This show has a David Thompson Problem
I have been listening to the Direct Podcast since 2020 loyally. Matt and Liam were exactly what this Marvel nerd was looking for and I enjoyed the show thoroughly. The theories and the breakdowns of the Marvel shows, along with the weekly news updates were a staple. Matt is a wonderful host in. Liam played off of David Thompson well. Upon Liam‘s departure, the show has gone severely downhill. I don’t dislike David as a person, but he is the most negative person in the world when it comes to his reviews and it really weighs the show down. I honestly wonder if he has read many comics in his life, as if he did, he would realize that not every comic run is legendary, just like not every movie or TV show is going to be at the level of the Winter Soldier or Infinity War and Endgame. When I tune into the podcast every week, I don’t need to hear all the awful things in his opinion. What I’m looking for is analysis into what happened, what might come next, and the building blocks that can be built upon, as opposed to tearing the project down. I can only hope at some point there is a better cohost found for the show, as at this point, I’ve started listening to other podcasts more frequently than the Direct.

A Really Fun and Relaxing Podcast
Just discovered the podcast and it’s a great time. Box Office, Marvel, DC, and more talk about popular franchises/universes? That’s my kind of podcast. Love the energy that David and Matt bring onto the episodes and the passion they have for the stuff they talk about is all over it. Easily one of the best podcasts that I’ve listened to in a while. Also, here’s a question that I’m sure would make for an interesting debate. Do you think either Deadpool

Good weekly recaps, fun drafts and rankings
one of the guys says “exploration” when they definitely mean to say “exposition” though

    Great podcast duo
These guys are great when it comes to discussing the various topics each week. The drafts are definitely my favorite part of the show.
  • I Screen, U Scream 4 Movies
    David Thompson is the 🐐
Huge David Thompson fan here and I just had him on my show of “I Screen, U Scream 4 Movies” and no matter where he goes box office or not, he’s got all the word of heart he puts out where he started before and so fun hearing him talking on The Direct! Give em a listen everybody!🎧

    Fan Cast Theory!
Hey fellas! I got a fan cast theory! Remember all those crazy rumors about Mika Kunis playing The Thing? WHAT IF… it’s a smoke screen.. and the actor who is really playing that role, is Mika Kunis’ husband! I believe Ashton Kutcher aka Michael freakin Kelso, would be a perfect fit for Ben Grimm! Just a theory but what do you guys think?

    WOWZA!
I am a movie buff, and nothing makes me more happy when I listen to this gold, just hearing these two and their guests together talking movies it makes my Mondays shorter, it’s…the direct podcast!

    Never miss an episode
Matt and David, y’all are incredible! I love how you guys cover so many universes! I’m trying to get into the comic game, but I have no idea where to start - do you have any recommendations on series/runs that a beginner should start with? Thanks for all you do! David

A must listen for movie fans
The best mix of objective, informed, and unashamed fandom that I have heard on the box office genre of film. A must listen!

    Have MCU
movies been sub-par post Endgame? It just seems to me IMO that not having Cap and Iron Man anymore is waning interest and maybe, just maybe the DCU could be on the rise! Love the podcast guys🤙🏻

    two universes colliding together, again
These guys get it, they somehow worked in a White Sox Dave reference into a draft.

    5 Stars + A Question!
The last two episodes of She-Hulk has me PUMPED for Daredevil: Born Again. You mentioned something in your Andor review last week that made me think. Since Daredevil is a whopping 18 episodes, do you think they’ll need to adopt the 3 to 4 episode arc format to avoid too many filler episodes? Or do you think they can pull it off with one overarching story? One of the faults of standard network TV content is using fillers to fill out a big episode order. You guys rock! -Laurel B

    Black Panther
One small complaint before the movie, I don’t want black panther to be another tech superhero. Biggest hindsight mistake was having killmonger burn all the purple plants. I hope they find a way to have them save killmonger and have him take the mantle or give the new black panther super human abilities. Love the podcast. Keep it up

A comic book store for your ears.
Gentlemen it’s been a minute. I was listening to the D23 episode and had a question. You guys were going over the Thunderbolts roster and I agree Ghost is the most shocking addition to this team. So my question is do we see her again before Thunderbolts? The last time we see her is Ant-Man and the Wasp, and I just feel like it could be jarring to just randomly see her again out of nowhere in her ensemble movie after all this time. Could she be a part (even if it’s small) of Quantumania? Let me know your thoughts and keep crushing the content.

