A grateful amateurFor the artistic philosophers, renegade and outcastsA thoughtful and curious approach to some the great existential questions of our day. In a sorta of Revisionist History/ Gladwellian investigative style, the host brings his own unique voice and relentless curiosity to ever episode. I especially love the episodes that look at art and counterculture, music and Punk as bridges into another way of viewing things. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

iluvnatureMore pleaseOne of my favorite podcasts. Fascinating, intriguing, thought provoking. So sad it seems to be over.
-
brieturdReally quite...ordinaryA journalist, sitting at the superficial journalist level, having 30-second sounds bites speak for the narrative he wants to squeeze out.
-
ItsModernArtA great way to spend your timeThis is a lovely, weird and wonderful podcast- I love every minute of it.
-
PlympatGreat research & insightThanks, Hari. Very well written, presented & produced. Entertaining, yet enlightening.

Ohio VickInto the Zone podcastCan’t wait for more podcasts in 2021. Stay well.

.YokNapAtaWpha.Stimulating, Surprising FunHari asks difficult questions and avoids easy answers. He interrogates what we think we know, the matters we take for granted. And he does all of this with entertaining sound design, a great soundtrack, and a surprisingly brisk pace. The best episodes are those where Hari digs into who he is and where he comes from along with his larger themes and questions.

GlarconI read Kunzru’s books and then I needed moreI forget how I came upon Red Pill, but it’s one of the best books I read all year. That led me to White Tears, which prompted so many questions that I started trying to figure out this author's deal. When I looked at his website and saw this podcast, I thought I’d give it a go. I’m already really into it, and if you like his books, you’ll get some fun extras that relate to the themes and subject matter he dabbles in. Good stuff.
-
jellyrhubarbMy new favorite podcastI listen to a lot of podcasts! This is one of the best I've encountered. It's content is unexpected and Kunzru is a smart, calm guide. I loved the Geoff Dyer interlude/road trip. More please!

Tatanka oyateKNever tried to become ordinary.
-
Not a SisterRecommended to friendsI loved this so much. I listened while ripping out 1209sq feet of carpet, and it was so interesting I was actually excited to spend more time working on that in order to listen more.
-
Sir_RealistSome OK episodesQuite a few boring. The excruciating detail detracts from the main theme. If an episode interests you, continue. Otherwise bail.
-
CaliGunnerGreat!Really like this podcast. Excellent ideas and approach.
-
MukkuroniEpisode #4Interesting podcast on theosophy, Krishnamurthy. Except for the “woo woo” music, Kunzru blends his family history, Indian history, theosophy and JK well. I’m surprised though that he didn’t investigate JK further. JK had houses all over the world, given to him by generous theosophists, even after he broke away. He set up the Krishnamurthy Foundation which does excellent work in education. There’s a Krishnamurthy school in Ojai as well.

nick from nepalWatch the anachronismsI came here from The Last Archive and was impressed (that was the Stonehenge episode). I have one point of order, though: there was a nice dig at Nigel Farage at the end, BUT: if you’re going to be talking about who lived in what’s now Britain 6000 years ago, you ought to also do the same for Asia Minor. And there were zero Turks there then. Perhaps zero “Turks” anywhere that long ago, just like zero Angles or Saxons. But it doesn’t take ancient DNA to know that Turks left the western end of Mongolia about 1400 years ago. So let’s be consistent, OK? Even though it ruins the quip against Farage. Migration has been a human trait everywhere.

RzodTrippy and InformativeGreat host, interesting subjects, but don’t slag off California b/c you decided to eat at Cafe Gratitude (Ep 4). Despite your “Brooklyn" superiority I still like the topics and production. Nicely done.

fussnikjust like lsd. This is what I wanted from drugs--unbelievable stuff, never before thought of. fascinating people. Do you know what Elon put into his red sportscar before shooting it to Mars? This is what I've been longing for, to be pushed into the zone of all I didn't know, and didn't kkow that I didn't. Is this philosophy? entertainment?

