Sports #36Football #9

Josh Pate's College Football Show delivers college football the way you want it. Behind-the-scenes whispers and intel thanks to a network of team insiders. Game breakdowns and rapid reaction along with the occasional gambling and recruiting twist. No offseason, no low-hanging fruit, no hot take — just the information you need to know on a show built with YOU in mind.

    Great content but…
I’ve been giving 3-star reviews to all my favorite college football podcasts lately. The content is always excellent but the 3 minute ad reads for FanDuel is horrifically longwinded and irrelevant to those of us who aren’t degenerate gamblers.

….but tired of hearing about Ryan Day. I skip all podcasts that he is being interviewed. N E X T..

    Best CFB Show out there
This is the best college football show out there and it’s not even close.

    Typical Media Bias
Listened got a few months and couldn’t take it anymore. You can tell who gives him info and lets him come to practice by how he slobbers all over the same programs and coaches constantly. The know-all attitude and talking about his own rankings like they’re worth something in the sport gets so old.

Listening from Ames iowa, mailbag question. Would a 9-3 year be disappointing for Iowa State??

    Entertaining and Informative
Josh Pate has positioned himself as the king of the college football nerds, and I proudly count myself among his football-nerd subjects. This is by far the best national college football podcast, which is amazing given the fact Josh doesn't even have a co-host to help move the show along. I used to watch parts of the show on YouTube, but now I listen to the whole show in pod form.

    Mailbag!!!
Could we see a day where unequal revenue sharing is used to encourage programs to leave a conference rather than stay? Until now the idea of unequal revenue sharing has been used to keep Texas and Oklahoma in the big 12 and has been brought up as a way to keep Clemson and the noles in the acc. However, I wonder if the big 10 or sec could use unequal revenue sharing to encourage unwanted programs to join other conferences. Thank you, from Steven in Savannah

Good show if you want talk about the top 12
My interest in the show is waning. The takes are well thought out, and the show is great if you are only interested in the top teams in the SEC, Big 10, Clemson and FSU. Perhaps that’s where the ratings are. I have no interest in the so called playoff, and the show is centered on the teams that might qualify. I’ll check in as the season gets closer to see if anything has changed.

    Good Show with Big Flaw
If he didn’t beg for likes, subscribers, and 5 star reviews after ever segment I might rate it higher.

    Love this dude
This guy loves the game. Straight up. He’s the best I know of who manages to keep bias out of it (except maybe Iowa state lol) but all jokes aside, seriously a great show for any college football lover, Josh is a great host

Fantastic show, need more Nebraska respects
JP, I only wish you loved Nebraska even half as much as you love USC or “The Game”. 💔 I understand we’ve moved to irrelevancy over the past 10 years (besides our fans and sellout streak) but there is still so much rich history with this program, including some outstanding rivalries that were killed by the evil that is conference realignment. But, I hope you can soon find out that Nebraska Vs Iowa has the hatred of border states that feels like it’s naturally been around for 200 years (I’m a Nebraska fan who lived in central Iowa). Also, Colorado at Nebraska will be a freaking electric game of games this year, there’s a lot of Nebraska fans who are really ticked at our old rival. Also I’m only 20 so I’m bloodthirsty for some good Nebraska football. GBR 🌽🌽🌽

    Bold Take
DJU has the best single season performance as a QB since Jameis’s Heisman in 2013 and leads FSU to the National Championship game against Oregon. Love the podcast!

I know I’m in the minority but please kick us out SEC I’d love to join the sunbelt and dominate it for at least a little while before somehow the curse causes the wheels to fall off (I mean we were finally on the right path and our coach died)

    Undefeated Potential with Expanded Conferences
One of my fav CFB podcasts! Disclaimer: I also submitted this question to the Cover 3 mailbag, but I really want Pate’s take too, because I think it’s fun to think about. Cheers! Mailbag question: With conference expansion and the elimination of divisions there is now potential for there to be three undefeated teams in the same conference heading into conference championship weekend. For example: with 16 teams in the SEC this year Texas, Alabama & Ole Miss don’t play each other in the regular season and could all go undefeated. Obviously the potential goes up as you expand past 16 teams. In such a scenario, how does conference championship participation get decided? Or playoff seeding? Wouldn’t we end up with another FSU-like outrage situation if an undefeated team doesn’t get to play for a first round bye? Would such an event be enough to slow or stop the hunger for future conference expansion? Thanks!

    Second to none podcast!
Josh Pate is the most unbiased voice you will find! I look forward to listening to every show! Go Pate State, Go Irish! ☘️ If Josh Pate had a discord community with a monthly subscription or something similar I would gladly sign up! Ps: thanks for always giving us a glimpse of what the college football structure may look like in the future! Josh is a voice of reason during these tumultuous times!

    Awful
Tried this podcast because I hear Josh’s name a lot. Couldn’t make it through one episode. Just terrible. There are people who are popular that make you scratch your head. This guy is one. There are are many, many better college football podcasts out there than this. Many

    Best college football podcast.
The best college football podcast, period! I have named myself a Pate State alumni. I bought the tee shirt. I have even gotten in to meteorology. Late kick acolyte.

    Great Points w/1 exception
Love the show however for once I have to as an Indiana native take exception to one thing you said. While your point about a random basketball game in January was spot on I have to say you chose a poor example. Even having been away from the state for years I can without a doubt assure you that any time Indiana and Purdue are playing each other there will be a huge viewing audience in the Hoosier state. That rivalry even followed me to Tucson AZ years back and I can’t imagine it’s changed much

    Losing steam
I’ve been a Pate State homer for several years and evangelized it to numerous friends. But since Saban’s retirement, the podcast has become difficult to wade through. Unless there’s an interview, nearly every B block (behind realignment and reform) is devoted to Bama. I don’t know Josh’s rooting allegiance, but I’ve become convinced he’s a Bama fan since January. It’s almost as if he’s trying to convince the CFB world about kaelin deboer and bama. Deboer could be great—but there’s nothing unique about what’s happened since his hiring. He’s doing the right thing, but nothing to gush over. This is no knock on Bama—they’re the fulcrum of college football for 15-20 years. But Pate devoted far less airtime to them when they were perennial #1 than he has since Saban’s retirement. Get back to what made this podcast great—an evenhanded approach to the entirety of cfb. My four-star rating is based solely on pre-retirement, when it was a five-star podcast. Since then, it’s been a one-star podcast.

    Go Bucks!!!
So first things first, I need to buy an airplane to drive all the way back from there and back home and back home and back to my house… but I can’t afford a car that flies in the air all the time, plus how can I drive a plane under water without having pizza! This is verbatim nonsense but it would be better to just get the money and get it done and get a new plane to go back home to my house instead of buying a new plane ticket and getting the plane ticket oil fried in a oven, but alas, seeing as though the airline industry has gone nuclear, I don’t think it would be worth the enough for me at all to get the flight to the airport and back there for a business trip. So I will just have to do with out the thing that I needed, and go earth eating.

    Homer
Definitely entertaining. He has some valuable analysis as well. Claiming that playing the games matter AND that Bama belongs in the playoffs over FSU is the pure essence of a Bama homer - not a college football fan (as the man professes to be).
