...and I mean that in the very best way. I loved critical analysis and theory in my English classes so this is immediately my new fave podcast.

This podcast makes me feel like I’m in school again in the best way because I’m a nerd and I love school and I have really thought so much about not only the Harry Potter world, but our world today in new and interesting and satisfying ways. I am a new listener and I’ve been binging and loving it.

I am planning on reading the series to my daughter (now only 10 months old, when is too soon to start!?) and this podcast is an amazing way for me to rethink the story I feel like I know so well while she experiences it for the first time!

Great podcast! I needed a space where I could engage with the series in a way that didn’t excuse the issues with the author. As a black woman, I enjoy how relatable this is and how there are connections to the real world. This pod is so well done and is always so intellectually engaging. Thank you Prof. Julian for all the work you have put into this. It means a lot!

Brilliant podcast. I love Harry Potter which makes it a safe topic to overlay difficult or challenging conversations on top of. Small detail but the little musical interludes in between chapters give you time to absorb the thought provoking questions and re engage instead of just being stuck on listen not think mode. Love it!!

I am so grateful for this podcast and all that it does to engage with the wizarding world but also to talk about our world. Because we’re not just talking about these witches and wizards, are we? I love the questions it’s made me consider. Why is the bar for heroism so low for purebloods? Why are there so many grown Ron’s out here? How can we help the Arthur’s of the world learn to actually engage with muggles appropriately? A rare podcast that is both enjoyable and will make you a better thinker and better person.

The analysis, the empathy, the evidence, the humor and wit— this podcast has been not only a wonderful reminder of the wizarding world of my childhood, but has helped me reflect on my own relationship with the characters and their impact on how I understood the world as a child. This is art and therapy and friendship and perfection!!!

I saw a reel four days ago and immediately downloaded the first episode. I’m hooked! I’m ten episodes in and I’m loving the analysis and deeply appreciate the level of care Professor Wamble takes to discuss each character and the dynamics. I love the reminders to bring the same energy and grace to discussions of less loved characters. It’s good for this and it’s good for life!

As a fellow Grown up Potterhead this podcast gives me the discussion I love to have about the Potter characters! Prof. Wamble is an absolute joy to listen to and official “friend in my head”. I find myself agreeing or disagreeing out loud as I listen to him!

This podcast feels like I’ve just said goodbye to my roommate, slung my backpack on, walked across the quad, grabbed a coffee from the cafe in the library, sharpened my #2 pencil, opened my brand new spiral notebook, and sat down to my favorite class with my favorite professor. Discussions are lively, thoughtful, critical, and empathetic. If you love Harry Potter do yourself a favor and listen to this pod!

I’ve listened to other HP analytical podcasts in the past and this one truly tops the rest. Prof W is committed to the “chaos” of engaging with listeners in a refreshing way to bring alternative perspectives to every conversation. He humanizes these fictional characters and is candid about his own biases. Absolutely love. I found his work via Instagram and I urge others to check it out as well.

Professor Wamble is engaging, hilarious, and so good at critical thinking y’all. Not to mention a fantastic bass/baritone. He uses humor and obvious passion to conduct deep dives of characters. Love it!!

I stumbled across Prof Wamble’s TikTok and I am rereading Harry Potter as an adult with my book club and his lectures grabbed my attention about how uncritically I read it as a child. I love this podcast as a way for us to get to experience his classes and thoughts. It’s such a fun way to explore these concepts and I love this and highly recommend it!! Amazing job and thank you so much for the content you’re creating!

I’ve been a mega fan of Prof Wamble ever since I stumbled upon his lectures on TikTok. I am absolutely thrilled that he now has a podcast so we can all participate in being his students. I have always loved Harry Potter, almost obsessively so maybe? But obviously aware of the problems that it presents and I just adore this community where we can love the Potter verse but also use it as a means to discuss some hard to face realities of humanity. If you love to dissect, discuss, ponder and all things Potter this podcast is absolutely for you!

First off, I adore Professor Wamble. I love how he takes us deeper and makes us think about the characters that we know and love in interesting and complex ways. Harry Potter has been such an integral part of my life since the beginning and remains so (yes, I am *that* millennial), however, I fully acknowledge that there are so many problematic things within this series. Professor Wamble speaks candidly about those aspects that are problematic in meaningful ways that also fully acknowledges the humanity and complexity of the characters. As a therapist who specializes in DBT, the way he challenges us to think dialectically about this work and these characters speaks to my soul.

I am so happy to have found this podcast! Prof JW is so engaging. He gives his opinion but also allows space for discussion and debate. He’s brought a lot of new perspectives to me as an adult reading about child(ren) characters. I also really appreciate that he holds the books, and particularly JKR, accountable for the biases therein.

I’d seen little snippets of his lectures on social and badly wished I could be a part of them. And now I can! Such a fun and deeper way to deep dive and rethink a favorite book series. Keep in mind our childhood and our adult views of the characters.

I’ve always wanted to take one of professor wamble’s classes but I’m well out of college and have no intentions of going back, this podcast is the next best thing! It is fun, engaging, and thought provoking. Julian Wamble is a fun host and has such a soothing voice as well.

Getting to deep dive in unique ways and feel like you’re having a discussion with a professor who values your input and thought process is incredibly fun. When I remember to fill out the survey it makes me contemplate for hours what do good and bad truly mean for me? If you want to think about Harry Potter and its parallels to the real world while not being told what you should answer this is the podcast for you. Plus, the professors voice is incredibly soothing and kind.

As someone who has read, reread and relistened to the books a million times and won *a lot* of deep cut Harry Potter based trivia nights, this podcast puts a whole new spin on old information and forces you to look at these characters and their actions in a completely different way. Absolutely love this podcast and will be eagerly listening for more every two weeks!

I’ve been waiting for this podcast! Each episode is a delight to listen to, discussing the layers of the characters and themes, and not taking things at face value. It’s a great mix of nostalgia, critical thinking, and magic.

Do I need another podcast? No did i immediately subscribe and listen and binge all the TikTok yes I did. I love the podcast and the thought process behind it. I had never thought so deeply about my favorite book series. I look forward to all the future episodes!!! I live for the random song breaks

Smart, funny, thought provoking and so much more…Dr. Julian Wamble has a unique gift and perspective on one of our favorite magical series of all time. Bringing his highly sought after collegiate course material to the world’s ears is one of the greatest gifts to the interwebs. Extremely well done!

I’ve been following Professor Julian since he started making the TikTok videos of his GW class, and was definitely one of those people who wanted to participate so I was thrilled when he announced the podcast and even more so when it was clear he wanted our participation through surveys! I think what he’s doing here is a beautiful continuation of what he’s created on TikTok, and I’m loving the in-depth character analysis. Especially appreciate the take on JK Rowling and the critical analysis of how her biases are reflected in the world she created. Excited to hear (and participate!) more!

Engaging with my favorite book series through critical thinking and academic exploration brings a new level of understanding that is just absolutely precious to me. I appreciate the frameworks Dr. W brings to this discussion and the stories he weaves. 10/10 will wait (im)patiently for each new episode.
