    The big question
Is there any unnamed passengers on board the Night train??? Rudy Ackerman said in episode 13 that that everyone in the lounge car with his passengers, we listeners new, but in episode 18 it seemed like there were more people in Pullman’s car then the passengers we know

    Captivating story!
My boys are completely obsessed with this story and have listened multiple times. Love the Christian elements and find it overall beautifully done. Would prefer less use of the word “stupid” (just a warning if you’re trying to avoid this for your little ones) from the children and disappointed they did not choose better vocabulary!

    Fun story and fantastic production
My children loved listening to this! I enjoyed the story (which had a few twists!), the characters, and the acting. The plot and details are very well thought out and explored. The production value is phenomenal- music, sound effects and the voices of the characters were so well done. It reminded me of what an old radio broadcast story might sound like. The dialogue was very realistic (although Edith and Paul were often used to describe things for audio-only purposes), and at times I was laughing about something that was said. I also loved seeing the Mallards Catholic faith in action- in some prayers but mostly in how they treated others and the relationships they formed. I would love to hear more multi-episode stories like this!

    Wonderful Podcast!!!
On the night train is an amazing podcast! My family and I listen to it alll the time. My younger siblings beg to listen to it over and over again! The relationships that the mallard children have with some of the passengers are incredible! We have probably listened to each episode 6-7 times and could easily do it again! With greatest love The Kings 🩵

Listen again and again and again and again and again….!
My family of four little men LOVE this podcast. We have listened to EVERY episode at least 5 times. They can recite the episode titles in order. Better yet, they knew the book and chapter of this past weekend’s gospel by heart because of this! ❤️ Thank you, Merry Beggars! Please make another series like this! (And, if we could give you 10 stars we would!)

Snakes alive! This show needs help..
I don’t even know where to begin with this train wreck. I’ll be generous since it’s an original story but I finally crawled through the story and abandoned the night train about halfway through the last episode. I found myself wanting to give double lamb’s tongue to the enemy after this. He seemed better than Mr Pullman- even if Pullman pulled a classic bad guy come good guy at the end.

    Edge of our seats!
Our family loved this story! My kids kept begging to hear what happened next. We can’t wait for a new story, but we’ll definitely be listening to the night train again! And as a mom, I can’t say enough how much I appreciate a good family story that incorporates in a simple way our Catholic faith. Thank you!

    Decent Story, Irritating Voice Acting
The Merry Beggars’ production of A Christmas Carol is excellent- so I had high hopes for On the Night Train. We listened as a family on a long road trip, but by the fourth episode I couldn’t stand listening to it due to the nearly constant yelling by Edith and Paul. Nearly every line of their dialogue is delivered at a needlessly high pitch (I can tolerate such in moments of real peril and urgency, but these only happened occasionally), frequently shouting or whining. As a mother who listens to plenty of that in real life, I don’t want to listen to it in a radio show. The dialogue could have been executed in a manner much more tolerable to the ear- more conversation, less bickering. The rest of the van continued to listen to it; I had to put in my earplugs.

A Mystery for the Whole Family
The mystery part of this podcast was good enough to keep us listening, but some adults will find the exposition and religion of plot points tiresome. I’m sure it’s mean to keep younger kids engaged and that’s fine, I just think the writing could have been better in that respect to accomplish the same thing without literally reappearing things over and over. And I also could have done without Paul Mallard exclaiming “Snakes Alive!” More times than Samuel L Jackson says the F word in Snakes on a Plane. But I still give this podcast 4* and would recommend it since it does engage the whole family and that’s rare for podcasts. Definitely a nice road trip binge if you have young kids.

I thoroughly enjoyed On the Night Train. I couldn’t wait for the next episode each Sunday. Please bring us more mysteries like this one.

