Great at first but over time the unprofessionalism begins to shine
UPDATE: Never did i think id write an update to a review but here we are. You can tell Wyatt is checked out because every time Robb goes on his conspiracy theory rants Wyatt is the only voice of reason and Robb is on his vendetta against gw. Im not backing gw but man take a break you are devolving into a karen whos life revolves around conspiracy theories about a toy company. This podcast is pretty entertaining. Everything I am going to say does not apply to Wyatt as out of all of them on the podcast he is the most professional. Hearing Kenny vape every two minutes in the podcast is extremely distracting and takes away from the podcast, that would be like watching an interview and someone smoking, be professional and put it down the microphone picks it up so loudly that it becomes a nuisance. Rob has his moments but over time it has appeared that he has taken a stance of complaining as his form of investigative journalism. Instead of focusing on the bad why not shout out local shops and broadcast more what is going on there to drive people to go to stores versus constantly rehashing the same issue.

    The Kool-kids of 40K
The Long War podcast is for mature listeners. Notice how I didn’t say adults because my hands-down favorite podcast of all time has no qualms calling out the whiners and idiots of our beloved hobby in between covering the highlights of what’s going on in Tabletop gaming. A tirelessly interesting and hilarious podcast that invites you to the Warhammer Kool-Kids Table, you’ll feel like you’re one of the guys before too long. I always interrupt whatever I’m listening to to catch up on the latest episode. Tune in to their multi-streaming pregame show or enjoy the host’s independent content for more awesomeness and remember that you can’t fool the Djinn!

    Good
It is very good. Rob, Mike, Kenny, and that guy from jack of clubs painting (Wyatt) crush it consistently.

    Fun and learning
This show is very entertaining. Also I would say it is the best place to learn about what to put in your list, and what to avoid. My favorite part is when they say "I'm no math-scientist, but..". The show does have some 'not ready for primetime' language. That doesn't really bother me, but I still recognize it as an overall flaw in general for a show. I don't want to bring it down though. It is definitely in the top five Warhammer podcasts.

    Sexist show
This show is so negative and sexist. If you want to find ways to quit you hobby and get offended, then this is the show for you. Definitely not worth you time with all the high quality 40K podcasts.

It doesn’t let me put less than 1 star
If you’re looking for the worst wargaming podcast, look no further!

Great content on scandals and scene
Love the sort of investigative reporting on cheating scandals, GW, and tournament scene. One minor point - one of them very audibly vapes throughout the shows; it may not be noticed by them but perhaps do it off mic as it is distracting.

    2 Things
That $3 selling price GameStop joke in episode 275 was solid gold. And I’m gonna search the ends of the earth for that Cthulhu DG army

Do these guys even like the game?
Newb player here who just spent money on the SW combat patrol and I was hoping to learn something. An hour In and all these guys have done is bash GW. I’m not trying to listen to that. More about the actual game please.

To the point Warhammer talk PG13 - R for Growns ups
From GW new releases to Army strategy talk - done with humor - it’s for adults who don’t mind frank speech, some crude humor and a scandalous smattering of Profanity with their great hobby and tactics discussions
  • bluecrayon123
Too much unfunny banter not related to episode title
Episode titles are misleading, actual topic isn’t discussed till thirty minutes in. Before that are dumb segments like never have I ever

An always welcome addition to my hobby time
I don’t play the game (yet) and this podcast purposefully focuses on the rules and tournament, but even with that the long war crew loves the hobby and that comes through the entirety of the show. The jokes can be crude and juvenile and yet I still regularly listen because they are a bunch of guys i don’t doubt I’d love to roll some dice while having a few drinks and discussing lore and life. I’ve been listening for about a year and Mike’s passionate discussion on the new 40k and the importance of the avenging sons cover exemplified why the character of these men who love to play with their plastic toys are worth the listen and why you should invite them to your hobby time.

    Good stuff...but
The episode about the new sister’s codex was just painful. So many misunderstandings of the rules and terrible theory hammering that lacked any real understanding of the new rules. Was just a pain to listen to. At least everything prior was quite enjoyable and other episodes are good as well.

    Loving the Long War
I randomly found this podcast shortly after it started. I love Warhammer and had been away from the hobby side of things for about 20 years. I loved what these guys were talking about which was social contract, bring the hobby back and having a good time for both you and the player on the other side of the table. The bringing the hobby back part was getting people to paint there armies before showing up at a tournament to play. That really resonated with me. And then 8th edition of 40k dropped. They have been keeping me up on all of the changes and ideas for tactics as codex come out. I love there attitudes towards each other and the game. This is my favorite podcast!

    Great podcast
I enjoy these podcasts immensely. They stray off topic but I’m always laughing as I listen to them. Good game feedback, but the humor gets me every time. Too much language for my kids to listen with me, but I’m ok with that!

    Great 40k Hobby/Competitive Podcast
These guys have some great chemistry together and you can tell! They sincerely have great conversations about the 40k community and everything that revolves around the hobby. They all know their strengths and weaknesses and go to one another on certain subjects in the podcast. These guys have been at it for years and they are truly veterans of the community. I always look forward to every new episode and what funny banter and great competitive strategy is to be had with these guys! As always, keep it icy!
  • jtwargaming
If you get it you get it.
Man. Where can I start. I started listening to these jokers a few years ago and haven’t stopped. Yes they BS around; yes they make jokes and quote movie lines at each other; but they also break down the rules, meta and armies like no one else. If you sit back and just chill you’ll soon feel like you’re part of the crew and that kind of entertainment you can’t put a price on. So if you’re not down to make jokes about how awful it is to get iced maybe you just don’t get it. If you do, come on in and join the long war. PS Magnus did nothing wrong.

