    Great experience
Always great to learn new bits and pieces from history. Most of which I wouldn’t have learned on my on. Great variety of guests and subjects

    Unique Guests
Justin brings on truly unique characters who contributed to the spy and tradecraft enterprise over hundreds of years of experience between them. Terrific show.

    Very worth my time
Superb. Good interviewing and open questions by a host who isn't trying to push his own agenda. Fascinating guests. And production values (e.g. sound mixing) is perfect. Thank you! Keep up the good work.

    Fantastic and Amazing topics
So many wild and unbelievable stories of Cold War era shenanigans! While Justin mostly focuses on WW2 thru the end of the Cold War, he has also made several historical episodes that trace the art of spycraft back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, and even to such diverse locations as Northern Ireland, Laos and the Congo. Guests are knowledgeable and informative and offer tremendous insight into the topic at hand. Keep up the excellent job!

Best Spy podcast on the web
Spyctaft 101 with Justin Black is absolutely fantastic. His straight forward interview style lets his guests tell their stories in great depth and detail. Each episode is entertaining, informative, and always engaging. I’ve been a spy enthusiast since I was a kid and this show is by far the best of its kind. I highly recommend this series. I have enjoyed every single episode and I know you will too.

    Needs a bit of refinement
I recently found this podcast and was really hopeful because it sounded really really interesting. So far, I have had to stop about half of the episodes in the middle because I just couldn’t listen anymore. The guy who hosts it has a very flat, robotic tone. One episode I terminated this morning was just him reading. I could tell he was reading, and trying to annunciate, but it was halting. It’s hard to listen to somebody just obviously read for 45 minutes. One episode I listened to the other day had a guest on who went into inordinate detail about things that didn’t matter. I don’t generally have attention problems, but at some point, the major plot is lost. again, I think it was that the host just let the guest go on and on, and didn’t try to subtly redirect back to the main storyline. There have been a few episodes that have been really interesting, so I’m going to keep trying.

    The best spy podcast
We learn a lot from this show. It is as if you are in a classroom. It is educative, intuitive, and interesting. It’s guests are knowledgeable and sincere. The host is engaging and attentive. Keep up the good work. We look forward to new episode each time. Appreciate the education. It shows no one is never too old to learn or be taught. 😉

    Great for espionage aficionados
Great podcast - brings in a lot of interesting people

    Awesome all around
Awesome to listen to the in depth stories about things that happen in the world. Also kudos to the fact that you connect with personnel that experienced the story, hearing perspectives is so much more intriguing then just listening to the same person tell stories.

Conspiracy theory garage that is not well researched
I was so excited to listen to this podcast and is this why I am so disappointed. I just listened to episode 142. The Cover up of the Tragic USS Liberty Incident. It is complete garbage. I know about this subject and I could tell right away that is was wrong. Now I won’t trust any of the other episodes. What bothers me most, is the host was eating up the conspiracy. The guest on this show says he didn’t want to continue to going to high school so he joined the navy. His lack of education and low rank shows. He believes President Johnson and Israel had planned years in advance to have the USS Liberty sunk in justification of starting a nuclear war against Egypt. He claims they wanted to blame the sinking on Egypt. He clearly doesn’t understand detente or mutually assured destruction we had with the USSR. This was a tragic friendly fire incident - nothing more. Israel called off the attack once they realized the mistake. If it was the intent sink the Liberty, they clearly wouldn’t have called off the attack and sunk the ship.

    Great Topics
Love the topics covered in the podcast. Check out their IG and store too!
  • FilthyFitz
    Informative and entertaining
Great podcast that exposes listeners to lesser known stories and dives deeper into perhaps more well known stories. I know I can pick just about any episode and enjoy it. Most episodes end with me trying to find the books mentioned and learning more. The host does not dominate the interviews and does a good job with storytelling.

    Excellent podcast AND customer service!
To go along with the already stellar podcast, Justin sells items on his personal store. Escape and evasion kits, his books, etc. I ordered one of these products and was sent an extremely similar, albeit different, product in the mail. I emailed Justin with a picture of my order and what I received and he responded within an hour that he had already shipped out the correct item. I returned the first item to him and received the correct one in the mail just a few days later. Well done Justin!

