Hank the Cowdog (Matthew McConaughey), the self-declared “Head of Ranch Security,” finds himself smack dab in the middle of a host of tangled mysteries and capers that span the universe of the Texas Panhandle cattle ranch Hank calls home.     We absolutely LOVE this podcast. Initially it was hard to listen to Hank as we were used to the original audio book recordings, but we have grown to love this so much! All the characters were cast so well, and the added audio and musical effects really made the story come alive! Please make more!!!!

    Full disclosure - I was raised on Hank the Cowdog. I fell asleep to sound of those audiobooks for years, and I still pull them out frequently. This rendition is so faithful and delightful. Every actor lends a delightful new note to their character and the script is pure, adventurous Hank fun. Matthew McConaughey has an unspeakably funny take on Hank. I especially loved Cynthia Erivo’s performance - and the late, great Leslie Jordan warms my heart with every line. 6/5. On a bonus note - I’ve never seen an HEB in person, let alone stepped foot in one, but I do sing the jingle pretty regularly now.

    We have listened to Hank the Cow Dog maybe 10 times! It’s remained a perennial favourite for our family. The H-E-B jiggle even inspired our 7 year old to go on a major grocery shop whilst vacationing in Texas. 🤣

    I grew up in Perryton, TX and my parents rented a house off of John and that’s when we discovered the Hank the Cowdog books back in the 80’s! Anyway I couldn’t have picked a better voice to do hank than Mr. Texas himself Matthew!! Thanks for bringing back my childhood memories! Love love love!!

    As I am righting this, I’m going to bed and this always helps me sleep. I’m 11 years old, and I don’t like very many kids podcasts, but this is better than any podcast I’ve listened to. And I BEG you to make more. Great podcast, but not very many episodes.
