    Older episodes can’t be found
I was interested in listening to an older episode interviewing Jeff Daniels after listening to the John Goodman episode on the Off Camera website. Well looks like you can’t go below episode 175 or so when scrolling back. The episode also does not exist on the Off Camera website either, unless you’re willing to pay to watch the video version. So it seems you can’t listen to old episodes on the website, nor the podcast here on the Apple Podcasts app. I’m sure it’s the same for other apps too. Lame. What’s the point then?

    Great Show
Where are all the missing episodes? Did Sam sellout to some media company and now we have to pay to hear the archives? Later for that.

    The BEST
There is something about Sam Jones! My first listen (Olivia Wilde part 2) I was so moved/changed by universal nature of the Olivia’s experience. I felt so seen! I thought it may be just her but after listening to nearly every episode I realized that Sam has a way of extracting truth, vulnerability, and motifs in the most loving way possible! Such a safe space for the person being interviewed as well as the listener. We get to see shared experiences between us and those who can tend to see as better off or just lucky..it encourages me to believe..I CAN and will do what I dream of. I already am! Thank you, Sam!

    Please date the actual interview
Sam is one the best interviewers I’ve heard in a while. I deeply appreciate how he lets the guest talk without injecting his own stories. When he does comment it’s insightful and leads to a better interview. It’s so disappointing though that it ends up being a very old interview with a date of 2020. Please include the date of the actual interview.

    Why?
First, I like Sam Cook and his interview style.... But please start each podcast description with the date of the interview. I know they are old and re-released from the YouTube channel but it feels dishonest to have a December 2020 date on the podcast with interviews done in 2013... please?

    Fun and informative interviews
So many podcast hosts talk over their guests or use the time to try and shoehorn stories about themselves (which get tedious if you’re a regular listener) in. Sam prepares well, asks great leading questions and actually listens to the guest. Added bonus, his voice is really soothing and relaxes me. Thank you and keep it up!

    Another liberal elitist
I was enjoying this show until Sam started putting this condescending diatribe about Covid and Trump at the beginning of the podcasts. “I’m sure you all feel the same as I do...” No, we don’t Sam. Step outside the echo chamber once in a while. Unsubscribing.

Fantastic and inspiring for creatives especially
I love the deep dives and conversations rather than publicist-approved sound bytes. As a creative myself I always come away feeling inspired and motivated by the way Jones gets his guests to open up about how they got to where they’re at. Highly recommend.

    Best interviewer
I just listened to the Ron Howard interview and finally nailed down why I like this podcast so much. It’s the refreshing experience of listening to an interviewer who is not a syncophant (sp?) and who listens intently, shown by follow-up questions on target -“hey, that’s what I wanted to know” on target- rather than moving to a planned question. Best of all- the guest is not interrupted by the host’s need to tell his own story.

Love the pace and content of this podcast. I’ve watched a few Episodes on tv as well. Very laid back and great conversation, it’s like sitting in a quiet corner of a bar with a good friend. Very very good!!!

    Great Show
I have loved this show from episode 1. A in detail conversation with artists from all walks of the entertainment business. Conducted in a professional but friendly way by Sam Jones. The black and white TV show is the frosting on the cake. I certainly hope they get a new TV deal. 5 Stars Keep up the great work Sam!

    Real Connection
What I love the most about this podcast is that Sam Jones actively listens and fosters real connection in every interview I’ve heard to date. Because of this, we the audience get to feel like we’re a part of the conversation. An excellent podcast that continues to outdo itself.

The podcast is one I will follow as long as you keep putting it out. Listening is just as good as watching and perhaps even better. So if making the video aspect seems to be blocked, don’t worry. Your fans will follow the audio podcast. Keep up the amazing work. It matters. R Lewis Cordell, devoted listener.

Are you a famous artist and wanna chat with a nodding head for an hour?
I think the show has good intent and I understand how many people would like this polished feel-good format with no rough edges but for me it doesn’t work. All the guests are amazing and the very best, Sam is always there to offer up a pat on the back for how well they did this or that and never goes beyond the strictly approved PR line (this I mean figuratively, I’m not claiming I know how the boundaries od the interviews are negotiated and framed), always leaving us with only the best features of the interviewed artists. And like all candy, that leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. I feel the program would benefit from losing glorification of the guests in the intro and at the end. But anyways, I’m glad this think exists and other people enjoy it, I think that’s what matters.

    SHIA LaBEOUF???
So, I found this podcast in the last year and I’m blown away at the depth and clarity with which Sam Jones interviews and speaks so wonderfully about the reality of these huge stars, giving them a place to shine as PEOPLE before PAYCHECKS. So I thank you for this gift of humanity! My only qualm.....THERES NO INTERVIEW WITH SHIA LaBEOUF!
  • jrod4010
    The most thoughtful and researched
No one holds a candle to how much research Sam does for an interview. His conversations are thoughtful, informed, and deeper than the standard “where did you grow up”. I come away from his interviews thinking about something or someone just a little differently. He really sets the standard.

    Like
We drank every time Jenny Slate said “like,” and four livers actually exploded. Very messy. I think-just for her mental health-Jenny should probably only perform for groups of psychologists or Sensitivity Conventions. But it would be funny if she had to do a set for her 7th Grade class reunion.

