This is a great monthly (or so) podcast about the happenings in Atari computing from the 80s. They cover some history, new discoveries and products and the fan community. As someone who never used an Atari computer I enjoy listening anyway. So that’s an endorsement if there ever is one. My only caveat is the audio quality isn’t always great. I wish whichever of the hosts is using a gamer headset would get a proper mic to record their audio. It would be much better. Keep up the good work fellas.

When I first started listening to this podcast, I was just searching for the first time for anything related to Atari. I was pleasantly surprised that I found one and that it had recently started. That was nearly 10 years ago! I am especially encouraged listening to the interviews. I was glad that 3-hour long regular shows containing interviews were reset back to their usual length and the interviews turned into their own high quality shows. I was also impressed when I heard about the 10-line BASIC contest. I entered one myself and hope to enter more. I’m sure my entries would pale in comparison to the top-notched entries, but I have had some practice living out my teenage years writing for a Sharp pocket computer with a single-line dot matrix LCD display. My entry was an enhanced port of a missile game. I used to look forward to each monthly and frequent interview show while I commuted to work. But now that I work from home, the current pace of published content is also matching my need for listening. Congratulations on approaching 10 years of continued coverage of my favorite nostalgia and hope to be able to sit back years later listening to new ways to use my Atari 800 home computer. Thanks to the guys at the Antic podcast and the subliminal messages telling me to buy Atari (at least that’s how I’m explaining it to my wife)I went from having 0 Atari 8-bit computers (had an 800xl as a teenager) to now owning an 800 that looks like a junk yard dog bit the corners off, an 800xl that I’m slowly bringing back to life, a 65XE, a 130XE, two 1050s, a Fujinet, Sdrive Max, a 1025 printer that actually prints, a 1030 and US robotics modems and a 410 recorder ….in a pair tree….all in about 2 months after discovering this podcast. My wife is especially excited since now I have yet another geeky hobby that keeps me preoccupied and away from chores (Amateur Radio call KU5D)… Anyways I have learned so much and look forward to listening and learning more.

The podcast is a joy to listen to. I learn new things every show and relive great memories. I put my 130xe away years ago because floppies and hardware were getting scarce. I will be setting it back up now that I know about all the new hardware that makes this wonderful machine useful again. Thanks guys, will be a longtime listener.

Wonderful information and the interviews make the show a really interesting listen. The only constructive criticism I would give is that they seem to avoid discussion of Atari's 16-bit machines and game systems during interviews. While I realize it is an 8-bit-centric podcast, I am interested in hearing about all the history of Atari.

I highly recommend listening to all 200+ interviews to anyone working in a once high-flying Silicon Valley darling now on the rocks. It will remind you that there will come a 30-years-later perspective eventually, that everyone lands and settles somewhere after the workforce disperses in chaos, and that it's OK to keep the good memories of the best place you ever worked before it fell apart. Some of my favorite recent interviews were: David Lubar whose River Raid II game I must have unknowingly fired up on the Activision Anthology in the same room as my kids' copies of his much later Nathan Abercrombie: Accidental Zombie novels, as well as the erstwile APX developer-turned-rabbi by way of a long Indonesian sabbatical and the Spinnaker CEO. I found a copy of Spinnaker's Most Amazing Thing still in pristine condition in its colorful clamshell in the giveaway box in front of Weird Stuff Warehouse in Sunnyvale, which would have remained free if not for the 8-bit I subsequently bought so I could fire it up again 30 years later!

Well made, in depth discussion of all things Atari 8-bit. Occasionally, a little lengthy, but quite engaging in you are interested in this topic. Many episodes are interviews with the major players in the history of Atari.

This is an amazing podcast. It's effectively two podcasts in one. The regular episodes have great coverage of the Atari 8 bit scene past and present. The interview episodes cover a spectacular range of topics and would be interesting to anyone interested in Atari or the 8-bit era in general.

Very informative and thoughout podcast. Interviews open up a wonderful history of the Atari computer scene. Highly recommend a listen.

I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s SUCH a great resource for retro computer fans. The array of guests is amazing, and it’s a lot of fun. Now my gripe - the interviewer seems so unprepared and unengaged. There are virtually no follow-up questions during the interview. It’s like he wrote his intro, has a script of one of two things and then the guest just talks for the rest of the show. I’d prefer if it were more of a conversation with a bit more probing into topics. There are often long, awkward pauses while the guest is on the line thinking of what to say next. Virtually every interview segment leaves me thinking “oh man, the guest just said something amazing, why didn’t the interviewer ask about it!” Actually, that usually happens multiple times per show. I think the interviews could be much better, but despite that it’s still great fun. Hopefully the interviewer will get more prepared, more engaged and improve over time.

Kevin, Randy and Brad do an awesome job with this podcast. Monthly versions with all things Atari 8-bit and a smattering of other current Retrocomputing news. Additionally there are a plethora of interviews pertaining to the life and times of Atari. While I am not primarily an Atari enthusiast I greatly enjoy this one.

I believe it was about a year ago I stumbled across your Podcast. Having grown with Atari 800 since 1981 timeframe I was brought back to an era that holds a special place in my heart. I grew up learning all things computers on my beloved Atari 800 (which I still have in boxes in my garage) which has now translated into a career in IT services. Between your look at what the current devleopments in the communinity are and your continued interviews of all aspects of the Atari 8bit computers community I am always anxiously awaiting the next episode. All three of you bring your unique perspective on the areas you enjoy and that translates into a believable (sometimes silly) exchange between the three of you. Anybody looking to learn about the history of the Atari 8bit computers or who is interested in catching up on current devleopments has no place further to search than your podcast. Well done team !!

