Howie in the 505A lifeline on a burning planetIn an era of complacent ignorance, Crazy Town provides me with a lifeline to not only keep my head up, but even get into some good trouble. Delightfully witty, shamelessly self-critical and occasionally mind-bending, the hosts choose one topic each episode and begin peeling the layers off tired arguments, exposing some of the most admired thinkers and foundational societal beliefs for the false prophets they truly are. Keep it up y’all, I’m telling everyone I know to listen in.

-onComic relief about the end of the world as we know it.I do recommend this podcast to everyone concerned about the future. They question the absurd world we live in—CrazyTown—which is the only sane thing to do. Keep it up, and do go beyond critique to building the foundations for a new world view —forafuture.com

WillPowers13Loving the theme of the new season!I really enjoyed the first episode about industrialism. Since much of it was about industrial agriculture, it would’ve been nice to hear more about local escape routes in terms of creating food sovereignty and Regional Foodshed Resiliency Plans. I recently listened to Earth Talk: Agroecology: Who will feed us in a planet in crisis with Miguel A. Altieri, and as he mentions towards the end, the United States needs a social movement towards Agroecology. Granted, that’s hard to do in our Crazy Town culture, but it’s possible to some degree within local communities. Also, in terms of agriculture, it would be interesting to hear Jason’s take on Permaculture at some point. Lastly, “the bar of Industrialism” was a great concept and discussion. Addicts benefit from community support, and I hope that community-based local escape routes and initiatives are discussed this season. In particular, it would be great to hear the three of you talk about the Transition Town movement. Jason and Asher urged listeners to stay in the game and not drop out of society, so maybe you won’t end up talking about Ecovillages this season, yet there are many Cohousing communities that aren’t insular or far removed from society. This continues to be the best podcast out there by the way!

Sunroom DeskSo glad I started! These three hosts make it seem easy to describe the insanity of the anthropocene in humorous, yet compelling and serious conversations that tackle environmental, social, ethical, economic, and political problems (to name a few) we are facing. I sometimes listen to 2-3 at a time (thanks for the many seasons and episodes!). Edifying and entertaining.

burnbizzleGreat podcast, keep it upMy wife and I love your podcast! You guys are right on with respect to the rood cause of the issues we are causing in our relationship with the planet and how our society and culture has created this human “super organism” that is out of control. You’re chemistry is excellent and makes your podcast fun and easy to listen to. Keep up the good work!

Lonely Linn County LeftistProps from a fan in AlbanyBefore I even started listening to you guys, the episode titles alone made me pretty sure I would enjoy the show. This was confirmed to be true very quickly, although as a lifelong mid valley resident, I have to say every little Corvallis reference you throw in makes it all that much better for me. Not that it should matter where one lives course, but it’s comforting to know that there’s still people in the area I haven’t personally met who aren’t blind to the reality around us. If I ever happen across any of you at American Dream or some such I would love to buy you a beer.

JornjamsGreat New SeasonI’ve always liked the show but I am really enjoying the “Phase Prophets” episodes

smalldragonsWorth a listenRob, Jason, and Asher are in top form in Season 5 of Crazy Town. Any podcast referring to a pseudo intellectual as an anti-vampire deserves a listen.
-
energyskepticThe best of my 43 podcast subscriptionsAs funny as many comedy podcasts, and far more interesting and realistic than any other podcast on energy and overshoot, with fantastic guests like Mary roach, my favorite science writer, Noam Chomsky, and more. Plus wide ranging topics such as psychedelics, reforming capitalism, population, the dark side of positive thinking, racism, patriarchy, climate change, water, agriculture, limits to growth, and so much more. Is there any podcast this intelligent or wide ranging or with as amusing hosts?
-
BdixzdleBest climate podcastThis podcast provides extremely well researched information about our world and climate change that points out the comical (albeit very depressing) truth about the crazy world we live in.
-
MJMJMJMJM12345Re: new narrativeI would like to refer you to Braiding Sweetgrass and the Indigenous narrative of reciprocity, relationships and giving back. If there is one narrative that is the opposite of neoliberalism it is that.
-
danogenesDespair can be funnyWith crazy town I feel less alone in watching the collapse rumble around me. These guys look at the roots of our integrated systems of energy politics economics ecology and denial in ways that are profound but bouncing on their snark and smart conversations. One of the only podcasts for which I recommend you go back a few years in their episodes to see how the ongoing story enmerges
-
PLMJ62Reality served with a side of humorI enjoy the fact that through a healthy injection of scatalogical humor and unrelated pop culture references, Rob, Asher, and Jason make the myriad existential crises we face entertaining. Keep up the good work.