    Comic Book Highlights
Hey Matt and David! I’ve been comic book movie fan for a long time now but haven’t really gotten into the comics themselves. I was wondering if you all could have a segment that highlights the most essential comic book runs for each of the upcoming phase 5 projects. There are obviously a million books out there, so I’d love to have some experts point out the essential stories that could correlate most to what we expect the project to be. Maybe this would be better served as a Direct article, but wanted to share the idea! Ps: just put money on the Colts to win the division so let’s ride!

    Now we go
Quick Question: Matt often refers to a period with a ton of content as a “now we go” period. What is your favorite “now we go” period? For me, it’s gonna be hard to beat the Eternals-Hawkeye-No way Home triple threat of November-December 2021
  • Sneaker jus1
Fan of phase 2 of the POD!
Question: At the end of the Quantumania what do you guys think Scott’s fate will be? Does he die? Serve as a person who warns the other avengers about Kang? Or defeat this variant of Kang only to realize their are an infinite amount of Kang?!

    She-Hulk: Cameos Galore
Hey guys, I found/been listening to your podcast for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it! Quick question: With the She-Hulk series right around the corner, what kind of cameos (other than Daredevil and Wong from the latest trailer) do you guys want to see in the show? Thoughts and thanks for answering!

    Review and Question
Hey guys hope all is well! I just recently found your show through Robby and Kyle of the FFW podcast, and absolutely loved the points you brought to the table, hoping to maybe have another collaborative episode sometime in the future. There isn’t a day at work where i’m not listening to you guys now… I might have a problem haha. Keep up the good work! As for my question i wanted to get your thoughts on our favorite galaxy far far away, what projects are you most exited for following Kenobi, and how do you feel about Dave Filoni becoming the Kevin Feige of Star Wars. Thanks again, sorry for the length!

QQ: Ms Marvel & Shang Chi connection?
Hey guys, I love the podcast. I drive for work so I personally love having a reliable show that regularly exceeds 2 hours, it keeps me entertained on long days, and I love both of your insights. Anyways my Quick Question sort of ventures into crackpot theory territory: We know that the Ten Rings were changed from their comic origin to be arm bands in the Shang Chi movie. We also know that Kamala Kahn’s power-origin was changed to revolve around her great-grandmother’s bangle. Do we think it’s possible that the MCU is building some sort of connection between these ancient magical bracelets? Does this sound crazy? Thoughts?

    You guys are awesome
First things first bring back the post podcast outro for the the people in the back! I appreciate this podcast and love all the hard work you guys do I just wanted to know your opinion on Multiverse of Madness to be more specific in the movie there was a line that I felt like it mattered. Big spoilers for MoM if you have not seen it but it’s almost at a billion dollars so I felt like I could risk it when Dr Strange meets Mr. Fantastic he says something among the lines of “didn’t you guys pop off in the 60s or something” doesn’t that support the theory that the fantastic 4 are stuck in the quantum realm and that’s how they’ll be introduce I know Liam doesn’t love the theory but if done well which is a very hard thing to do it could be good right? Well anyways take care y’all stay blessed

Only Comic Book Podcast You Should Listen To
Love the podcast guys! Everything you guys are doing is fantastic, keep it up! Can’t wait to listen to more! Quick Question- I just saw DS2 MoM yesterday and just listened to the review. Got a question about possible future of characters. Didn’t want to spoil something to people that haven’t seen it. So I sent my question via DM to Liam on Twitter. Thanks!

Long time listener, first time caller
Hi Matt and Liam, I was thinking about the question of who can be the Feige of the DC universe and I believe the right met for it is Greg Berlanti, he has been doing it on the CW with a TV budget, they can also close the Flash series with a movie and he handing the baton tho Wally West and use him for the future Flash movies.

    Love listening to you
I found your podcast after I heard Matt on Friends From Work. You guys are great! I realize I’m old enough to be your mom, but that’s what’s fun. It’s like listening to my kids talk. (That’s a complement!) And I get all the fandoms that I love, plus some pro wrestling comments! And DCOMs! I don’t have a question, you just need to know you’re doing great.