The best interview podcast bar none
There are a lot of podcasts like this (host talks to interesting celebrities) and some of them are even quite good. But they invariably start annoying me because the host injects too much of themselves into the conversation, making assumptions about the interviewee or obviously trying to find common ground and making it about themselves. Sam is one of the rare people who almost never does that—he certainly empathizes and engages, but has virtually no ego or pretense.
  • quigonjenn
    So great!
I’m not what you would call a “podcast person” at all, but this one was recommended to me by several friends and I’m so glad I finally checked it out. If you are in the entertainment business it is a MUST, and if you’re not it is still going to be very interesting as he talks to your favorite musicians and actors. Sam asks all the right questions, getting into their process, times they almost quit, and how they finally got their big break. It’s truly fantastic.

One of, If Not The Best Artist Related Interview Shows
I found this podcast when I searched for a Jason Isbell Interview. I’ve never heard of Sam Jones but so glad to discover this podcast. Sam has a natural ability to have a natural yet focused artist interview. Artists aren’t the easiest to have these open conversation interviews with. It’s not the typical interview you normally get. It’s completely natural and he gets his guests so comfortable they bring up topics and discussions you don’t always hear in these types of interviews. It makes sense because Sam is an Artist himself. I highly recommend this podcast.
  • KelseyofAR
    I love Sam! Great Show.
I really have enjoyed every single episode I’ve listened to. He doesn’t talk to these wonderful people like he has a list of questions. He is just such a talented interviewer. Totally recommend!

    Sam’s a really solid guy
Sam is such an insightful, intelligent, and well developed interviewer. So many interviewers have weird issues that they project onto their guests and frankly many of the most famous ones are pretty terrible. Two really good examples I saw from him is Greta Gerwig and Alison Brie, both of those ladies talked about stuff like #metoo and trying to combat a male dominated world, and Sam totally just agreed with them and let them express themselves fully! How refreshing. Most male interviewers start the whole “not all men...” thing or kind of cut off the discussion before it can fully blossom. And if it means anything, I am a dude. But yeah, Sam seems like a guy who knows himself and knows a lot about the world, and brings the best out of his guests.

    Great guests
Amazing that this interviewer is able to get these incredible guests. I don't care for the interviewer however.
  • GaiaCherie
    Sometimes great artistic value
Giving it 5 stars because Sam Jones is really awesome. The value of the conversation or better said information depends on the artist. If you’re a fan of the person, obviously it will be great to hear whatever they say. Personally, to me as an actor, some interviews are much more inspiring than others - when guests talk more about the craft and the obstacles they encountered/ solutions than about themselves and fun facts from the sets. Sam always asks great questions, it just depends on the person whether they respond from the place of their egos or the value for the listeners.

    Conversation at it’s Finest
I’ve been a long time listener but a recent subscriber due to the fact I thought I subscribed on day one only to find out I hadn’t. Truly love long format style interviews and these are some of the best around. It feels like you’ve been invited into an afternoon lunch conversation between friends, so at ease and some truly hilarious moments. After an hour listening to Off Camera you fall deeper in love with some of your already favorite people, not just because of what they’ve done, but because of who they are as a person. Will forever recommend.

A great gift of simple conversation...
The phrase ‘I’d love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation’ EASILY applies to Sam Jones’s ‘Off camera’. Because it’s so refreshing, calming, enlightening, and just great to be able to listen to really honest, thoughtful, and clearly articulate folks just talk. I’ve gained so much from listening to just a few episodes so far. From the feeling of not being alone with my own struggles to actual wisdom that was clearly gained through the hard took of the guests Sam has spoken with. My favorite nugget so far was from Robert Downey Jr. when he said ‘To me anxiety is being aware of how much you’re avoiding preparation’. Thanks so much, Sam!!

    My favorite
This is definitely one of my favorite podcasts out there. Not only are the guests amazing but Sam does such an incredible job at asking intelligent, thought provoking and poignant questions which is what really makes this podcast stand out. Bravo!

    Keeps Me Moving Forward
Sam’s interviews are candid, resonant, and equal parts reception and offerings. This man is like my dad out here in LA. LA is an incredibly tough city for young artists without connections or money, and I often second guess what I’m doing. On my worst, most frustrated, broke, sad, EXHAUSTED, or homesick days for the home I wish to build in a city where friends are always moving away, giving up, or moving East (in LA, this matters), I listen to this podcast. It gets me back up writing, hitting mics, updating my materials, submitting, feeling connected, and believing in the long game investment of this dream I will never give up on. If you listen to ANYTHING, listen to the Jenny Slate episode, the Alison Brie episode, the Busy Phillips episode, either Olivia Wilde episode, the Fred Armisen episode, and the Bill Hader episode, IN. That. Order. Thank you Sam.

    Truly the best conversations
Listening to this show has been invaluable source of insight. Sam is a perfect interviewer and his guests are open and honest about their experiences and creative process. Everytime I listen I hear exactly what I needed to feel inspired.

    A much listen/watch!
I have been enjoying Off Camera for a few years now on YouTube and just discovered the podcast! Sam is incredibly talented and empathetic in his questions, and it comes through in how his guests respond. I’ve found his interviews to shed the most light and humility in the world of movie-making. It serves as a reminder that we are all simply people doing the best we can do and on our own journey.

    Fantastic!
I have nothing to do with this industry and have no desire to be a part of it, but this is easily my favorite podcast. Sam is a thoughtful, informed, kind interviewer who asks questions that draws the guest into deep conversation. You see so much of their humanity and their process that you almost forget that these are people whose music you listen to or that you see on TV. Thanks Sam! Keep up the amazing work!