dce44Grew on me, excellent podcastI like the information, and the analysis — and they've gotten better over time (their old intro and out-tro recordings were a little cheesy, though I really miss the bizarre photo of the house damaged by a storm that's missing half of the *first* story with the *second* story intact, with the byline of "I don't know . . . something just feels really off"). The latest bonus episode with Tom Murphy is especially good, with excellent advice starting at 44:00 into the show on "what do you *do* with this information?"—I would love to hear *much* more about that!). I really appreciate the [gallows] humor; how else can you take in such an hugely distressing situation? Only criticism is that it's three white guys — let's hear from other voices, too . . . but keep up the excellent, excellent work!

Carla in NCThis is my family's favorite podcastThanks to Rob, Asher and Jason for putting together thoughtful, easy-to-relate to content about the looming existential threat that almost everyone manages to compeltely ignore. We (two adults, and kids 13, 6 nd 6) all enjoy the episodes--amazing! The synthesis across disciplines is welcome, as is their commitment to pointing out the craziness of growth as our society's most hallowed paradigm. We look forward to each episode, and always learn something new. Thank you so much for diving deep, and for being so down-to-earth. This podcasts helps to anchor our activism.
-
Jared del BarcoNo Easy FeatIt’s not easy to talk about climate change in a way that’s entertaining without diminishing the seriousness of the subject. These guys don’t sugar-coat the situation we’re facing, but somehow this podcast leaves you feeling well-informed and resolute instead of doomed and hopeless.
-
susanimalllA binge-worthy podcast! The only things keeping me going these days are new episodes of Crazy Town and The Handmaid’s Tale. Both offer a sobering view of our future if we don’t collectively get our act together... and some good old fashioned entertainment. I’m grateful for the hosts’ tell-it-like-it-is style (with a healthy dose of sarcasm, of course) and analysis of current events that, together, make so much sense of the world and how we got here. It is my ultimate hope that the common sense, humanity-unifying ideas from Crazy Town will transcend identity politics and infiltrate mainstream consciousness, allowing folks from all sides of the political spectrum to begin to recognize the distractions and divisive forces that are continuing to push society far beyond ecological limits.
-
donnabee44Identity politicsIn the recent episode they were critical of leftist elites paying too much attention to identity politics, which they do not define, rather than issues that affect more people. BUT, if they are talking about race and ethnicity, the US census identifies only 60 percent of the population identifying as no Hispanic whites. So “identity politics” addresses the concerns of a lot of people. Keeping in mind that this group is not monolithic. And, of course, I would like to see more attention paid to class issues.

landotter9Not Funny, All Over the PlaceEach time I try to listen to this, I find myself bored and slightly annoyed by 3 white men who love the sound of their own banter, yet again. As a result I can’t sink into the content.

RN from NHArrogant and one sidedI listened to your podcasts for a month trying to discover why you are supported by the Post Carbon Institute. I stopped after I found your attitudes to be close to bullying and dismissive. I am working with my town to address climate change and your podcast does not advance the work. Then, I got an email from Post Carbon Institute promoting your podcast so I listened to the one on Conspiracy. You need to look at the definition of conspiracy as you barely talked about the real conspiracies out there that lead people down the rabbit hole of false theories. Also, you should look into the work of Braver Angels who strive to understand in a loving way why people believe in different views and how to narrow the divide in our country. You are part of the problem, not a solution. I will not listen again.

