Their seemingly idyllic seven-year marriage abruptly ended when Spencer was arrested under shocking circumstances. Jenifer's quest for closure leads her to confront the truth about her husband through candid interviews with his victims and other affected women. Through these conversations, Jen begins to heal and reclaim her life from the shadow of betrayal. And make sure to check out Betrayal: The Perfect Husband, which follows Jen's story streaming on Hulu.

In Season 2, Ashley Lytton, a suburban mom of three in Utah, faces a life-altering revelation about her husband. His shocking crime not only jeopardizes their safety but thrusts Ashley into a relentless quest for justice and protection for her daughter. Through Ashley's harrowing journey, the season exposes a pervasive issue affecting families nationwide, shedding light on a betrayal that undermines our core values and communities. And make sure to check out Betrayal: A Father's Secret, which follows Ashley's story streaming on Hulu.

In “Betrayal” Season 3, Stacey Rutherford thought she met her soulmate when she laid eyes on Dr. Justin Rutherford. They fell in love, and it was better than she ever imagined. But this family doctor, beloved father, and cherished husband had dark secrets. He had sworn to do no harm but would resort to any means necessary to save himself.

    Great
I really enjoy listening to this podcast, while you may think, ‘how did they not get it’ I completely understand how people can make a million excuses for those they love. Don’t hate on the victims, it could happen to you.
  • KatyKat85
    Two Things
    1. Please differentiate between child victims and adult victims. I know there was feedback on the language around “grooming.” Y’all allowed adult women to place themselves on the same level as a child, which is psychological and legally so inaccurate. It dilutes the actually victim/survivors experiences. 2. Do some legal fact checking. Former USAO for Utah is wrong on the state law around CSAM production. There is no mandatory minimum for production of CSAM. UCA 76-5-402.1, 402.3, & 403.1 talk about mandatory prison sentences for the hands-on offense, not production. Utah law even provides for a lesser prison sentence under certain circumstances. Furthermore, those offenses only apply where the victim/survivor is legally defined as a “child,” meaning under the age of 14. Utah is abysmal with sentencing for sex offenses on the state side. Loads of prosecutors seek federal charges in CSAM cases for this exact reason.

    Good but annoying host
I stick with it still bc I like the content (usually) but the style of the host can be grating, her sing -songy rhythm is annoying. Not sure how much more I can take. Like other reviews that one home wrecker lady who married a cheater deserved what she got and the host is playing like she was sympathetic or something. Gross.
  • WhereIsMyMoneyBusyKid
    Just nope.
Does anyone else listen to these episodes and think “what an idiot?” I can’t believe so many people ignore bright red flags. Yikes. Also half of each episode is ads and it’s SUPER annoying. Trying to jog or work while hitting the skip button 18+ times isn’t fun. I’ll just read the story online omg

    Great show
I love this podcast. The guests always have different stories and I look forward to it every week.

    Love this.
Absolutely love the job Andrea Gunning does. These stories while are heartbreaking and sometimes hard to hear, they are done very well. I always look forward to listening

    Downhill fast.
First 2 season dealt with the predators taking advantage of the ones close to them. S3 is a complete mess featuring storys of homewreckers who got cheated on… like what kinda garbage Housewives drama has this show devolved into.
  • yoyohio
    No victims
The women on these episodes are not victims! Even the host trying to use sad voice doesn’t help! You marry a cheater and are surprised they cheat?? You knew they were a crook but surprised they are crooked?? Come on

    Why are they rereleasing?
This is my favourite podcast. But I’m paying for it and they keep rereleasing episodes, I don’t like that at all. An episode is supposed to come out today but I’m seeing nothing.
  • Jules517
    I give up
I’m giving it two stars because the first two seasons were so compelling. This last story was more on theme but not very interesting. It has become boring and over dramatic.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Literally on the edge of my seat, listening to Andrea and the Guest speaking about traumatic experiences! After listening to every episode, I feel thankful for my life, but I also feel aware that this could happen to me at any point. Definitely puts life into perspective and love to hear how every guest has turned their pain into power. Every interviewee delivers a story with such honesty and openness that is truly admirable.

    Best crime podcast
I love this podcast, it’s my favorite BUT it irks me I pay for it and there are multiple re-releases.

    Come on guys… episode 18…
To the writers of this podcast, you are starting to grasp at straws with episode 18. It didn’t even match your description of your own show.. “This is betrayal. A show about the ones we trust most and deceptions that change everything…” a lady gets her feelings hurt because she trusted a fake “influencer” in a Facebook group…. That doesn’t exactly fit the bill for your own show.

    Addictive
I love this podcast. The host has an easy to listen to, engaging voice. The music is on point and stories eerily excellent. Love listening on the go, in the car, while I’m doing chores, crocheting, or on a walk. If you love true crime this is its cousin. Give it a listen 👍🏼👍🏼

    Season 3
Season 3 is absolutely amazing. Tyler and Stacy are inspirations. Thank you for sharing your truths. God Bless.

Ads present even with ad free subscription
I have iHearts ad free subscription but I guess Betrayal doesn’t participate in that & it’s only this podcast that doesn’t seem to have an ad free version.
  • hecallsmebubbles
    Meh
Every story is infuriating. Granted these are real stories but the victims put themselves in comprising situations, ignore red flags, make choices that make them vulnerable and then whine and complain when they get taken advantage of. When they do get victimized most don’t get help and dwell and do nothing to move on except play the poor old me card. After these last 2 episodes… unfollow!!

