SoyhammadTres idiomas tres amoresJuan has an amazing sense of humor. The podcast I mentioned above is my favorite one. It’s funny but has many words and phrases to learn. Gracias Juan!

FitnessluvaAddicted!I love Juan’s dry humor! I frequently find myself chuckling or laughing out loud at his commentary. As far as his teaching method, it is truly immersive. He uses context and situations to introduce grammar concepts and vocabulary. He doesn’t discuss rules, he demonstrates through context and repetition. It’s so easy to listen to his episodes while doing chores and not lose focus because it’s like listening to a funny friend.

GuestopolesAmazingJuan has been my best friend on road trips, cooking and just whenever I want to fit in extra Spanish. Incredibly useful, interesting and varied. I cannot recommend this podcast enough for learners!

PishipishiakBest Spanish Podcast for Intermediate LearnersI’ve been a university teacher for decades. I spot a gifted teacher from miles away. One learns effortlessly with Juan. If you listen to him repeatedly, you’ll advance faster than using any other method of learning. I’ve tried them all. Juan makes learning fun and very effective. I’m leaving this review after having listened to this podcast for 3 years.

Ruthie in SpainThis Podcast Is The Bomb! This is the best podcast ever for learning Spanish! The repetition that Juan uses really does help me learn (and, more importantly, remember!). I love how he just talks like a normal person and how he explains colloquial expressions. I have become a believer that this is a much better learning method than “studying” grammar or vocabulary. Thank you Juan!!!
-
Carol-BethGenuine TreasureWow, Juan is the GOAT for intermediate+ learners. As many have mentioned, his interesting style manages to make understanding effortless! So grateful for this genuine treasure!

Matt Pavs 1234Great Podcast!!I have been studying Spanish for 2 years and listen to multiple podcasts every day. This is one of the best, if not THE best for intermediate learners. The whole podcast is in Spanish and as others have said, he “teaches” you without teaching. Plus, he has a great sense of humor and doesn’t take himself or the topic too seriously. Highly recommend!

IggybradyFills a voidI listen to one Juan podcast daily while reading the transcript and it has helped me so much. It’s really the only podcast I can find that doesn’t “teach” while still teaching you Spanish. Similar to Dreaming Spanish, but even more natural. This is perfect for anyone not quite ready to listen to Spanish podcasts for native speakers.
-
Stacy G TexasBest podcast for intermediate levelI heard a lot about this podcast because the Dreaming Spanish Reddit thread loves him. Juan is perfect for intermediate level learners. I’ve tried so many other podcasts and Juan’s is my favorite because he’s not boring, he doesn’t talk super slow, he only speaks in Spanish and he doesn’t teach grammar. He just talks about a wide variety of things: his day, food he likes, places he’s visiting. He talks about everything and nothing, but does it in a way that is so entertaining. My Spanish has improved SO much. He has so many episodes you can listen to several episodes each day. I started from his first episode in 2017 and go sequentially. Great job Juan. Thank you!

Stason MetcalfMy FavoriteJuan is an amazingly good teacher. He’s entertaining and really knows how to teach. One obvious method is that he speaks pretty fast but repeats himself a lot. It’s so helpful. He also stays on a topic for a long enough time to really understand what he’s talking about. I’m a high basic learner and this podcast has been one of the most helpful for me to gain confidence, comprehension, and pronunciation skills. The best thing is that he’s an interesting guy who can carry 20-25 minutes by himself no problem. Highly recommended.

J. O’BSpoken SpanishLearning how to speak Spanish like a native speaker. Juan is great at keeping a conversation going so we can learn sentences and words with out straining your brain. Juan is interesting to listen to and makes it fun to learn Spanish. Awesome job thank you for your time.

Rebeccamg1905What a great way to improve my Spanish comprehension!Juan’s podcasts are always interesting. I love hearing stories about his childhood or whatever is on his mind these days. I know my Spanish comprehension has improved greatly thanks to listening to many hours of his podcasts and YouTube videos. Highly recommend!
-
Sairah SvahteeExcellent! My Spanish is not that great but, do you know what is great? Realizing that you recognized a joke being told in another language and laughing automatically. This is a wonderful podcast! I feel I’ve improved a lot by listening to it. Juan’s speaking pace is right on as far as I’m concerned. Plus he repeats the material without it being boring through his stories. He may repeat information from different points of view or different tenses all while drawing you in to the subject. He speaks in simple yet complex sentences that allow you to discern the meanings of words you don’t know. Thanks Juan! I look forward to listening!
-
Klash KlashBrilliant PodcastSuper interesting guy. Knows how to teach Spanish, en contexto! 100% recommend. More culture podcasts, Juan! You are awesome!!!

Me encanta muchisimo.
-
daaokieUcraniaMe encantan tus podcasts.

MarieHTPTHE BEST.Juan is not only a good teacher, what ever activity he offers on line, video, podcast, or live zoom, after just a couple of minutes you feel that you’ve met a friend for life. I had never met such a personable, dedicated, creative, and all around talented teacher. Not to mention his sense of humor. When you write to him, he answers. I even wonder if he sleeps at all. It seems that every moment of his life is dedicated to creating new material for his students. His videos are not classes, they are shows where you happen to learn a ton of words, expression, and, contrary to the rumor (but I am not sure whether it is a true rumor or one of Juan’s “tonterias”,) he does teach grammar. But he makes it easy and entertaining. I listen to him everyday, the moment I don’t need to focus on something else!
-
Ekim GibThe best there is.The best Spanish teacher in the world and this podcast is nothing short of amazing. I enjoy every second of it. Thank you Juan.
-

TravelsafetiosLISTEN TO THIS NOWIt’s incredible, do you want to learn Spanish?? Listen to Juan, he will guide you. Oh my gatos!!!

noprime4miThe best!I have learned so much from Juan and his podcasts—of course Spanish language (en contexto) but history and culture of Spain. I highly recommend his podcast. (Also check out his YouTube channel!)
-
Juan is the most entertaining professor of Spanish. As he always says, “we learn in the context” of an entertaining or enlightening podcast.

