When do we get another season?!
The story is really engrossing, and the voice actors do a really great job bringing the characters to life. It is a book format; not a full dramatization, but by far my favorite podcast of the genre! Now I just want more!

    Exceptional story and performances
Easily my favorite podcast! The storyline is fantastic and compelling, and the characters pull you right in. Excellent casting and a spooky cool experience.

Listen if you have time to kill I guess.
This show at its core is very interesting however there were so many moving parts that they wanted to add that it just didn’t work. With so many things going on at once, without explanation, of made it very confusing. After listening to the full thing I was left with so many questions still & the ending was very disappointing. It’s very much an enjoyable listen but don’t be surprised when it feels like you’ve missed something because so much is going on at once.

    Best Story Podcast Ever
This show is by far the best podcast I have ever come across and I have now listened through twice. I wish every podcast was voiced by Dion Graham, who plays Gabriel Majeaux, because his voice is so smooth and calming. I am looking at least once a week since I finished the first time, desperately awaiting season 3. Thank you CD Miller for this masterpiece and I cannot wait to see where you take these beloved characters next!

    Enjoyable but confusing
I am enjoying the show overall. However I have no idea what is really happening…. There are A LOT of characters to keep track of and it seems each new episode is from yet another person’s perspective so I started to get more lost as to what is happening as the story progressed. I still don’t know why one guy (I’ll be damned if I can remember his name) keeps mentioning werewolves…? I’m hoping the next season will give more answers rather than questions.

    Strong storytelling, but
The story is well thought out and interesting, but the female characters and their experiences are poorly written and reflect classic male gaze tropes: a heroine who’s gorgeous but doesn’t know it experiences violence at the hands of another man as soon as the show starts, then calls another man and begs him to save her. This quality is especially noticeable in details describing women’s appearance and dress, which are boringly moralizing (when the heroine is assaulted, she’s wearing a “too short” dress; when we meet a new character, she’s wearing “too much” mascara). I don’t say this to be an idpol scold - men can and do write great, complicated female characters - but it makes this particular show cringingly hard to listen to at times. Still, if this doesn’t bother you, it’s a fun story & listen!

    Pretty Good
Organization is a bit confusing with an episode beginning with a whole new character and no idea how they connect to any other characters. Feels choppy. I agree with those who've said they need more voice actors or at least consistent character voices throughout. And am I the only person wondering why Apple Podcasts says there are 12 episodes in Season 2 but only show 11?

    Phenomenal
I wish ppl would stop first world complaining about the ads. These creators are working hard to bring you free content and they deserve to make money for it. Just fast forward… On a positive note, to the writer of this content: you are insanely talented. I’m completely hooked. Thank you for sharing this with us and I can’t wait to hear more.

    Spectacular story telling
A well fleshed out world with solid story telling. Can’t wait for the 3rd season

    Absolutely immersive!
The world of Dark Heights is deeply immersive. Very enjoyable and the voice acting is superior!

    Great story!
Pros: I Love this story and layout. Keeps you on your toes! Cons: Different voices would definitely help differentiate characters better and way too many commercials.

    Love this!
I was hooked from the first episode. The voice acting is incredible, and the story is intricate and very descriptive with words you don’t often see in a podcast. And the actors don’t mispronounce them! I’m almost done with season one and excited/dreading that. Yay for season 2!

Unique, well-written, strong character development, incredible actors
I was hooked from the first episode. The story-telling and unique character perspectives lends to an already intriguing plot. It’s dark, magical, mysterious, and binge-worthy for sure.

    Riveting
I couldn't stop listening and just had to binge season 2. I'm not a huge fan of horror and violence but there was a lot of craziness going on to keep my interest. It was sometimes hard to remember who a character was that appeared in earlier episodes and then suddenly is back in the story. Not everything connected well and there were a lot of loose ends. I love Gabriel's voice - I could listen to him all day!

    Wanted to like
I really want to like this podcast - the story seems like it’s going somewhere, but the format is odd. It’s more like an audiobook with three readers than a radio play. Why have one voice parody another voice when there’s an established speaker for that character? Why does 19 year old Tess sound closer to 35? I love Gabriel’s voice, but an entire episode about one character is just not doing it for me. I wish this was written as a script and not a book - I’d love to get more into the story, but I just can’t.

    Audio issues
I would love to really get into this story but there are multiple episodes where the audio skips. The audio stops and restarts several minutes back in the episode, like it’s starting over or it just stopping all together. Unknown if I am now missing parts of a story line.

Started my second listen…u should too
7 episodes in to my second listen and I can’t believe how much more I actually appreciate and love this show on the second pass. So many details make sense on second listen. Been a year since my first pass. Absolutely amazing. I look forward to a third listen and probably a fourth. Great work and thank you for creating something that gets me feeling so good. Thank you!

    Middle ground
Ok, the reviews for this show are all over place and one of them is just a 1 star review of the recent Supreme Court decision which has absolutely nothing to do with this show. I thought I would chime in. I really like the show and it has great voice actors, but it’s really hard to keep track of all of the different characters since they’re voiced by narrator at the time. Some of the accents even change based on which narrator is interacting with them. This isn’t so bad, but there are some technical issues with the episodes themselves. Every once in a while the show will suddenly rewind back to an earlier point and then sometimes catch up and sometimes just kind of skip to where it left off. It even did it at the end of S2E6 and it completely skipped the end information of the each episode.

    Fantastic
The only good show to ever come out of Realm. Seriously, I am shocked that this show came from them as the rest of their shows are A W F U L. The voice acting, storyline, and energy in general is enough to get you hooked. So bummed that I’ve caught up on all of the episodes.

