My First-Ever Review for Cartoon Logic

Wow! This is a great, informative podcast!
One of the best I've heard regardless of the subject matter. I'm a big fan of animation, specifically classic cartoons, and these guys KNOW what they are talking about. This podcast is loaded with history, info, and opinion. I just found this podcast a few days ago and have been listening to it constantly, but I'm also very bummed because the number of episodes released look to be few and far between these days (I'm sure they are both busy people). There's mention of a Patreon in some of their episodes, which I'd be all over, but they must have discontinued it.

    Far-Ranging Romp
Some BLISTERING takes here (“Ub Iwerks is the most overrated animator!”) but always leavened with a hard-earned PRACTICAL knowledge that’s often entirely absent in other discussions. Every episode is an amazing journey—the depth of knowledge on both animation history and technique is impressive, but even more valuable to me are the well-articulated and provocative opinions that had me re-examining many of my own long-held views. Whereas “The Animation Discourse” too often winds up either obsessing over minutiae or cheerleading the latest/“greatest”, Thad and Bob recenter the discussion on the essential question, “IS IT GOOD?” Or rather, “WHY is it good?” To do this, they may even look at some “bad” cartoons, but always for the purpose of extracting worthwhile lessons.

    Scintillating Discussions of Animation
Excellent podcast. The dynamic between the two hosts is solid and leaves you wanting more. Brutally honest criticism of the art of classic animation. Cannot recommend enough.

Taking the fun out of cartoons.
As a lover of all things “cartoon”, these guys really know the history of animation and can spout off the artists and producers quicker than a Wikipedia article... but that being said, they seem to forget that these are CARTOONS designed to give us a 7 minute happy escape into a slapstick world and not some geophysics college term paper. This podcast is sad and depressing. I had to give up after several episodes.

Deep deep deep fun dive into cartoon mechanics & history!
Detailed discussions of the largely unappreciated talent that went into the incredible era of classic cartoons. All of the episodes are insightful & entertaining but definitely check out the Harman-Ising focused episode 10. Good stuff!

    feel the classic animation love
Boy, do I love me anyone discussing old animation. And here they are! Thad and Bob know their stuff, and entertainingly dissect some old classics from the heyday of theatrical animated shorts. This podcast happily hits you as hard as that punch Popeye lands on that girder in A Balmy Swami. (After listening to episode 4, now I know why that punch always seemed so darn powerful.) Nice having these guys bring a great lost art back into the limelight.

This podcast is strong to the “finich”...
...because the hosts certainly know their stuff when it comes to one-eyed sailors, daffy ducks and constantly bickering cats and mice, as well as the people who created the cartoons that feature these ink-and-paint stars. Each episode is packed with information and insights into the Golden age of the Hollywood cartoon (and those that were actually made elsewhere, like the Fleischer/Famous Studios shorts). Highly Recommended for classic cartoon enthusiasts.

    Great stuff!
You want a master class in animation conducted by two of the absolute top experts in the field? You've got it. Thad and Bob know their stuff for sure, but their absolute love of the medium shines in this delightful podcast. A complete pleasure.

    Animation Experts
My friend Thad is a wealth of knowledge about cartoons, and he also works doing film restoration and preservation. His co-host provides a seasoned film-collector’s and animator’s perspective. What results is a thorough and entertaining show full of enthusiasm and information.

    Good classic cartoon podcast
Good classic animation podcast by knowledgeable classic cartoon historians. The first episode functions as a review of and special features for the second volume of the recent Warner Archives color Popeye releases.