BunderbunderCreo que este tío es el tío de todo el mundoThis podcast is officially meant for intermediates, but I started listening to it as a beginner because I wanted to get comfortable hearing Spanish spoken in a more natural, everyday manner from the beginning. It quickly became my primary learning resource. As a devotee of the Comprehensible Input learning method, I find this podcast to be just perfect. Thanks to the transcripts, the exceptional audio quality, and Juan’s lucid manner of speaking, it’s quite easy to understand compared to others that are aimed at a similar level of learner. And his energetic, entertaining manner of speaking makes it so that, when I do need to listen to an episode two or three times to make sure I understood it well, I don’t mind doing so at all. (He reminds me a bit of my father in law’s best friend, who has an amazing ability to keep a conversation moving, even when it’s one-sided.) And don’t miss his YouTube channel under the same name, which is similarly top notch.
-
DTELELEFun and effective!Love this podcast! If you have a good handle on Spanish, this podcasts can help you become more fluent by getting used to colloquial speaking by hearing his stories and explanations on phrase structure. Also very clear to understand!
-
CeunieSuch an enjoyable way to learn SoanishJuan’s podcasts are fantastic. He engages the listener with stories and humor, at the same time teaching the language in context. This is real Spanish. This is learning. And it’s a joy with Juan!

Oso Grande de MaineFavoriteThis is the best Podcast for intermediate Español. Many other are super dry. Boring. Juan is very engaging. Entertaining. I listen to each Podcast a couple times. Then, I print it out and read through it to note down any phrases, key words etc. I look forward to each new podcast and I love his YouTube videos. Keep up the good work!

TonyKusumaAn entertaining way to learn SpanishThe first time I heard Juan's podcast, I said to myself, "Hey, I can understand this guy, so maybe there's a chance I'll be able to master Spanish after all!". Juan is a masterful teacher who knows what his students need. He uses words we can understand to express things we want/need to say in daily situations, and repeats them enough that they become a part of our vocabulary. I listen to Juan's podcasts, watches his video, and have started his online lessons to. Thank you, Juan, for such high-quality content and lessons!

MqwertuAwesomeOne of the best podcasts to learn from. Everyone else sounds like they’re reading a boring script. Juan is exciting and natural. I’ve been listening to him and watching his videos for awhile. He’s amazing!

HiCatWhisperer¡Estupendo!Juan’s podcasts make my daily walk entertaining and informative. I especially enjoy his reminisces of his childhood and changes that came about after the death of Francisco Franco. I spent a school year in Valencia, Spain during 1973-74. It’s fascinating to learn what happened after his death from the point of view of someone who experienced the transition as a teenager. I now consider myself a fairly solid intermediate level with a few gaping holes in conjugation but I find Juan understandable, especially since he tend to be repetitive by paraphrasing himself. It stays interesting because the repetition is reworded so if your vocabulary is limited you can still get the gist of the story. Excellent comprehension practice!
-
wendyann3Keep up the good work, Juan! Thanks to Juan, I have something that has eluded me for too long: the optimism that comes when you break free from a stubborn learning plateau! What makes Juan stand out from all the others? I could say it's his unique and personal take on historical topics, or his engaging stories about cultural icons that round out the whole language acquisition experience...but what really makes it all work is his empathy for the learner and his friendly humor. I now have the confidence to explore all kinds of advanced content in Spanish, but I'll always come back to Juan! ; )

HvbfuyffhyfcuyBest EverI speak three foreign languages to varying degrees of proficiency-I’m a bit of a foreign language enthusiast, so I have been constantly on the lookout for good stuff out there since forever. This is by far the best I’ve ever come across. Juan’s manner is so entertaining, skillful, and interesting that I would listen to the podcast even if it were in English ( my native language). That it helps me improve my Spanish is an added bonus. I highly recommend Juan’s YouTube videos, website, and courses. Simply the best!

Lee in UtahEntertaining and UniqueI love this podcast! So far I’ve listened to 36 episodes of Español Con Juan and have used transcripts of these shows to help me fill in the parts that I didn’t understand. In a short time, I feel like my Spanish comprehension has improved significantly. Juan uses a variety of topics to help make learning both, interesting and enjoyable. I have an 11 year old granddaughter who is in her sixth year of Spanish at her school and wants to go visit Spain after she completes her 12 year language immersion program. We used to enjoy listening to these podcasts together until he started using a lot of “palabrotas” (swear words) that I didn’t want her to know quite yet. That being said, the only thing that really annoys me is how many times he talks about how handsome he is, how he’s a good teacher, and how he has the best site or podcast on the internet. In the 36 episodes that I’ve listened to, I’ll bet he’s probably addressed most of these items AT LEAST 25 times (sometimes even multiple times in a single episode). I don’t mean this as a slam, because he really is very good at what he does, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing to take pride in yourself and what you do. On the other hand though, because I live a very active lifestyle, I usually have a limited amount of time to study each day, so I hate to waste valuable time listening to and reading something that he has a tendency to repeat over and over again, without it really adding anything significant to the conversation. Even though I often find that part to be annoying, it’s just a part of the instructors unique personality and it’s certainly not anything that would make me want to stop listening. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Español Con Juan to anybody who has already learned a little Spanish and is looking to build on what they already know.
