    Enjoying this podcast immensely
I’m so glad I found Russian for Cats. I majored in Russian but have forgotten most of it. In order to relearn during my busy schedule I thought I had to make a choice between listening to a dry language podcast or… not relearning. Russian for Cats is a DELIGHTFUL listen and I now associate Russian with my favorite characters Nadia and Brian rather than fear of making linguistic mistakes. A perfect podcast for anyone starting out learning Russian, anyone returning to the language, or anyone who just likes cats and a good chuckle. Thank you Pam

Russian for Cats - No spoilers!
This is my favorite podcast I’ve found in a while! It tells the story of a Russian Blue cat named Nadia (played by Olga Kochetkova) who has escaped from a torturous lab where agonizing experiments have given her the ability to talk. Shortly after her breakout, she meets Brian (played by Kyle Teichmann) the human who albeit has his own troubles becomes Nadia’s refuge. Everything about this podcast is great. From the plot to voice actors and above all its subtle way of teaching you, Russian. It’s so easy to miss because you’re so captivated with the story but while Nadia slips in some Russian and teaches Brian she’s actually teaching you too. Each episode is followed up with a recap of the vocabulary learned with a native expert and I swear I’m a few episodes away from dreaming in Russian. Narrator, Alexander Doddy, has some amazing company such as Elena Vakhtina and Heather Henning as well as some off-script help from consultant Jeff Callahan. So far the show has 18 episodes all about 17 minutes long and irresistible to binging. The podcast started up in 2019 and released the series finale just a few weeks ago. Music is very on theme and only present at the beginning of the show. Quite a few bad words so watch out for small ears while listening. Slight trigger for injury to animals. This well written tale takes the listener on a journey with a cat named Nadia. The people and places are so well described that the listener is transported to places as seen and experienced by Nadia.

    Run run run little Nadia
Nadia, a Russian Blue cat, is on the run from the secret lab that so painfully enhanced her intelligence so she could talk. Brian, her knight in tuna can armor, is helping her escape. But can the two of them outwit the competing agencies seeking to use the dainty, gray feline as an espionage weapon? Humor meets suspense in this clever cat escapade. I adored the two main characters, Nadia and Brian. Clever Nadia has huge catitude and Brian is a bit bumbling but brave especially when opposable thumbs are needed. And I learned some Russian words and phrases during their adventures. Be sure and listen to the end of each session for a review of Russian vocabulary. The discussion of pronouns and tenses is useful. But the commentary is often amusing. For example, the Russian language has a male and female version for most nouns. Therefore when an observer yells “Look there’s a cat,” she must guess as to whether the cat is male or female to choose the probable gender ending for the word cat. Oh let’s not forget the fun of learning how to call somebody an idiot in Russian. My only complaint is that the author Pam Cameron is toying with the readers by only posting the first three episode. 😀🐱

This podcast is really awesome. It’s a fiction radio drama style podcast that also teaches you Russian words! How cool is that?! Definitely worth a listen!