    Fun, Informative, and Casual
I have been listening for a while now (on Spotify) but I have been meaning to leave a review. You guys are awesome and even though I’m not a sports person I love that you bring your own flavor to the fandom conversation with your Drafts and wrestling references. Quick Question: Would you guys consider adding Percy Jackson as the “Orange Brand” when it comes out or HP/Wizarding World as the “Gold Brand”? You guys bring both fandoms up all the time and I’d love to add them into the Convo with Marvel, SW, and DC.
  • rbraverman5
    I love your podcast
I throughly enjoy your podcast. I favorite segments are the reviews and the direct discourse. I have a question in your opinions who would the best batman villains or allies to include in any batman sequel movie or spin off. Keep up the great work Rob

    The best weekly listen
Liam and Matt do a fantastic job keeping casual and nerdy fans informed about the never ending news cycles from all things fantastic. I can count on them to always to have the biggest news covered and to have a weekly Vince McMahon quote thrown in there as well. Quick question: Is Mister Fantastic super hero abilities really that cool? Thanks!

    Love this podcast
I have listened to this podcast from the time of falcon and the winter solider. I loved the awards episode and are going to do the categories with my friend to come up with our own answers. My question is now that Daredevil is MCU cannon. Does this mean we will get Punisher and do you think he will be toned down to better meet house of mouse standers.
  • Brady Yorke
    Question
Hey Matt and Liam love the podcast. Super random question, all MCU movies now instead of having two and three as the sequels titles, they have a subtitle. All except the Iron Man movies if you were to give Iron Man 1,2 and 3 a subtitle what would it be

    Best of the best
I simply love this podcast! Liam and Matt have great chemistry every episode and give excellent insight to all things Marvel/DC/Star Wars. I legitimately get excited every time a new episode pops up in my podcast feed. Thanks for everything you do, keep up the good work, oh and find some time for Clone Wars/Rebels/Bad Batch! You won’t be disappointed 😜

    The Gold Standard of Marvel
Matt and Liam, thank you guys so much for blessing my ears with such awesome content! I wasn’t a fan of podcasts in the past, and I hopped on The Direct Podcast right around the time of WandaVision and it blew me away! Both of your unique takes and analysis on the universes that we love make this podcast stand above the rest and I look forward every week to tuning in to hear what you guys have to say on a plethora of topics. Cheers to many more future podcasts together and have a Happy New Year! Question: With the multiverse opening up limitless possibilities, it’s possible that we see a version of the OG Avengers with different actors playing characters we love. Which actors/actresses would you cast to play variants of the original team?
  • Supreme Melo
    #1 podcast in my book
Hi there Liam and Matt, I love the podcast and enjoy the reviews you do. I am looking forward to what’s in store for 2022! Question: If there was to be a TASM 3, who would you want the villain or villains to be and also how would you feel if they were to bring back Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen from another Universe?
  • SaraMelikian
    Best Marvel/nerdy/comic podcast out there!
Matt and Liam knock it out of the park every single week with detailed, thought-provoking content that will appeal to all nerds of the world! Here’s my question: if you could cast any three professional wrestlers in an MCU role, who would they be, and for what role? Thanks guys!!! Keep on crushing it!

A Must Listen for Marvel Fans
Liam and Matt do a tremendous job of breaking down the endless stream of Marvel content we’ve been getting. They also cover DC and Star Wars but Marvel is definitely their bread and butter. They do such a great job every single week and I’m so thankful for the hard work these guys both put in. Definitely give The Direct a listen! My question for Liam and Matt: As someone who just got into the MCU right before endgame, do you think as time goes on it will be more difficult for the MCU to gain new fans? Especially when considering the long total runtimes of shows and the rate they are producing them.

    Best. Superhero. Podcast.
My boys always come with the hits, week after week this podcast drops and always reminds me why it's my favorite. Makes my drives a lot better getting to have the comic book talk coming out of the speaker, especially it being from people that love this stuff as much as you do. I propose a segment that's called "the direct debate" where Matt and Liam face off about their most controversial msu opinions!! Spidey mailbag question, do we think that there is any chance that at the end of this movie, Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man ends up in the Sony venom verse and is the Spider-Man combating these villans/anti-heros that they're creating? Would be so awesome. -Dylan Bressler

    A loveletter to fandoms everywhere.
This podcast is an essential part of my daily commute, and I couldn’t ask for more. The in-depth conversations and analysis of all sorts of topics makes each episode engaging for every kind of viewer; superfan and casual viewer alike. Question for the next mailbag! With the exciting news that Tom Holland will be sticking around for 3 more movies after No Way Home (pun intended), do you think a new director is coming as well? Watts is famously known for his high school style, so if he is leaving, who would you like to take the reigns on for directing a more adult Peter Parker? Would love to hear your takes!
  • azleeuh
    question #2
sorry camille here again😅 so there has definitely been speculation that nwh could be “too much” or “to packed” with stuff that casual fans may get lost. For ppl who have never seen the past spiderman movies, do you guys think that this will be too much for them or do you trust feige will map everything out without confusion.

