This show cracks me up when I’m doing mundane work. Very nostalgic & very funny.

My young daughter has recently been into the old Goosebumps episodes so I’ve been spending a lot of time rewatching them. And I have a lot of funny thoughts on it and no one to talk about it with. Finding this podcast has been delightful. I feel like I’m getting to rewatch episodes and chat about it with friends. Thank you for making this.

i only have a handful of podcasts i listen to and private island presents is one of my top favorites. their schedule is always consistent so you have new episodes to listen to weekly and look forward to them. it's really fun to hear you guys talk about such nostalgic shows. i always find myself having a laugh. between weeks i will find myself relistening to episodes. way to go you two, i will be listening forever!

I have never seen Are You Afraid of the Dark. I have no nostalgia for it at all. I love listening to this podcast though. The hosts have me in stitches and talk the way I would to my friends about tv shows. I enjoy tuning in every week. Keep up the great work guys.

For those of you who don’t know, “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” is one of the most memorable 90s Nickelodeon TV shows ever, not just because it was a children’s horror anthology, but because it griped the hearts and minds of every 90s Kid watched it growing up. Here, Courtland and Brandon take its listeners down memory lane, but don’t put on your nostalgia goggles just yet; While Courtland grew up with the series, Brandon is going into it with a fresh pair of eyes, thus giving us a unique perspective of the TV Series from opposite angles. It’s delightfully refreshing, to be quite honest. With each tale, the dynamic duo analyzes, dissects and relives the nightmares buried in our memories, and in doing so, demonstrates how some stories have aged quite well, while others haven’t. They immediately hooked me back in Season 1, and I’ve been a dedicated listener ever since. While my only nitpick about their podcast is the occasional coarse description of characters and plot (mostly swearing), I still find this podcast radiates a professional quality, allowing me to rank this in my top 3 AYAOTD-Themed podcasts just behind “You Scared of This?” and above “Are You Afraid of the Podcast?” If you love this show and want a little something extra to your listening experience, download a few episodes right now and try them out. Love this podcast. Recently started rewatching AYAOTD for laughs and found this pod. Keep it up! Can’t wait for Tale of the Shiny Red Bicycle (don’t know why I loved this so much as a kid).

My new favorite podcast! These guys are hilarious and Are You Afraid of the Dark is great source material for taking jabs or celebrating. They are always available for their fans to chat with about anything.

I was stoked to listen to this podcast after seeing a post about it on r/horror. I loved Are You Afraid of the Dark? as a kid and I thought it would be fun to revisit it from an adult’s perspective. Five episodes in and I can’t go any further. There is no suspension of disbelief, resulting in lots of commentary that clearly shows the hosts are taking this 90s kids show far too literally. Are they being deliberately obtuse in an attempt to be humorous? I don’t get it. It’s also apparent that the hosts don’t really do a lot of research outside of rewatching the show, which is understandable since they obviously have real lives and families and I can’t really fault them for that. Kudos to them for putting themselves out there and making an effort, but it’s not for me.

I really enjoy this podcast and I would have given it 5-stars but there’s one element of it that bothers me. I’m certainly no prude when it comes to language but the way the two male hosts toss around the word “b***h” often lobbed at the female characters they’re discussing, most of whom are young girls, is jarring. I love AYAOTD and I’m so thrilled there are podcasts dedicated to the show. I highly-recommend this podcast.

They know what they are talking about and they keep you interested the whole time. I’ve never watched the show, but with the spectacular attention that the pay to each detail for the show, I feel as if I have watched the episodes. Give it a listen!