    Tropey characters, engrossing plot
I really like the premise of magical beings battling across time. But the characters, ugh!! Helpless white women with superpowers, the nice lesbians die, gay/non-binary men never even kiss, let alone find love, and then there is the literally a magical negro. Oh, if I could skip to the end.

Stop putting woke crap in your shows

    I WANT To Love This
However, the first person narration for practically the entirety of the story is not for me. I start to tune it out when it’s not voice acted by different actors. Would love an audio drama of this. I had to stop because I kept rewinding after tuning it out.

Seriously lets all support killing babies. Maybe learn what roe vs wade means. It changed the decision to the state and litterally there is no ban on abortion just how many weeks they deem it legal.

    Enveloping
What a ride this story took me on! From the start of episode one I felt as if this cast of characters had adopted me into their friend group. The telling of this story through various methods of recollection from each character makes you feel as if you’re the only confidant they have. It envelopes you into their world! So get ready to enjoy a story of so many twists and turns your heart may just jump right out!

    Season 2 please
I just finished this. What a great show. But I would love to know more about Tess and her mom and other characters. I don’t want to give away the story.

    Loved it
I was hooked. Perfect voice acting & good plot. I have a few questions like who’s the guy in the mask?? I listened to this podcast in about 5 days(while I cook dinner) however I couldn’t get through the last 10 minutes of the final episode. I just got bored. I think it was the back and forth. I’m gonna try it again.

    Where’s Season 2?🧐
One of the best shows. Please don’t leave us hanging! I have replayed all episodes at least 3 times a weeks (that’s how much I really enjoy Dark Heights).

Loved everything but the last episode
I really enjoyed almost all of this podcast. The last episode felt slow and seemed to try to answer questions I never had. After spending so much time with Gabriel, the last episode feels pointless. Who was Gabriel writing to? What was the Circle up to? What is Charlie all about? Is Kevin ever going to kiss France? None of that gets answered and instead we have the weakest episode. It was deeply anticlimactic and then had an interesting ending that the writer didn’t work enough to ground in this reality. I would have went there with what happened in the end with a few more gold coins, but this felt random. Also, Lena is an idiot. That I was fine with.

    String American Gods vibes
I’m only on episode 2 and don’t normally write reviews but I 👏love 👏 this 👏 story!! The voice actors are so on point. I can’t remember the last time I loved a fiction full cast podcast.

    Hooked but unsure why
Yes I did listen to all in 2 days. The story had me hooked. And confused. And hooked. Then madly confused. There are several glitches in the sound where lines of conversation repeat in like 10-15 second intervals. I genuinely thought maybe it was a stylistic choice like Charlie’s thoughts but an explanation never came to fruition so maybe it’s just and editing error. Or a bad phone? Unknown. Plz season 2.
  • DeeLovely 007
    Will there be another season?
This was sooo good! But it left me with so many questions! I’m hoping there’s a season 2 b/c I need answers lol

    Tess the Pick Me
Firstly I will say that this is a beautifully executed and engrossing podcast. An elevated audio book with extremely talented voice actors, compelling characters and highly immersive sound editing. The plot is tropey and frustrating at times but genuinely engrossing. The thing that frustrates me the most is Tess’s (who is probably the closest contender to a main character) internalized misogyny. Tess epitomizes the “Not Like Other Girls” trope; stunningly beautiful despite opting to wear comfortable, casual clothes and no makeup; avoids female friendship; whom men are irresistibly attracted because she is apparently so much more profound than any other women they’ve encountered. I could ascribe this to the characters perspective rather than the writers but for the fact that other young women are written to be vapid and social media obsessed. The most heinous example of this (and the point where I stopped listening altogether to podcast that I was otherwise hooked to) was a scene where Tess recalls a day at the beach. Opting to read rather than sunbathe—wow a woman who READS rather than bettering her appearance?!? Unheard of— Tess speculates something along the lines of “what it’s like for other young women with heads devoid of thoughts.” I will probably resume the podcast because I’m curious to see how it ends, am naively hopeful Tess will shed her pick me attitude, and, frankly, have little else to do during this second wave of heightened Covid cases.

    The ending
Okay what happened at the end??? I’m confused 😐 will their be a session 2

    Fantastic story
I LOVED this story and especially the style it was written. The darkness of the story was captured well, I really enjoyed the depth of descriptions of the characters and events as they unfolded. But the ending felt so abrupt, almost couldn’t believe the last episode was actually the last. Really hoping that was a setup for another season.
  • amazed1009
    Ultimately disappointed
Seems like someone said end it next episode so they did. Very unsatisfying. Has potential. However I wasted hours listening for what? Like being in the middle of a book and suddenly - the rest of the pages are blank. So many people introduced in the end, for what? Filler? Please don’t waste our time. It had potential… for a few episodes.
  • dreamwatcher11
    Please give an ending
This was a wonderful and darkly interesting show but felt like there was so much more. Will there be a second season ? Please

    Great podcast story!
Realm didn’t disappoint as always but the ending for Dark Heights left me still wondering, needing a conclusion .??

Interesting take on the supernatural passing among us and the unspeakable horrors we knowingly allow in a “normal” average American small town population. So Good!

    Addictive!
I can’t believe so few people have rated this fantastic podcast. I found it by accident and was immediately hooked. Bingeing ensued! Fun, well written, with excellent voice actors.

Everything Realm produces is exceptional. If this was a book it would have guote highlights all over it.
  • phaymack
    Uhh what??
There’s literally three different stories here and they bear a thin connection. Each story was okay just not really connected to the others. The final episodes were filled with people who never had a voice before and didn’t really need it. It was just annoying filler.