Amazing series of interviews - any fan of 8-bit computer should consider this a must-listen. I do wish some of the reviewers had been more prepared for and engaged in the interviews. There were a few awkward pauses and few relevant followup questions. It doesn't diminish this treasure trove of personal computing history, though. Tons of fun to listen to, so still 5 stars. Great job, thanks for putting this out.

You can't kill this machine, even if you wanted too. Good podcast, though lately they've been playing all these interviews, that are fascenating, but they feel long. I guess it's good to get these interviews recorded from legends of the industry, but some of them seem a bit long winded. Maybe a short view with an optional link to the extended review? Format of the podcast is nice, though some of the people recording could benefit from better quality microphones, also a lot of the information could benefit from some fact checking, not going into specifics, but I recall some information about things to be not right, or just speculative. This show has been my gateway to the world of podcasts and 8-bit computing. It went from good to great with the incredible volume of interviews over the last year, though at this rate I don't know if I will ever be able to catch up. Love it!

If you had an Atari computer back in the late 70's-mid 80's, you will love this podcast. Even if you had a competing computer you will probably enjoy this podcast, which includes a lot of interviews with key programmers/developers from those days. Also includes modern development info. Wonderful show!

The interview episodes are especially great for those of us who enjoy computer history.

Found this last year. I am an Atarian from 82-89. Brings back great memories. Enlightens me on what was also going on back then that I wasn't tuned into!

I have been an Atariage subscriber and general Atari fan for a couple years. The enthusiasm and professionalism towards Atari Computers that you all share made me so curious about the original hardware I decided to hunt down an Atari 800 on eBay. I have truly enjoyed each episode! Great job!

I like the Old simpler days. I used to program Radioshack model 1 and COCO's in basic and machine. Atari was my favorite 6502 based computer. By the way the XE65 and XE130 numbers come from the decimal fact that 64K and 128K really are 65,xxx and 130,xxx if you look at the real value. I like the Podcast. A good beginning. Appended to my original 2013Aug22 review: Today 2014-9-27 I heard the guys are going to separate out interviews making shorter episodes. Good Idea 1 hour or less, is easier to listen to!

Great podcast. Interviews with luminaries of the 8-bit personalities are great, and love the interesting segments about what is current in this community.

Equal parts memoir, how-to guide, best-of, and oral history, this podcast celebrates everything that was so wonderful about Atari’s line of 8-bit computers. A worthwhile listen for former and current users, Atari fans, and anyone into retrocomputing or retrogaming.

A little rough around the edges and the hosts will not be mistaken for slick radio talent, but they present interviews with 8-bit-era Atari stars you sure as heck aren't going to hear anywhere else! Kudos.

This podcast rekindled my interest in my old Ataris. Especially love the interviews and the information about new products.

I cut my teeth programming on an Atari 400 back in the early 80’s, and over the years owned an 800XL and 130XE. Man, I loved those computers, and I just love that these guys put in the time and effort to make a podcast about them! If you’re like me and loved the platform but thought it was ancient history, give these guys a listen and you will be very pleasantly surprised!

You guys do a great podcast. It's great to hear both what's going on in the Atari 8-bit computer world and also the great interviews. Although the interviews are about computer and game history, it's also really interesting to hear about the interviewees lives and how the Atari played a roll in them.

I've been an "Atari guy" since my early teens in the 80's. I got a 400 around 1982 and an 800 two years later. I've binged on this podcast over the last few days and really appreciate the combination of insight, news, tech tips and commentary. Thanks for all your hard work and please keep going!

For those of us who grew up with the Atari 8 bit computers, this podcast is a great trip down memory lane. It is fun to learn about new things going on with the Atari 8 bit platform. The hosts are very knowledgable and this podcast is the best.

Been into the Atari 8bits since the beginning when I received a Atari 800 back in the early 80's. Programmed many games, was in a Atari Users Group in my local hometown and ran a BBS with it. Keep up the great podcast!

The only Atari machines I've ever used were the Atari 2600 and 5200, yet this podcast still holds the interest of this Apple II user. Kevin, Randy, and Brad are mellow and open to topics of any retrocomputing flavor with anecdotes and discoveries that we can all relate to, whether it's an interview with an old magazine publisher or hunting down the programmer behind a classic game. I love the detective work and personal history they bring to the table and look forward to each episode.

The Hosts know a heck of a lot about atari computers and talk all about the current happenings in the retro scene about every thing atari. If you care about Atari computers you have to check this podcast out!

It's a great podcast with up to the date news on the 8-Bit Atari world and everything of interest to someone that ever messed with an Atari 800 or 400 in the past. Yeah, there were other 8 bit Ataris, but with out 4 joystick ports, it's a waste. Keeping to a schedule (mostly) and with three hosts it's likely to keep going. Great interviews so far and hoping for more!

This podcast is great for those who might have owned an Atari 8-Bit computer back in the day. My first computer was an Atari 800XL so I have a fondness for the machine. However this podcast is also good for those who have not owned an Atari computer as it also informs you about the history of this series of computes, provide a good guide about Atari books available and sources for obtaining them cheaply, recent developments regarding Atari 8-Bit, and emulation.

This podcast is very informative and has interesting topics for fans of the Atari 8 bit line, but also for fans of other old school computers.

I am an Apple II fan, but am open to learning about other vintage micro platforms. This is the place to go for information about the Atari line of computers, with a knowledgeable trio of hosts who work well together.

You guys did a great job in telling us all about the Atari and the history behine the machine, I will subscribe to this podcast always. I have a Atari 130xe and love my old machine. I am also a APE user, and MaxFlash Cartridge user, and I have it all and much more. At 65yrs young, the Atari runs circles around anything NEW. Folks see 48k and marvel at the graphics, the 130xe is a instant hit with my grand kids, and my own kids want to steal my Atari stuff every time they come over.
