    Too big for his britches
I used to LOVE this podcast. The perfect balance of intellectual banter and comic book lore. With that said KNOW this going into this particular podcast. It’s one part x-men genius and one part self indulgent fan boy. Then something changed. The vibe changed. I used to write in and get my letters read EVERY week. There was honesty and connection. I felt like I knew the host. Great banter and dialogue back and forth. Not anymore.

    Well-researched
So well-researched, and such wonderful discussions. Just have your finger near the volume button while listening at all times because the host might get very excited and may (without warning) literally scream directly into his microphone (sometimes over the guest) and if you have AirPods in, it may be more decibels than the ears can take. (The excitement is otherwise great and completely understandable. It’s just not good on the ears when it gets amplified by the microphone and happens so unexpectedly.)

Great podcast!!!! Got me back into the X-Men
Love every single episode!!!!!! This podcast reignited my love for the X-Men and comics in general!!!!

    One of the best
podcasts, if not the best podcast, on Marvel. If nothing else listen to #3 on Emma, my very favorite mutant, Frost. He gets her, and I don't write that sentence ever. The Host knows his stuff and is a delight to listen to. What more could you ask for?

    The DRAMA HONEY!
Amazing informative queer X-men podcast! Everything I never knew I needed. One minor gripe, please let your guests get their thoughts out. Though I love your opinions! Especially love that you feature goes of same(or close) ethnicity as the subject POC character. Incredibly thoughtful. Keep it up :-)

    Please stop interjecting
I enjoy this show but for the love of Kate please stop talking over your guests and trying to finish their sentences, Connor. The whole point of having guests is to hear their views!

Overhyped when there are tons of better podcasts
Talking over others (even industry guests) is weird and egotistical. Their knowledge of X-Men is even worse than ignorant - it’s very biased and tribalistic and if you’re a newer reader you will be told misinformation and look foolish if you tout what this podcast spews. Overall it’s just a whole unprofessional operation that’s embarrassing to hear when you can find much better discussion, insight, and most importantly - knowledge about lore - in dozens and dozens of other X-Men podcasts.

    Mutant Problems/ Bi Problems
say what you will about the Mutant Metaphor, i love that this is a show that openly addresses the queerness that has always been (sub) textual… and in true bi fashion, i can’t decide if i love it or the “Don’t worry about it,” asides more.

    It belongs in a museum!
Great show. Entertaining and educational. Combines discussion of older and newer comics. Provides insights into the characters that enhance my reading and enjoyment. In terms of the newer comics, though, I wish there was a disclaimer if an episode will discuss comics released in the past 12 months. Marvel Unlimited provides an affordable way to read multiple comics, but new releases tend to be delayed a few months. I sometimes start listening to new Cerebro episodes on a character who hasn’t appeared in years but have to stop because of preamble discussion on unrelated recent comics. It’s great to have a community that keeps up with the latest mutant events and encourages everyone to support creators by buying and preordering the latest comics in real time. Adding a sentence to each episode description indicating the date of the latest episode discussed would be a great help to folks who haven’t kept up, though.

    I love this
This show is so great and honestly I would love to be on it while I have no history in the comics industry I’m just a huge fan of the x men and have a huge vault of knowledge like you do

    Just found this?!?!
I just found this podcast and am loving it! The breakdown of each character is awesome, I’ve only listened to the first three, now I’m skipping to the Goblin Queen since the new Xmen97 episode 3 just came out. I’ve only ever read a handful of the Giant Sized books so being able to get in detail commentary of other characters is awesome. Thank you!

    True Gem
This podcast is magnificent! Stumbled on it and was immediately thrust back into my 90s super hero awakening. My first intro to X-Men was the 90s show and upon listening to Connor and friends this humble flatscan wanted to Kitty Pryde into my younger self and grab every X-Men comic I could. Thank you Connor!

    Know it all?
I found it shocking how he talks over his guests and acts like he knows more than them. He even did it to Hickman. It would be good if he had a little more humility.
  • JustSparrow
    Just listen to this show
30 minutes into the Hickman episode, just one of the most enjoyable and fascinating listens. This podcast rules.

    A renaissance education
I cannot believe how much I have learned about foundational Israeli politics, Vertigo, Children of the Corn, the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, the Midwich Cuckoos, the Stepford Wives, grind-house and exploitation films, the history of witches, transhumanism, song lines and dream time, the Argonitica, radical feminism, autism, the Crusades, BDSM, the trans experience, Yiddish, Romani society, Native American and Japanese semiotics, Vietnamese mass exodus, the Hindu Kush, TERFs, incels, social invisibility and erasure, mental illness, pterosaurs, Kate Bush, the Enigma of Amigaura Fault, the Comics Code, skin and hair color/texture, disco, and Paul Lynde. Also learned some X-men stuff.

    Simply incredible.
I’ve listened to probably over 300 hours of this podcast. I’ve learned so much about the X-Men and unexpectedly so much about myself. It’s truly special and unique what Connor and his guests have done with this podcast. 💚
  • Im a hero to these kids Taylor
    Love the vibe
I never know who the episode is about bc I’ve never heard most of their civilian names and it makes me unsure if I want to listen

Why have guests if you’re just going to interrupt them?
I enjoy the podcast but can you let your guests speak without cutting them off, Connor?
  • Shands M
    Cerebro is GREAT
Connor and all of his guests do an amazing job of making the X characters easier to understand. I have read so much bc of this show. As a flatscan, I can say it has renewed my love for all things X.
  • showfan888
    Host is knowledgeable
It’s great to have a podcast that’s so well versed in the material…But why have guests if you don’t let them speak? Seems like the host just wants to gas on and reduce the guests to agreeing. Maybe there should be just a regular sidekick to do that

Reminds me of great comics, saves me from reading terrible ones
I’ve read X-Men comics since I was a kid, but I managed to skip most of the bad ones. Connor reads them all, losing valuable time and brain cells on awful stories just so I “don’t worry about it.” Thank you, Connor, for your sacrifice! (In all seriousness, this podcast is a lot of fun, and has given this flatscan a new perspective on stories, characters, and fandom. May it run for many more Zaladanes!)