I recommend this Podcast at least once a week
This is in my top 3 favorite podcast. Andrea reports shocking stories in an intriguing, response, and professional manner. She is always considerate of the subject person’s and her listeners’ feelings. Her voice is soothing, and her words are thoughtful. I absolutely love this podcast.

    Lost the Plot
This show has gone downhill faster than a ski jumper slathered in bacon grease being chased by the abominable snowman. I’d rather trim my toenails with a weedwhacker than listen to what this show has become. Deuces, I’m out.
  • Lovin' This
    Love it!
This is one of the podcasts that I look forward to on a weekly basis! Andrea isn’t a distracting host and does a great job coming in to summarize while focusing on the story teller.

    Thanks. I needed this
I’m a new listener. I’m on episode, “Smile.” I was raped at 14. I told my best friend and my brother. My stepdad took me to the police station. This was in 1995. The detective that interviewed me made it seem like it was my fault because I didn’t scream or run out the room. He made me feel so uncomfortable I ended the interview. I found myself crying at work. Thank you for this episode.
  • FRob76
    Survivors are incredible!
Updated review. Thank you, thank you to these incredible survivors and the Betrayal staff. You are the only podcast that covers this content with true empathy and survivor-centered honesty and truthful integrity . If you and “Something Was Wrong” (My tied for first fave) had a baby, it should run for President ❤️❤️ Listening to these episodes breaks my heart, but also shows me what true strength is and how lucky we are to have this life. Every season of this podcast has been truly amazing. Season 3 was heartbreaking in every possible way, especially if you’re a boy mom. But it also showed me the depth of strength of survivors, and I’m so grateful for their bravery to share their stories in an effort to help other's. You’re my heroes!
  • Raevinous
    Starting to Decline
I used to love this show. It was always really interesting. However, now it seems most of the story is unnecessary backstory and the “betrayal” is thrown in like an afterthought. I also think the stories aren’t as intense or gut wrenching. The one about the woman in the internet community in particular was lacking. These are the people’s stories, but there is a level of “entertainment” (for lack of a better term because I’m not happy these people experienced these things) the story should bring. It just feels drawn out now. I’d wait longer for better, more detailed betrayal stories.
  • lynntanno
    Love Listening to Betrayal.
I enjoy each episode of Betrayal. It is quite intriguing. I usually listen on my way to and from work. It amazes me what can be going on right under our noses and we are clueless. The podcast brings to light the many, many ways people can deceive you. What often comes to mind when I think about betrayal is that in romantic relationships, but it comes in so many different forms. The podcast makes you more attentive to the actions of others in your life. Maybe even a little paranoid. Great work on the podcast, but sorry so many people in this world are being betrayed and traumatized.
  • nccurlygirl
    Great episodes
Great podcast with great stories. Look forward to listening every week. I can relate to so many betrayals. I so relate to Carmen Wong’s episode. So nice to have an episode about a Dominican woman/family.

Some of the Reviews on here are so disrespectful! These are stories of lives that these people struggle from everyday! If you don’t appreciate their trauma keep your mouth shut and move on! I appreciate this Podcast very much thank you!!❤️

    Love it!
I enjoy this podcast and look forward to listening to it every week. It’s easy to listen and say “there’s no way I wouldn’t have known about xyz..” but you truly don’t know unless you’re in that situation. I think Andrea does a fantastic job and I enjoy listening to her.

    Mixed feelings
I’m with the other recent comment on the Sara episode…something seemed off with that one. Not sure what it was, can’t quite put my finger on it but regardless, it just wasn’t a great episode. I’ve really enjoyed a few Betrayal episodes, but there have been some that lacked something.
  • ywh630
    Build up episodes
I like the new weekly episodes. Part 1 and maybe a 2nd episode. I get bored and move on when the story is dragged out.
  • Coretta P
    Needs Work
The show is clearly running out of material. The last “victim” Sara seemed to be demanding a friendship from a woman she didn’t know online that repeatedly pushed her away. Yet she felt betrayed learning the woman wasn’t real? Makes no sense.
  • lunalgt
    Hit and miss
The ads are excessive, discordant, and jarring. Some of the stories, especially the people who have done deep inner work, are well-worth listening to. Season two is excellent, and I recommend it whenever relevant. Rachel Heller has filed a lawsuit against this podcast team (and Hulu) for including her in the tv adaptation of the first season—I find this troubling. The latest episode, “Sara”, in November 2024, is such a soporific slog, I have no idea how the team pressed “publish”.

These episodes never go where I think they will. Always engaging!

    Interesting but skeptical!
While I do find the episodes interesting there are some facts throughout some that leave me with questions. How can a person live with an intimate partner and NEVER see one of their feet!!!
  • Jaded215
    Sara again this week
Sara was posted last week and again this week. No new show this week?
  • Ultravox5050
    Chelsea (anonymous) episode feels fake
Not just because it’s anonymous (but that doesn’t help). The subject’s testimony is jargon-filled and comes across like bad, melodramatic overacting; and the facts seem too movie-of-the-week perfect to be true. Also, narrator’s tone is cheesy.
  • ShaSha827
    Sara
This newest episode about Sara being in a group on Facebook, and one of the moderators was a catfish. I kept waiting for the betrayal part. So a stranger on Facebook gave you discouraging comments about parenting and…? What? I kept anticipating some sort of climatic twist but no. This episode was lame.