blackpoff05Listen, Laugh and LearnGreat podcast! I've listened eagerly to nearly every episode. I learned a ton from the overview of energy literacy in Season One. Asher, Jason and Rob artfully blend humor and serious discussion of the most pressing challenges we face as a species. For someone who easily gets overwhelmed by reading/listening to content about the climate crisis, Crazy Town hits the spot.
-
Gunstreetgirl666Please interview Guy McPhersonLove your show. He’s the only honest one and we need to talk about earth in hospice. It’s not so crazy, crazytown 🌈🌎🕳
-
materthetomaterWhat needs to be saidThank you for this podcast! It is the most accessible (plus funny) forum to bring the hard reality into the conversations on our compounding planetary crises.
-
NineblueoneThis one. Listen to this one. This is just a fantastic, well-produced podcast that allows you to laugh off the darkest, most difficult subjects imaginable … turns out that at least three of the horsemen are also stand up comics. Just subscribe and put this in your weekly mix. You’ll end up smarter, better prepared and, surprisingly, more sane. You’ll see!
-
ILuvAvocadosGreat PodcastI love the way Asher, Jason, and Rob talk about the real problems in the world and how people will consistently deny the effects and undeniable result of our society. We need more of this!!
-
pageandmarginsGreat walk between delusion and denialI have enjoyed this podcast from its first year—the hosts are knowledgeable and possess a great dynamic. Most importantly they help identify the various “delusions and denials” that surround most discussions of resource constraints and modern society’s energy predicament; moreover they do this ample sympathy and no judgmental finger wagging.
-
Nick Bush TexGreat ideas to make our world betterAn entertaining look at our world and how to make it better. Great in depth ideas and thinking that helped me see the world in a smarter way. It helps me appreciate what I have and how to live my life better.
-
ChakahartaHelp me feel a little saner in this world...Smart, topical discussion informed with information about staying sane in our current era. Science, politics, psychology, business, government — and a healthy amount of irreverent humor throughout. Most importantly: the hosts seem to really know their stuff from working in the trenches on these issues for years.
-
bennirubberCatharticRefreshing to hear honest articulation and humility on our species cultural & planetary crisis.
-
thundarrrzillaFavorite podcast!I have learned so much while simultaneously laughing and crying. So often I feel like I am the one who is crazy but these three confirm I'm not the crazy one, it's everyone else and their fossil fuel guzzling, climate change denying behaviors that are crazy.
-
Jeff1534Incredible.These are the environmental conversations we need to be having. A pure dose of reality.
-
ErinJBClarityI‘ve decided to learn more about the drastic changes people and other species are facing. I’ve listened to a couple episodes and feel more informed and encouraged to change.
-
Irritating 1000Keep it up!!!!Smart, sarcastic, funny. Want to laugh and cry at the same time. Have learned a lot and, even better, have been moved to get off my butt and get actively involved.
-
The Dragons be HereCrazy Town RuminationsIf you can imagine an improvizational skit based upon regenerative climate options subject prompts, you will grok the essential beauty of the Crazy Town experience. These 3 are constantly igniting the tinder of engaging upstream climate change, while reminding us that just because you can do something, does mean you actually should. What a hoot this turns out to be! If you're down and troubled, this just might improve your perspective! Onward...
-
appleknocketEntertaining AND thought provokingI look forward to each new podcast. Thanks. Nick
-
Crystal ArnoldInsightful and poignantThank you for sharing your wisdom and insights with humor.
-
joannebfA reality checkThese guys give us climate change activists a look at the state of affairs. With enough humor to make it feel like we are all in on the joke.
-
noupheadSo appreciate this!!I SO appreciate this show. What a great education about energy and climate couched in great repartee and expletives. Thanks so much for creating this!
-
bhdyysiI found my people!Smart, and funny, and no longer alone.
-
BigdttmeFinally an honest conversationI am loving this podcast my friends. The whole concept of trying to make the pie bigger is driving me nuts. There is a reason the standard pie is 12” and those people wanting a bigger one should try to bake one some day. #TheLawsOfPhysics
-
willydnplacetobeGreat stuff!!!You all speak to me. Exactly where I’m at. And you taught me some good stuff. I I love the science and numbers. More more more
-
A MerbackToo afraid to discuss in publicLeftists are right about the need to transition the energy system but right wingers are correct that it will completely destroy our way of life. Both are spot on, but no one wants to connect the two in public. Asher, Jason, and Rob discuss what everyone knows deep down but refuses to acknowledge, probably because it lands you in the crackpot category. These guys aren’t afraid of that label.
-
east tn farmerSurprisingly goodDoom and gloom with good humor. Is that right? A humorous look at peak resources? Nah, not sure how to describe this program. But I’ve enjoyed each episode and managed to come away a bit smarter.
-
HwangnothwongEncore!!!Punchy without being preachy, thought-provoking and relatable, with witty sprinkles of fun. I want some more Rob, Asher, and Jason!
-
Thomas CleverThey have a point...WE'RE LIVING IN CRAZY TOWNIn an era where so many of our politicians refuse to acknowledge human caused climate change, where a state like North Carolina passes a law that says that sea level rise projections can't be factored into development permits, and where our average consumptions continues to go up and up and up, where else coiuld we be living but CRAZY TOWN? This show is a thoughtful mix of facts and feelings with a healthy dose of humor.
-
DKPruitEdgy and InformativeGreat listen! I learned something new and had a few laughs. It's interesting how wonderful and stupid we humans can be.