Not sure what Rho-873 is talking about...
I’ve listened to this podcast for awhile and haven’t felt compelled to review until I read RHO-873’s one star review. Sounds like they’ve got an axe to grind because I disagree with almost every point he made. These guys are friends and like to talk about the hobby. This comes across on the podcast as they have an easy, ball-busting what with each other. There’s no “forced humor”. They are all very knowledgeable and are generally able to provide good insight on new codices and changes to the meta. They don’t always hit the mark, but they’re usually close. Sometimes the ads are a bit much, but they have high production value at least. It’s not just a cast member reading a card.

    By Far, The Best
I’m not the worlds biggest Warhammer aficionado which is why I appreciate so much when these guys delve into the rest of the geek world and nerd universe. The content is fresh. Everything is current. And the guys really have a good flow and great report, which I have yet to find on any other podcast.
  • JJ_706
    That’s the silencer!
Pew pew pew that’s the silencer will have me listening for a long time! 😂 I enjoy the content on the ride to work even tho I’m new to Warhammer. This show shaves the learning curve down some.

    Keeping it Icey
Great to hear Kenny, Juice, Haspel and even Rob every week keeping the 40k scene real and relevant. Every episode is informative and the non 40k content is also highly entertaining! Keep doing what you do!

    Sh!t Stirring goodness
Great weekly content. These guys love to stir the pot. Jake - Back to the Warp podcast

    Top notch
Still the best in the game, still relevant, still bringing that hobby back. If you are a 40ker of any stripe this is your show. Casual/paint/tourney it’s all here and not boring. Looking forward to that fresh episode every time it drops.

    Vapid Braggarts
Five minutes of superficial discussion of the topic, then thirty minutes of self aggrandizement. Loads of shilling for sponsors, begging for money, and plugging their other media.

    Not a true 40k podcast.
Have listened to several episodes and found that they spend way to much time bull$&!*ing. Sometimes 30 minutes goes by before they actually start talking about what the title of the episode suggests. There are other actual 40k podcasts I can listen to without wasting my time on bs.

    Off the rails
Used to have alot more substance, sometimes the first 20 minutes are just bantering about nothing. I dont know, there are alot better choices now...check out Independent Characters/ Heroic Intervention / Forge the Narrative...and Age of Darkness for some serious 30k lore and painting tutorials. My .02

    Not Engaging or Inspiring
Was looking for a new podcast to try out. Kept listening to episodes hoping to start liking it. Definitely not for me. There is not much talk about the actual game (rules, lists, techniques, etc). It is mostly bros talking about their drinking exploits. Huge wastes of time talking about what is for sale in the hobby (that’s what websites are for). A suggestion would be to make the listener feel like they are part of podcast, not intruding on a private conversation.

Yo Dawg, I heard you like 40k
A great 40k podcast with an excellent cast and fantastic insights into the 40k scene. I find myself skipping to the main topic though as the market section is not that interesting to me.

    An hour of hobby fun
Live listening to this podcast every week on my ride to work. This group of guys has a great time sharing their views and advice on new 40k releases and the current state of the warhammer 40k universe. Can’t wait until the next episode.
  • Rho-873
    Not very helpful
A lot of ads, forced humor, and them pumping each other up. I suggest you listen to other podcasts if you want to actually learn about 40K or any GW games.
  • Lance Hollywood
    Love the long war!
I have heard every episode these guys have put out. I love their personalities and the content they provide. They know the hobby and provide some awesome insights on the game. I find myself excited every Wednesday for a new podcast. They are the best in the business in my opinion. Some people have a problem with their promotions but the difference between the long war and the "other guys" is that the long war is a lot more than a podcast, it's their careers. I'll take the long war all day every day hoes.

Good show, aside from scraping audio
Pretty good 40k show that is almost ruined by the model cleaning scraping noises in the background.

    The way it should be
Amongst the glut of 40K podcasts, YouTube channels, blogs this is the podcast you should be listening too. Rob, Kenny and Juice are definitely passionate about their hobby. If your a 40K fan you awe it to yourself to check these guys out in all their formats: podcast and YouTube. When I get lazy with my gaming and painting it only takes a few minutes of these guys in my ear and I’m charged and ready to go. Aways remember CHAOS for life!

40k podcast veterans unsuccessfully branch off.
As a big fan of Rob and Kenny on their previous podcast I was disappointed to rediscover them on their new venture. The Long War is too full of shameless self promotion, not-so-gentle reminders to buy kickstarter merch and begging for donations and joining a paywall service. Perhaps there is more solid content behind the paywall, but as a stand-alone the podcast does little to make the average listener spend the money to find out. IMO not really worth the time in an already busy field.

    Bringing the Hobby Back
Yo Dawg, this podcast's crew has been bringing the hobby back since the dawn of time. The icy grooves of Rob, Kenny, Juice, and now Mike, are the soothing balm our aching hobby muscles so desperately need. You want the swole hobby passion and goodness, but don't know where to look? Do you need that ripped pump of deliciously sweet, hot, fast, and nasty hobby goodness like baby Jesus in his ghost manger? Do you love cats and over-the-top GW spoilers? You've, literally, arrived at The Long War, literally.

    The 41st Millenium's Renaissance
A splinter of the Forge the Narrative podcast, these guys bring the hobby back to our game. Discussion's on modeling, painting, tactics, and exploring the aesthetic side of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Best when imbibed with the group's plethora of battle report and tutorial videos. I truly can't say enough good things about what Mr. Baer, Mr. Boucher, and Mr. Fore are doing for the hobby. Renaissance men, the lot of em'.

    For Love of the Game
These guys bring their excitement for the game to their show, and a nice variety of personalities and perspectives that keeps the show entertaining. This is a great place to get all kinds of information to support whatever version of 40k you connect with; modeling, painting, and playing.
