H.E. 88Best garden show for the backyard gardenerIt is so early to listen to this show since it is just two friends talking about their garden. They address a variety of issues. I learning something and I have been growing for years. It is my favorite backyard garden podcast.

IndyRacer123Appreciate it, but some ugh momentsHello! I am a new listener, so please take that into account. Occasionally during the episodes, I’ve listened to, I feel that the male host dismissive of the female host, and even mocks her. And one time, he was laughing about something that didn’t seem funny, and the audio was actually eclipsing her serious reflection on a question he asked. I need less of that in my life.🤣

marykkatherineMehThe female’s voice is too annoying for me to listen. Plus they actually don’t seem to know what they are talking about often…

Alleopathic plantsQuestion about Sunflowers being friend or foeHere's one of the not-so-great features of sunflowers. They are allelopathic, which means they exude chemicals that act as herbicides to the surrounding plants. All parts of the sunflower - seeds, hulls, leaves, flower petals, roots, root exudates - act this way, and can inhibit the growth of other species.

Mfh123mfhMy favorite gardening podcast!I’ve been listening to this pod cast for a long time and thought I would leave a review. Just love the banter between the hosts and their focused conversations. They are funny and helpful with their commentary and advice without being know-it-alls. :) Just the perfect tone like you are talking over your fence with your neighbor about gardening. I look forward to the new podcast every week and always learn something new.

Jupiter JudyGardening info?I don’t think so. It’s more political in my view. How about not judging all the practices we have and give me some positive information. I suggest you listen to Farmer Fred and possibly change up your format.

(fartsounds)Male podcaster continually interruptsGood info just super frustrating how the male podcaster is constantly interrupting his partner. We can’t even hear a complete thought from her due to his constant interruptions.

sajadetteCan’t Get Enough of Ben & BataviaI have been following this podcast for close to a year after finding their respective YouTube channels, and have been listening ever since. Thursday’s can’t come fast enough! I enjoy the content and almost lost my mind in excitement when one of my Instagram comments was read as question of the day regarding growing kolrhabi (I’m sure I spelled it wrong lol) in spring. I’ve learned so much from both host and I enjoy listening to the older episodes while outside in the garden. You guys make my commute to work enjoyable and goodness knows I need a good laugh in the mornings. Keep up the great work Ben, Batavia & Leonard!!

Kurt in NWCTGreat Growing knowledge, Great HostsBatavia and Ben share a passion for gardening that is real! I am lucky to garden in zones 5b (summer) and 8a (winter) and y’all have given me the final push to plant a fall garden in Dallas. The show is so much fun—it feels like you all are friends I could make at the farmers’ market! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with your audience!!

bvf75428Thanks for the humor!!Hey B and Ben!! Girl don’t be puttin’ up with any sass from that man🤣 This show is awesome as far as if you want tried opinions and research as well as a little bit of bantering humor between the hosts. Still trying to find time to post a question to ya’ll regarding your thoughts on growing in plastic tubs but I always get caught up in your podcasts and forget. Keep it up guys! B, I’m a stones throw to your west and a bit colder but I feel ya!!

happieoilerI always learn somethingFirst I want to say thank you for your podcast, you guys are awesome. Second, every single time I listen to you guys I smile, laugh and learn something. And third it was very exciting to hear my question on the 144 podcast. I did dig around after you both answered on Instagram and now I have a better understanding so I will dig a little bit more. So grateful for your experience and advice. Thanks 🙃

BRL254Informative and EntertainingI discovered Backyard Gardens earlier this year and at first began listening to specific topics connected to what I wanted to learn about. I soon discovered that I wanted to listen to Ben and Batavia as much as possible! Their dynamic together is funny, caring, and with a little bit of good natured sarcasm and debate. I binged every episode the last few months and am sad I have to wait for new content to come out at its normal rate. I love hearing about their garden journeys and learning how to take mine to the next level.

PennyLane132EntertainingI was going to give 4 stars but decided to up it to 5 because I’m a bit picky. This is a light hearted, informative podcast that I enjoy listening to on my commute as a first time gardener. You feel like you are listening in to a conversation with friends, which you basically are! That’s great BUT not always great for the listener, who can get confused when hosts reference a conversation that wasn’t recorded or cut each other off without explaining things for the audience. There are inside jokes/references that I get frustrated I don’t understand! But other than that, great podcast and good for beginners like me.

squirrelfriend7Great podcast with one issue.I really enjoy this podcast, it’s so clear that Ben and Batavia are true friends who genuinely love to spend time together talking about gardening. The banter is fun, and the topics are interesting and informative. However, my one frustration that sometimes makes me turn off the podcast is Ben’s constant interrupting. I’m sure it’s coming from a place of enthusiasm, but it’s very difficult to listen to and makes it difficult to follow the thread of conversation, and sometimes what Batavia was in the middle of saying never gets resolved. I found this particularly aggravating in the latest episode, when there was a guest on— it sounds like she has lots of great info, but it was hard to follow because she couldn’t talk for more than a few sentences without interruption. Again, I love the podcast, I just wish Ben would make a mental note when he wants to add something and then return to it rather than cutting off Batavia or guests.

purplethumbgardenerSo Entertaining and InformativeI discovered Ben and Batavia’s podcast accidentally and boy am I glad I did! 👩🏾🌾 Even though I have been gardening through trial and error since my daughter was 11 years old - she’s 32 now! - I truly love it and I am always looking for new tips and ideas to make my soil/dirt (lol!) better and my soil healthier. This podcast is engaging and I am learning something new every episode. Thanks for sharing your knowledge to all of us. And may I say they are quite hilarious as well!