    Great show!
I love the show…except when Justin eats during the interview (ie episode 102) and all you can hear is chewing during a fascinating discussion!
  • Laneyluvs13
The amount of detail is astonishing
These episodes are very well put together in detail along with the great interviews from the people who were there. Keep up the good work Justin

    High quality content, fascinating guests
I subscribe to most espionage-related podcasts, and this is easily my favorite one. The topics are diverse and interesting, the interviews are very well done. If you’re a fan of history of the Cold War or spycraft, there’s no podcasts I can recommend above this one.

    Excellent Historical Podcast!
Justin does an excellent job at researching and presenting topics in a realm where information is difficult to come by. This podcast has introduced me to several amazing books, authors, and unknown topics in the world of espionage.

    Excellent podcast!
Erick Miyares episode was excellent. He has a great message, great story and he continues serving the team to this day. Love the historical aspect of your show, Justin. Have learned so much from WWII, Vietnam , the Cold War, GWOT and every type of conflict in between. Keep up the great work!

    Best Espionage podcasts available!
I love all these episodes! When the international spy museum’s podcasts went down the drain, it left a big hole in quality content. But these productions are smart, well produced, and the interviews are excellent at gleaning the information in a logical order, which makes it easier to process and remember. Like a good non-fiction tv show, there aren’t periods of useless, lame banter that makes you tune out. These podcasts are worthy of focused attention, and are hard to resist binging. Thank you for making them! (The special series on women spies was my favorite, I humbly ask/beg for more in the future.)

    One of my favorite podcasts!!

E 71 interview of Stephen Monteiro, author The Graybird of Baghdad.
Excellent interview, and just wait until you read the book. An amazing true story that definitely fits into the thriller category. Thank you Justin for keeping us informed on both the historical aspects of the spy business, as well as some modern day operations that potentially help secure our nation and the world. Stephen had a breathtaking and successful assignment. Five Star podcast every time.

    Microphone interference
I really enjoy the podcast. The episode on the 11 year old executed for being a spy sounded so interesting but I’m unable to listen because of microphone interference. It’s so annoying that I want to hear the story and can’t focus due to the sound problem. Please try to edit.

Just too good to not listen to every word
Hands down the most interesting podcast I have found. You can’t put this on and tune out.

A must-listen podcast for all spy aficionados
I was a guest of Justin’s (episode 17) and subsequently became an avid listener. He does his homework and research and dogs deeper than almost anyone I know. He interviews without ego and elicits a lot of information. I have learned new things about many people and subjects I was somewhat familiar with - even better, I have come across things I knew nothing about and learned an immense amount. Justin is in this business for the right reasons. He took the trouble to come to a book event held for me and ended up in a house full of old spies!

    Audio Inconsistent
Great podcast and interviews, but Episode #46 had terrible audio. This was a shame because I really wanted to hear guest interview.

  • Laurent Rossignol
    Great interviewer
Wonderful podcast with a lot of interesting information but I believe the real gem is the excellent questions asked to the guests. They lead the guest wonderfully from topic to topic while allowing the speaker to have free mobility to answer all the points with proper context. Definitely would recommend
  • indischrot
    Fantastic resource
Intelligent questions and gives guests plenty of time to tell the story in their own words. Great editing cuts out the fat to keep the listener engaged. You won’t believe the stories within.

    Unlike anything else
There is no single source that goes into the depth to bring such a high concentration of good info that’s interesting other than spycraft101. It’s obvious even to the lesser informed how much work must go into this. Please keep it up
  • Orangebang72.0
    Great show!
This show has quickly become one of my favorite. The guests always have great isight into otherwise unknown or improperly told stories. Highly recommend!
  • AirAmerica88
    Thank you!
Excellent, insightful podcast with those who were there covering parts of our history few know about and even less discuss. Very impactful to hear these guys tell their stories in person - they’ve been waiting a long time - you can hear the excitement in their voices, especially Neil Hansen. Until recently, history has been passed down via storytelling; the podcast format is allowing us to do that once again, and I’m glad to see more of histories unknown heroes taking advantage of that for our benefit. Thank you Justin for all that you do on your IG page and podcast to bring these men snd women to light, for both the listener and story teller.
  • Cpetersen15
