HC💫Intriguing, Riveting, Thought provoking….I just returned from London and spent some time in the East side, even partaking in an evening ‘Jack the Ripper’ walking tour…When I got back to my room that same night, I searched for a good, historically accurate ‘Ripper’ podcast….”Dark Histories” popped right up…It was my first time listening to it!! Amazing work, Ben!! I don’t want to listen to anything else now :) I am fascinated with history and I appreciate the fact that you have stayed true to researching and providing factual information involving these cases!! Thank you for creating such a unique, much needed podcast experience!! Bravo!!

Troy MyoolerGreat, would recommendHonestly, everything a crime podcast should be. Great topics, level headed host, soothing voice, no crazy music or audio clips that interrupt the flow of the story.
-
MoonbeamMatrixmy favorite podcastNot only does this guy have such a nice soothing voice, but he also really does his research and goes deep into the topics he covers. Everything is always interesting and never bores me, and I like how he always has a bit of a chat at the end putting in his 2 cents. Overall it’s my favorite podcast right now!
-

LuneuhhCozy and a little bit spookyBen is fabulous, it’s obvious how much research and time goes into his work. It makes you feel cozied up at a fire hearing tales just spooky enough to give a shiver and keep you entranced.
-
GEFtheMongooseThe best!!There are many podcasts like this on the Internet, but this is the podcast to listen to for creepy history.
-
OrchidCelestialEyesSoothing, Educational and highly addictiveI listen daily. I started late to the game so soon I’ll be having to wait. But having the opportunity to see the growth over a short time has just made me love this show. Keep it going. No shortage of dark history lol Update 6/12/24 I started your podcast over again because I simply could not find another that had as soothing of a narrator. You should record audiobooks! I’d buy them all!!
-
Becky978Talk About Anything, Forever.Such an absolutely engaging podcast, I’ve been listening from the start! As an American, whose tone of voice and lack of anything even closely resembling “British Class”, please continue this pod forever! Read us the dictionary or, the 1987 West Cornwall, Connecticut phone book. “Dealer’s Choice”!
-
Cornerstone1976Well doneThis is a well down podcast. It manages to report on the mysterious without going over the top into weird conspiracy theories. Good stories for the most part and well done.
-
HarnessUnseenOne of the best!Always look forward for the next episode 🤘🏻🇺🇸🤘🏻

-
AmbrecitaI love Dark HistoriesI stumbled across it looking for Victorian stories, Ben nails it! The atmosphere he creates is excellent. His storytelling is immaculate. Also - his voice has me binging! So good. I’ve binged the whole first season this week. All my friends are on it now too. The way he brings history to life is truly inspiring. Also he has a cute dog - that could be a twin to my own pup. Who doesn’t love a pet loving, mystery historian that writes and reads aloud this well. Props. Thanks Ben! I love it.
-
JayEliza28I love this podcast!I found dark histories last year (2023) and this has quickly become my favorite podcast!
-
mv8528Love itIt’s clear that a lot of research, time, and care are put into each episode. It’s not more of the same old stories that I hear over and over on other podcasts. Great narration, love the way the stories are told, and a very pleasant voice to listen to.
-
SweetpeasownerMagical giftHow is this so amazing? How is this free? It’s like I just discovered Christmas! The variety, the depth, the length, the tintillation, the mystic, the lulling voice. Thank you a million times over! So grateful.
-
CallieEdwards777A favoriteWas recommended this podcast after clearing out my subscriptions at the start of this year. I used to listen to a LOT of true crime podcasts, but recently learned of some… iffy behavior from multiples hosts from different shows. I love Dark Histories the same way I love Most Notorious: to the point, minimal silliness (I do love when you crack up laughing while reading), focused on the matter at hand. Keep it up, Ben!!
-
RterralAbsolutely fantastic!A huge breadth of topics and each given the same meticulous research makes this show endlessly fascinating. It is delivered with humor and skepticism as well as a very human sensitivity towards the topics and humans involved. I binged years worth of shows so fast that now I’m spoiled and want a new one every day!
-
Jen PeepWell researched, great stories!I love the different perspectives and stories shared! Not the mainstream stories other podcasts might cover. I love history and the influences the past has on more recent events- ties it together!
-
Bribabe80Waverly hillsLiving in Louisville, I absolutely loved the episode. So much accurate research Ben does for each story. Loved learning tidbits about the history that I never knew. Thank you so much! It was fab.
-

C. YodikurFascinating, Well Researched, Best Narrated Pod!Love this podcast! It feels like a friend telling you a story about history, and they’ve done a lot of research. I like how he does a kindof analysis at the end and shares his thoughts. Such a great voice too! Great job, thank you so much Ben for this amazing work.
-
Mike9865777543EnjoyI enjoy this pod very much. Informative without being too dense. Great job!
-
flbbtbxhjnMy favorite! The host chooses varied, unusual topics, from Victorian era murders to spooky folklore and unexplained mysteries. This is a well researched show and the host has a fabulous voice.
-
Christina CaudillWonderful podcastI love the host/narrator’s voice. And he sounds like such a kind person as well. Thank you for this!
-
3211413One of the bestThere are so many history/true crime adjacent podcasts, so it’s hard to stand out. Ben does it. My partner and I have been listening for 3 years, and Dark Histories is consistently one of the most solid and reliable podcasts in our feed. We literally could not wait for part two of the Gef the Talking Mongoose episode. Ben’s personality shines through, too. He definitely comes across as someone you would like to know. And the research! Thank you for such a fantastic show.
-
Ruby’srevengeGreat podcastThis was the first podcast I ever listened to. Loved it then and still do. Thank you to the host for all your time researching.
-
LexrrlWell researched, amazing voice.Ben could narrate anything and I’d listen.
-
piveryWhat A Great Podcast!Within less than a minute, I knew this would be a great and detailed podcast. Not silly or with goofy side kicks, they are just very informative and very hard to stop listening to. You come away from them knowing a lot more than you were expecting to get and I cannot recommend these more. Well done Ben!
-
JBT10942Great podcastFor some reason it will not let me rate it. But Ben, I would give you a five if I could. The podcast is great. The story’s are interesting, and your voice is very easy to listen to. Keep going, you’re doing a great job.
-
Fletch1320Dark Histories is what you have been looking for.I have been listening to a lot of podcasts on any number of topics. If they are good and informative or entertaining, they are usually too short. If they are long enough to delve deeper they have way to many commercials or the host(s) jabber on about nothing other than what coffee the like or the 19 ways to support them. This podcast is definitely worth your time. Great subject matter and informative. Ben is easy to listen to and is invested in every episode, you can tell from his research. His show is the only one out of my twenty or so podcasts I support. If you like a uninterrupted story with minimal requests this is truly worth a listen.
-
Demanda RetractionSo grateful he’s not a drama mamaThe host just tells the stories in a soft voice and lets the weirdness speak for itself. Much creepier. The amount of research he does is impressive, too. I listen to a lot of true crime and I’ve heard the same stories covered over and over, sometimes repeating things I think are errors. This podcast brings receipts.
-
drwhocompanionLove itEverything about this podcast is stellar. The stories, Ben’s voice, the unique topics.don’t change a thing,,it’s perfect!
