are untimely and self serving. This is an opportunity to put the gospel of Jesus Christ in the spotlight! How does the gospel effect our lives? Before and after salvation is forgiveness of sins. This is what we preach, the grace of God in our lives. You have taken a personal punch at a man, and in your desire to point out the weaknesses you saw before the revelation, you have thrown him under the bus. I have found your podcast to come off as a platform for you to put yourself in the middle of many controversial topics to posture yourself as an authoritative voice. You in reality prove you love drama. This podcast was Not helpful.

    It’s Kristen Du-MAY
Again, if you’re gonna slander people, at least show them the respect of pronouncing their names correctly. I genuinely don’t know how you can even pretend to engage someone’s beliefs if you can’t even say their name correctly, but that’s honestly the least of my concerns with your podcast. The one upside about this podcast is I’ve gotten a lot dumber since I started listening to it which is great for keeping my pride in check

Great mix of culture and biblical wisdom
I am so glad Jon is putting out new podcasts more frequently. I always listen to him before the other biblical culture/political commentators. Thanks Jon!

Just A Bunch of Christian Nationalists Complaining
If you’re in search of a podcast for Christian Nationalists who lament the existence of the LGBTQ community, the racial diversity of America, women’s rights, and all things that do NOT idolize the Conservative past, then this show is for you. SMH.

Wisdom Matters - Well Reasoned Biblical Commentary
It’s getting concerning how many Christians are inconsistent and being illogical on many cultural issues from abortion to a long history of choosing the less we of two evils in a broken political system. Very strange how few people can walk and chew gum at the same time. Or for those who don’t understand that reference can acknowledge a person or idea is wrong or even bad but can do good elsewhere when applied under various circumstances. Very strange the inability of people to disagree on xyz and then therefore refuse to agree on issue abc that they have in common bc of the source. A common logic fallacy

    On MacArthur March podcast
Not sure why you feel the need to attack this man. Can’t he just be making different points at different times as political knowledge is gained? Disappointed in this overly critical rant. Don’t know if I’ll continue to listen to this podcast.

Should be titled Conversations That *Don’t* Matter.

    Great content bad format
Great content. But episodes are way too long. Keep up the fight bro.

    Good content but lengthy
I absolutely love this podcast! Content is great. Just wish it was shorter.

    Focus!
I want to like this podcast! I have tried so many times, as you cover good, relevant topics. You need to focus though! All of your broken sentences and rabbit trails leave me so frustrated! I cannot track when you are reviewing a book or article. It becomes all muddy as you interject all your thoughts and reasons for your thoughts before you e even fully introduced the subject at hand. Made it 10 minutes into an episode today and stopped. I had forgotten the point 10 minutes in, or maybe you hadn’t made one yet. Please hear this as constructive. You have great things to say, and I believe they come from a Biblical point of view.

    Good podcast
    Excellent podcast with good detail

One of the best Christian podcasts out there
I’ve been listening to Jon for years. I especially appreciate that his work is grounded not only theologically, but historically as well—I think his clear analysis of the issues related to “social justice” is largely thanks to this. (I would highly recommend his first book, “Social Justice Goes to Church.” Slightly corny title, but offers an excellent historical analysis of the Evangelical left and its genesis.) Subject matter varies significantly, which keeps it interesting, but also means you may find some episodes more relevant to your situation than others. I appreciate his political commentary, especially his willingness to engage with paleo-conservative thought and thinkers on the Right that are often overlooked by Evangelicals.

    Educational
Jon has a lot of informative episodes regarding the attacks on various denominations from worldly ideologies.

Thanks Jon! Conversations that Matter is a “go to” for me. Very well-reasoned conversations and great interviews/debates.

    Great Job
My husband and I have learned a lot from Jon. Trying to make sense of the crazy things going on in our old church and the world. We’re thankful for men like you!

    Interesting content
Thanks for the time and effort you put in to creating each episode. While I don’t always agree with your perspective, you often give me lots to think about. I appreciate it!

    Excellent!
Appreciate the thoughtful biblical approach in discussing current issues. Thank you Jon!
  • BlessedBunch
    Thankful for this Biblical discernment
This podcast consistently points to Christ and is not afraid to call out the dangers of false teaching & social gospel in todays churches. The episode on the IF:Gathering is very true & convicting about where things are going with women and the church.

    Stalker
This dude straight up stalks people online like a predator. He is obsessed with following a handful of people (Jemar, Beth, Sandra, Kyle, etc) and completely reporting misinformation or twisted information. This type of behavior reflects a true narcissist who thinks he knows the everything. I’m sorry J, but 7.2 billion people don’t revolve around job and your theology and worldview.
  • Rebecca_zeigerr
    So helpful!!
This podcast is a great tool to help give a biblical and discerning perspective to so many of the issues going on in the church and our culture. Jon is very level headed, clear and discerning. I look forward to every new podcast and am so thankful for how it has helped me in so many ways!

Articulating current events from a Biblical worldview
If you want to better understand current events from a Biblical worldview, this is the podcast for you. Jon helps listeners articulate a Christian perspective as it relates events that are often controversial in the general public. Listen and get equipped!
  • JDHibb
    Unhelpful
This is simply another Christian “discernment” podcast that lacks nuance and thoughtfulness as it attempts to tackle complex issues. You will walk away with the impression that the host’s little-corner-of-Christendom is the only one committed to truth. A telling example of the echo chamber that results from a podcast like this is the comment section on the CTM YouTube page.

    Feb 11 Episode
I agree with everything you said but you missed one BIG thing. When the husband was primarily at fault, it’s horrendous for elders to try to force a wife to reconcile. Because THEY met with the husband and he was able to sound repentant to them, how arrogant for them to demand she take him back. They should be able to trust that she can tell better than they if there’s still something deeply wrong with his heart. THAT’S what they did wrong and that’s why Biblical counseling is getting a bad rap. If they did their job well, she would be thrilled for reconciliation and wouldn’t have to be threatened with discipline. She was vindicated in this situation, but what about all the other women and children who suffer continuing abuse because of arrogant Biblical counselors who are snowed by abusers and support them. It doesn’t matter that they “didn’t have all the facts,” the wife’s intuition was all the facts they needed because she knows the man far better. Arrogant, arrogant, arrogant.

    Discerning christian analysis
John is a very thoughtful yet gracious christian. His arguments are so good you are left with little inquiries after. He would make a great lawyer. Thanks John.
  • Berean3
Thoughtful and provocative at a pivotal time.
I really appreciate some of the insights Jon offers during his podcasts. It’s definitely opened my eyes to some of the trends occurring in the modern Church. At some points Jon is reminiscent of J. Gresham Machen( particularly, Machen’s book “ Christianity and Liberalism “).
