    Too Growth-Pilled
First episode was going great until he started prioritizing growth over climate change and equality.

A timely voice for our fragmented political environment
A fresh perspective that help us look beyond the reductionism of left and right political thinking. This is a must for anyone seeking to think deeper about our times.

The Most Important Conversations of our Lives
This podcast keeps me sane and hopeful in an increasingly insane and unpredictable world. Thank you Nate and all of his guests!

    Most Important Conversations
I truly believe these conversations are a giant leap forward to shift our consciousness away from the human-centric views that have gotten us into this mess and towards a more holistic culture. I hope more folks can deeply hear this wisdom, and make life changes. Specifically, the conversation series with Daniel S, are in my opinion the most important conversations I’ve ever heard.

    Worth your time!
I look forward to each posting of Nate’s thoughtful interviews and commentaries surrounding this alarming and challenging predicament humans have created that is increasingly affecting each one of us in a variety of ways. Nate’s diverse guests from around the world share thought provoking and well informed perspectives that constantly expand my understanding of this unraveling of life as I have known it. But along the way, as daunting and discouraging as this can be, I am increasing my awareness and possibilities.

    Superb
I’m not a podcast person. I’m addicted to this show though. Nate guides us with his innate curiosity into these complex systems and doesn’t preach or tell us what to believe or do. His voice is tinged with caring but also a bit of an edge. Makes these two hour conversations fly by.

    Bizarre
Neurotransmitter “inner tech” means we can’t charge our electric vehicle for two hours before seeing a baseball game? I thought this guy was smart until this idiotic claim. I also have to do laundry for two hours to have clean clothes to wear to the baseball game and somehow that doesn’t stop me. I have to work for hours at a job to afford the tickets to the game that doesn’t stop me. This guy is a clown.

    Level-headed, systems-savvy, and still personable
Decades into my studies of our human predicament, along comes Nate Hagens and his articulate transmission of a complementary perspective on the situation. Nate has unique insights on the centrality of energy in all processes, and a gift for making friends with brilliant people who enhance my understanding in surprising ways. Thanks, Dr. Hagens!

    Informational
Excellent information, and does a good job of separating data from opinion. My biggest criticism is the intro is significantly louder than the episodes - please fix.

    Best in Balance
As Rome falls this series of dialogues provides a practical view of what is and a possible series of handles for getting a grip. Put on your thinking cap and get ready for some genuine intelligence.

    Get to the point
This review is for Episode 71. I’m over 90 minutes in and not a single mention of AI yet. The conversation is plodding, pedantic and endless. Obvious points are mercilessly flogged and yet superficially treated. Only for fans of endless exposition.

    A rather transcendental experience
I’ve been into the “collapsnik” content since the IPCC report in 2021. Listened to Ashes Ashes to learn more about the fragile aspects of our civilization and to The Poor Prole’s Almanac which is a more practical pod, with many excellent episodes around sustainable food growing and other kinds of knowledge and skills lost by the urban dwellers. The Great Simplification is something completely different. Yes, I knew the decrease in quality of life was coming, but I’ve never centered my understanding around the energy and the superorganism feeding on it. The bird’s-eye view of this podcast is absolutely invaluable – I'm an activist and now I better understand the problems we face and it's easier for me to articulate to other people what exactly is going on. Not to mention all the amazing stories from the r folks who worked on this even before I was born and have seen the build-up of the current crisis with their own eyes. The only thing I wish to see is more guests from the Global South. I live in Latin America and we have many unique problems that aren't present in places like the US or UK. Other than that, thanks a lot for your work, Nate!

    Change the story
The content is undeniably correct. But there is no way out of this without changing the story. I recommend Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and also recommend changing the creation story from Eve and the snake to Skywoman Falling onto Turtle Island because it embodies the change from a capitalist system to a gift economy. And we cannot survive if we don’t change the story.

I cannot get enough of this incredible wellspring of wisdom. So grateful for this important work and learning journey.

Absolutely amazing podcast - Highly recommend
The cover photo unfortunately makes it look like it was a hocus-pocus podcast that wasn’t serious. But the complete opposite is the case. Highly credible experts from around the world and different scientific fields connect the dots on the most important topics of today (and tomorrow, of course). I spent hours and days listening to this podcast and every single minute was worth it. Thank you, Nate, for putting together such an excellent podcast.

    Great simplification
One of the best sources for high end thinking about how we got into the current economic and climate crisis

Thank you for the great work!
This podcast looks at the big picture. In a world of specialists, we need more systems thinkers and compassionate generalists. Thanks for adding to both these areas of deficit!

    Heart and Brains
Nate Hagens discusses the coming simplification with intelligence, humanity, and compassion for the entire ecosystem. And an impressive Rolodex. Where does he find such wonderful guests?

One of few men I look forward to hearing pontificate
Nate Hagens is one of the few men I look forward to hearing pontificate. Smart, complex, yet accessible, his critique of our systemic crisis is spot on. Hearing the difficult truth surprisingly offers relief and “post-tragic” hope. I so appreciate his willingness to dedicate his brilliance and his voice to our collective awareness. His guests are astonishingly high caliber - no empty filler in these recordings. Best podcast for our times. Thank you, Nate.

    So good, and ever-evolving
The conversations have all been interesting, especially the series with Daniel Schmachtenberger, but there’s something to be gained and learned from all of them, and can’t recommend them enough.

    Really Great
The major theme of this podcast can be found elsewhere in various books, blogs, podcasts, etc (though still startling few!) but this podcast is near or at the very top in terms of quality of interviews, breadth of topics covered, and cohesiveness to the central thesis Nate is uncovering. Honestly, even the title, “The Great Simplification”, is such a perfect and succinct way to describe our current predicament and inevitable future. I’m always eager for the next episode to drop! Thank you Nate for quality work, quality interviewees, and labor towards preparation for what is doubtless to be difficult times ahead.

If you are brave and really want to know about the unfolding catastrophe of humanity this is for you. These dialogues express clearly some of my longstanding beliefs but I always felt pretty isolated - until now.
