    Great but too short
I think this is a great podcast and it offers a smart, centrist analysis of current events that is so often missing in American politics. My only problem with it is that it’s a bit too short, and sometimes Mead tosses out some big ideas without really explaining what he means or giving specific examples.

    No pushback
I don’t understand how you can call this “a conversation” when Jeremy does not participate. There is never any pushback, even on sometimes ridiculously false claims. The show would be so much better if the points of view were challenged here and there.

    Smart
WRM’s take on political intrigues, electoral shenanigans, diplomacy, and what and why it matters, is moves ahead on the global chessboard. To the point. Concise, pithy without being disrespectful. A great reality check!

    Great Pod for International Affairs
This is a ‘must have’ for anyone interested in international affairs. I’ve read Walter Russell Mead for many years due to his insights in world affairs. This pod allows one to listen to his experience & knowledge of such issues. A must for all students of world issues.

    Starting to wonder about WRM
He is becoming more and more cynical, even in the short time since this podcast series began. Less insightful than he once was. Becoming the cliché crank, which is sad.

    Insightful and educational
Love this podcast. It offers complex topics in small, digestable bites. So insightful and thought provokomg.

    Always informative
I look forward every week to listen to this podcast. WRM gives calm, almost soothing observations about the current state of the world (which isn’t soothing to think about). Love the format too.

    Commentary
This is a nice commentary on the world from someone who has been around and is used to seeing and commenting on the facets of the day. It gives the commentary some recent (50 years or so) historical perspective and context. I don’t always agree with the selection of the facts that are used or what significance is place on the facts to make his point but it makes a good tool to examine my own opinions. Even if you disagree with the center right leaning I think it is useful and worthwhile for anyone.

    Great show, great insight
This is probably the podcast that I look forward to the most. Walter Russell Mead is a brilliant man with a thorough worldview that helps listeners understand the complex situations unfolding around the globe. I had a professor in graduate school who was always sharing wisdom from Mead and I enjoyed it so much that I started to seek it out on my own. Glad I found this podcast.

    Exceptional Insight
Walter Russell Mead’s analysis are insightful and based on wide knowledge of the issues. His historical perspective is the missing ingredient in the current Administration. The Biden group is suffering from the Progressive belief that human nature is amenable, the basic flaw in liberal thinking. Listening to Walter Russell Mead’s podcast should be .a mandatory requirement of the State Department. David B. Goldenson

An Important Source of Thoughtful information
Excellent insight into the news, along with what might be regarded as news, but really is not. Short, concise and worthwhile for any level of sophistication. It’s a keeper
  • APS47
    No-nonsense news
Provides just the information essential to reason to his compelling points of view.

    Distills it for you
Fine little podcast on American foreign policyfrom Tablet by the esteemed liberal-internationalist thinker and academic Walter Russell Mead, also a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal and other places. He and host Jeremy Seagal parse a few major stories a week, then take up one major theme at greater depth for the rest of each episode. Mead is a classical liberal, not a "progressive," so his analysis and inclinations are liberal-minded with a heavy dose of common sense, not a wholesale rejection of facts and history. Such voices are more and more politically homeless, but podcasting and independent journalism like Tablet provide a new venue such writers.

    The best Podcast
If you really want to understand the world then listen to WRM. Also kudos to Jeremy for being a great host.

Does Chuck Schumer represent American Jews?
This maybe off-topic. I agree with Chuck Schumer but I dislike the way the media, all of the media, covered his speech. There is no position for “the most powerful Jewish politician in America” It doesn’t exist and it shouldn’t exist. Chuck Schumer is the senator for the state of New York, not for American Jews. I live in the state of Pennsylvania. I have two senators who represent me. Susan Stein

    Truth
WRM seems to have no dog in any fight. All he wants to do is help us understand what’s true, and he’s very very good at that.
  • Peretz770
    Very informative
    His analysis is very insightful
  • WRM fan
    WRM
WRM as a good historian often applies the history to our present situations. The younger generations would benefit from his wisdom. Also is it named W-hat R-really M-atters on purpose to reflect his name W-alter R-ussell M-ead? Certainly makes it easy to remember his name :).

    Informative and entertaining
Every time I read or listen to Walter Russell Mead, I learn something, and he’s never boring. I also appreciate that while he does have a point of view, he doesn’t pander to some caricature of a conservative audience. He’s not playing on emotions to get clicks. Well done.
  • this is one crappy game
    Informative & Entertaining!
WRM exudes wisdom, reason, humor and insight. His take is equally engaging to seasoned foreign policy gurus and those just discovering their interest.

    What really matters
Consistently interesting and thought-provoking, literate, eclectic, witty and probably wasted on (but highly instructive for) the youth

    Great addition to my week
I discovered WRM via his appearance on Conversations With Tyler, and it was one of my favorite episodes of that podcast so I was very happy to see this new show.

Best new podcast I’ve come across in a long time
I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough. So many original thoughts and insights. WRM brings a historical perspective to current events that is honest, wise, and thought provoking. This shouldn’t be missed!

    My favorite new podcast
I literally look forward to Fridays, when this podcast is dropped (like TGIFfrom Honestly, also great). The analysis is informative, incisive, and insightful. I have long liked foreign policy, which this podcast covers, but the perspectives on domestic issues (civil rights, supreme court, etc.) are deep and provoking. Great job Jeremy and Walter!
  • Sam3232456
    Great show
Russel is smart, analytical, and a wealth of information. Jeremy is similarly thoughtful, stirs the conversation well, I’m taking mine, and asks good questions. I wish they provide us at the end of every episode with a link to a book, or some other resource, for those who are interested in a deeper dive into the “big conversation”.

Best new news and history pod
My new go to for news and history, WRM is a gem and the hosts chemistry is very good. Also funny and fun.
  • Sshef
    Against conventional wisdom
I find Walter’s realpolitik instincts illuminating. But I would like to see more of an appreciation of the deep sentiments of the Chinese and Indians, rather than just as adversaries Have the Chinese changed so much in the last few years or have we become obsessed with our declining world position? Is this Cold War necessary?
  • MPDC1980
    Always insightful
Great weekly conversations around key domestic and foreign policy issues.

    Great current events podcast
I stumbled onto this podcast a couple of weeks ago, and I'm certainly glad I did. Walter Russell Mead and company are very knowledgeable and give a balanced perspective on world events.