    Most Personal Podcast out there
I left a review a long time ago but I think it’s time to update Also I don’t have a question because honestly I’ve run out of questions to ask y’all. I first started following the direct about a year before the podcast started, in October 2020 when my roommate told me that the direct to starting a podcast I got excited. I spend a lot of hours on the road in between home and college so I finally had something to listen to besides music. I listen to the first few episodes and immediately fell in love. Matt and Liam aren’t only good hosts but they are also super passionate and very knowledgeable. I’m was a fan for a few months until I finally decide to follow them on Twitter. That’s when I finally tweeted them for the first time asking them a question about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. They reply back fast and I’m super happy in my favorite podcast hosts actually talk to me. This one question has grown into a year’s worth of almost daily conversations between me and Matt and Liam. I’ll never forget my first reaction when I was driving when Liam mention my name in the podcast, I freaked out! I love this podcast so much Matt and Liam are so personal and even though they really know nothing about me I feel like they’re my friend. Hopefully the relationship only grows from here maybe talking one on one or maybe even meeting in real life. love you guys -Caleb Garrett to few -Mastercookie23 to Matt and Liam

Awesome podcast! Liam and Matt make incredible MCU content. This is a show made by fans for the fans.

    Everything I think
These guys answer the questions before or while we are thinking of them. My question for them is with Star Wars there are so many stories around the original cast. Do you see Disney ever recasting those characters? And doing those stories. My favorite story was Shadows of the Empire.

One the best podcasts out there PERIOD!!
Liam and Matt are awesome and have been great since the first episode! So thorough and great insight into everything Marvel, DC, Star Wars!!! 10/10 would recommend

I never leave reviews, but I’ll write one for Matt & Liam! Started listening during your Loki reviews and have tuned in every week since. So much thoughtful commentary and genuine joy for the topics each week (sans the venom review 😂). And it seems like most people leave a question, so… what’s your thoughts on h styles joining the mcu? p.s. love listening to your podcast when I go on my runs & will be listening to your newest during my half marathon this sunday (so no pressure, but make it a good one!) —Allison

    Fantastic Podcast
First off, I just want to say that I love this podcast and you guys do an incredible job every week. I had a quick question regarding the announcement of the Agatha Harkness spin-off show: Do you think this show will deal with the Fantastic Four in any capacity? I had heard that in the comics, Agatha was first introduced through the Fantastic Four. This had me thinking that this show and the future movie could connect in some way. Do you think this is a possibility?

Payoffs Still Possible - In Feige We Trust
I started listening during WandaVision and have been a loyal listener ever since! I love the spoiler (spoiler, spoiler, spoiler) reviews of all the Marvel TV shows and movies. However, I think you guys were a little harsh with your What If? Finale review. The Watcher chose Killmonger for the team because he KNEW that he would try to take the stones. Supreme Strange says, “We were never meant to win” — the only way for the multiverse to survive was for Strange to sacrifice himself/his universe and capture the stones as soon as they were separated from Ultra-Vision (callback to Endgame!) I agree this show isn’t in my Top Half, but I don’t think it deserves to be worse than last. We’ve waited 8-9 years for some of the MCU’s payoffs, so give it a chance! Personally, I think that weird box Spiderman is holding in the No Way Home trailer looks perfect for holding a tiny “pocket dimension” with Ultra-Vision, Killmonger, and the Infinity Stones. I’d love your thoughts on the payoff or callback possibilities from What If? in future projects. Thanks guys! 😁

For The People in the Back
Matt Roembke and Liam Crowley are two of the best to ever do it! That’s why The Direct Podcast is one of 3 podcasts I legitimately crave every week. With dedicated segments diving into Star Wars, DC and MCU drafts, news, and reviews - this podcast has it all. Except a video companion - so most of you don’t even know how sexy these Bonafide studs are (HOW YOU DOIN). Still, that’s not enough to lose any stars as these two make nerd love to our brains every week. Question/gimmick - Pitch me your dream Star Wars, DC &/or MCU project (show, film, stage production etc.). Please and thank you. Love Thomas 😘⚡️