Oakland now BerkeleyCaptures a sense of the times perfectlyThis podcast is just what we need during these liminal times. It helps exercise our minds so we are not stuck with thinking of the world in extremes: good and evil; enjoyable and unenjoyable, etc. Very helpful to listen to this during shelter in place.
-
Couldn’t get enoughWitty and thoughtfulThis show is great! It’s a beautiful example of giving flesh and interest to philosophical issues. Hari is able to explore deep issues of identity, epistemology, and ethics without any stodginess. Unlike anything else out there right now.

shannpoFor POC obsessed w subculturesBeen trying to articulate exactly what makes this podcast so special to me, personally and I think it’s that, as an Asian American woman w a longstanding fascination w subcultures, cults, and conspiracy theories, it’s so refreshing to hear these topics explored by someone whose experiences more closely mirror mine. It’s both validating and eye-opening to get a non-Euro or US-centric POV on things like country music and theosophy. Kind of like Lovecraft Country...if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll love this podcast. Also reminds me of a smarter, more incisive and reflective version of the web series (?) All Gas No Brakes. The research is so thorough—the product of someone who gets truly obsessed and immersed in a subject—but not to the point of it being academic or cold. The storytelling is grounded while being far-reaching and expansive—a hard thing to accomplish! One of my absolute favorite podcasts; binged the entirety of it in a weekend.
-
Beccaaz746RacismFirst episode is about how he wasn’t “allowed” to go to sports games bc he was brown. If you want to hear about this, you’ll love this podcast.
-
Sarahkate622Beautiful, thought provoking and deeply entertainingThis whole season is so great. If you like other shows on Pushkin then you’ll like this one. It’s smart and bingeworthy. The end of the season is beautiful.
-
lindheimerGreat showIntresting, thoughtful, well written, nuanced and quite funny!
-
cmyk3000Great Podcast!Hari Kunzru is a fantastic host. His pieces are fascinating and mysterious, well-researched, and thought provoking. I was not familiar with his written works prior to hearing this podcast, so those have gone on my booklist. I can only imagine his writing style and subject matters will be just as enjoyable as this podcast has been.
-
TransWriter90MasterpieceIf you want to hear someone change your mind about things with hard-earned facts, data, and investigative research, this is the podcast for you. WOW.
-
SU&UMind-expandingA gem of a podcast.
-
blinkiblorp9000As good as his writingThe piece on Madame Blavatsky and India is particularly well crafted, but all of these are incredible. Kunzru’s language, whether written or spoken, is precise in a way that lets you see exactly how messy the world is.
-
EricRWolffThought for FoodA journey into questions with someone who ponders really interesting questions. Life is questions. Answers kill.

Kampala1I really enjoy itBeen around the podcast block to the point that things are starting to repeat, not with this podcast. It’s refreshing and delivers information you didn’t know you craved. It’s nuanced, and has all these historical points that are interconnecting to reveal how today’s culture developed. I need more
-

BobbbtLOVE THIS!A lot of work went into this...smart, informative, engaging, and addictive.
-
PlingksterIntriguing narratives wrapped around arcane historiesHow cool to encounter Theodore Adorno and Krishnamurti in a span of two podcasts. Marvelous storytelling rooted in the lives of unusual characters of the 20th century. Looking forward to where Kunzru’s mind will lead next!
-
CoolhandalexYes!Love how this podcast is basically the exploration of different totally nerdy obsessions Kunzru has.
-
Curious LoLeague of its ownThis is so good it’s ridiculous...more please
-
Farahan SaroukHookedWell — I’m hooked! Such a wonderfully diverse and interesting run of episodes so far. Subscribed.
-
ZZLDKMakes you think but fun to listenExcellent podcast, wishing for a new episode every day. BUT (re: the dialectic episode) please, please don’t ever subject us to so much of -his- voice, ever again. He doesn’t deserve to be part of an intelligent podcast like this one.
-
aliris19So Interesting!Theosophy, India, Essex, Stonehenge - such a great, broad weave that beats the warp out of the theory we’re all cut from different cloth.
-
Professor VornoffAlmost ThereLove the storytelling and delivery, but distracted by the background music. Episode 4 in particular had such an obnoxious metronomic beat, I kept fast-forwarding past it until I finally gave up. I may try a different episode in the future.
-
HandyhandFun new podcastThe "Druid Like Me" episode was a sample in my Last Archive subscription, and I found it very compelling. Great story, and I learned several things that surprised me, always a good combination.
-
TessB1984The Journey MAGA ConnectionThe new episode is wild! I love this.
-
sarah13bkSo goodSounds like nothing else out there.
-
MarktbflSo GoodDespite being annoyed that the sample podcast showed up in My Revisionist History feed unbidden I gave it a try and then binged all of the remaining episodes.
-