    It gives
It gives, and that’s all I really have to say. Listen and find out.
  • Andheehee
Great in depth explanations for your local straight dude
As someone who is a fan of comics but had limited knowledge on the individual X-Men, this is a great and informative podcast! Connor really gets down and dirty talking about their histories but does skip the unnecessary and objectively bad parts of them. It’s also super interesting to see the gay nuance of the mutants throughout their history. Even if there’s some headcanon in there it’s always entertaining. Great stuff entertainment and information-wise!

    Got me in to X-men
After seeing a hilarious video I found my way to this amazing podcast and then back into comics. I’ve completely caught up on the krakoa era and am now diving into storylines past. This podcast is so insightful and interesting it really helps you see the tangled world of the x-men as a beautiful tapestry ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Exactly what I wanted it to be
I have always like the X-Men and they have always been my team, but I didn’t read the comics as a kid, and kind of haphazardly would stumble through Wikipedia entries and character files to just learn about different characters that interested me. Then this podcast comes along and presents that information in a more thorough, personalized, and intelligent manner, and I was hooked. Here’s to a thousand more episodes. I love every minute of Cerebro, and have even begun picking up the Hickman era to read! Somehow Conner’s love for Captain Britain got me to pick up a thousand page brick of a book, and I am having a blast.

    Activism
This podcast attempts to shove ideology at you it comes off very pretentious.

Sorta crappy. Politics in every episode host thinks he’s alwawys right and really not a fun podcast

Hey there new listener here really enjoying it however I wish you would let Zeb talk! I was so excited for this interview but was put off by the constant taking over him. Hope you don’t mind the constructive criticism excited for the next one!

    Perfect podcast
Not only do you get an amazing, in-depth look at a single character every episode, but you also get the joy of repeat listens because these episodes are just that good. Follow the podcast on twitter. Join the discord. It’s really a wonderful community of X-men nerds that love these characters.

    Be Nicer to Guests
This podcast has such potential… but Connor talks over the guests and verbally barrages them if their opinion differs from his.
  • CMYK_Guy
    Most comprehensive X-Men podcast ever
Connor really knows the X-Men. While I love this podcast, I often feel like I’m not smart enough to listen to it.

    What a gift!
This podcast is such an amazing gift for any X-Men fan, and an incredible, rich, meandering deep dive love letter. Thank you Connor, for bringing this to the world!

Lots of X-love for this gem of a show
I love love LOVE how deep into the lore of the X-characters every episode goes. Do to my pesky neurologist divergent brain I go through long periods of time where I can’t really read so I miss large chunks of my favorite characters lives but now that I have Cerebro I can easily fill in all the gaps. The only thing negative I have to say about this show is how allover the place the audio levels are. The quiets and louds can be pretty unbearable at times.
  • Trav H24
    great show
Great deep dive into X-history. Always entertaining and I always learn something. Reminds you how weird, interesting and thoroughly F’d up X-history is. does lose a star, for not using the tag line ‘the show where a superior homo talks about homo superior’
  • DanderB
    Best Podcast
I never knew so many people were as interested in X-Men lore as I have been my whole life. Always fun to listen. One tiny gripe…. The audio levels fluctuate wildly. I know Conner edits these himself and I can overlook it. Often when driving I will find I can’t hear what someone said, so I will turn the volume up only for seconds later to have it sound like someone is screaming into the mic. Hopefully this can be fixed with maybe a better microphone or more awareness in speech patterns. Otherwise, amazing show. Love it. Five stars forever.
  • MarcusSparchs
Amazing for old fans and new. Funny and informative!
I’m a bit of a lapsed fan but the Krakoa era has really drawn me in. So I really needed a refresher on who these x people are and Connor and company REALLY make it easy to understand both the history of the characters and the context under which they were created (and the subtext that isn’t on the page but was communicated between writers and fans.) Each episode features a complete history for a character plus a chat with a creator or comics adjacent person who talks with Connor about what makes that week’s character great (or in some cases what makes them so bad that they’re good.). There’s also plenty of wit and satire plus some solid speculation on where the franchise can go from here. There’s also plenty of breakdowns and critiques of where the franchise went wrong and clever thoughts on how to repair bad moments in the back catalogue. Anyone looking for a smart, funny, LGBTQ+ friendly podcast about Marvel’s merry mutants need look no further!

Hey So Like… Listen to This Podcast.
I’ve been a CEREBRO listener since episode 1 and now, as of episode 57, I have officially had my first podcast-induced cry, gained about 30 new favorite Marvel characters, and come to terms with my own bisexuality. If that’s not an endorsement, I’m not sure what is. So yeah, CEREBRO is your one-stop-shop for laughs, gaffs, funny voices, informed insight, and queer awakenings. Join the House of Zaladane!!!

    The Best X-Pod
Connor and guests provide their insights into specific characters and their histories. I thought so was pretty x-savvy but I’ve learned more and had tons of laughs listening to this pod!