    Great but a little cheesy
This is a really cool story although it’s a little cheesy lol. I love mystery's, but it’s hard to find good, interesting stories that aren’t so secular. I love the Christian parts! Even though these stores probably meant for younger kids, I can still enjoy it as a teenager, because I still can’t figure it out! The actors and actresses did a great job! The only reason I didn’t give 4 stars is because of how cheesy it is. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the great content.💖

    Awesome story and performances!
Thank you so much for doing this Merry Beggars! All the actors performances are great, unfortunately it’s sad to read people complaining about petty stuff such a the kids voices! Keep up the great work you ALL are doing! My family and I are really enjoying this story and can’t wait for more! God bless you!!

    Fun entertainment!
The only thing that would make it better is being able to listen to next week’s episode faster! It’s such a great story, well-acted, with well-developed characters. The kids are fantastic! I don’t listen to many podcasts, especially not fiction, but I never miss an episode and I’ve recommended this show to family and friends.

    Too much repetition
I’ve made it this far (episode 16) so I’ll finish, but there are more negatives than positives here. As I said in the title of my review, there’s too much repetition of information—how many times are Edith and Paul going to tell each other that they’re stowaways, for instance? Then there’s the fact that for people who are trying to be stealthy, they yell A LOT. They don’t listen to or show respect for one another, they don’t even follow their own advice, and they constantly jump to conclusions. Then there are the adults, many of whom are dismissive, behave in a contradictory manner, and/or are downright mean. I enjoyed their reading of A Christmas Carol, so was hoping for an entertaining audio play.

    The best
Oh my gosh episode 17 like blew my mind that Sam was the Wagner man I thought want to be Kate Smith or preceptor professor dopey but or George Crocker I am so surprise it’s one of Pullman worker i’m just surprised that it’s the conductor Sam Lewis Because you know that Keith Smith is like hiding Jules under bed In a room if you haven’t seen that episode yet go back to episode 10 of and bison or professor dopey dad because he has maps where pins where the the the sabotage sabotage this happened and if you haven’t seen that also goes back to Allison bison But the only thing that doesn’t make sense to me it’s Sam uncoupling the luggage car because there’s a chance that he might fall off the track like on the cart might just fly off the track or another train behind The night train just crash actually I just thought again that even if he does he will cost to accident why are you a crash the night train up after Clift if you haven’t seen that go back to the episode 17 or second that and the train behind them Will crash into the luggage car

    Good story, poor dialogue
I like the general storyline. The mother’s voice is nice and soothing, same with Harold’s voice and Rosie’s. But the kids are constantly bickering, screaming and/or whining. They constantly repeat like a broken record: We have to save the night train, etc. It becomes annoying. In the last few episodes, the children are terribly disrespectful in conversations with most adults on the train. If they are supposed to be heroes, at least make them a little more deserving of the role. I don’t like the idea that they will be praised as heroes in the end after back-talking so badly, not to mention snooping around where they shouldn’t. They could have been presented as more respectful, while still being very concerned and suspicious. I don’t blame any of the adults in the story for not believing them or respecting their parents. These “hero-kids” are a disgrace, and reveal very bad upbringing.

    Whiny Voices Make Show Unlistenable
On the night train presents good Catholic values but Edith and Paul are extremely immature for their age and time period. Edith is constantly complaining about how scared she is for the majority of the episodes. Paul doesn’t have a proficient vocabulary like he says he does and he can’t even call someone by their own name and instead uses an idiotic nickname. He also is constantly taking risks and almost getting brutally killed. I cannot express how annoying their voices are when they get anxious. Edith is constantly yelping “MOMMA!” And “DADDY” in the most horrible way it makes me want to punch a wall. I really want to listen to this show and enjoy it but their voices makes the whole experience dreadful. So Merry Beggars, Please choose wisely when you are casting voice actors. 3/5 stars

    Refreshing storytelling
The heart the actors have to tell this story keeps me hooked. Along with the voices and clever script, the sound design transports the listener back in time. I am entertained by the story and have learned more about the world when trains helped shape our growing country. Well done, Merry Beggars. I look forward to more stories!
  • smiles1122334455
    Good but…
The characters are a bit under age for the way they act and maybe you guys should make a tween and teen Version that’s less cheesy love the show

    Wonderful for Families!
Our whole family loves listening to this awesome show together. We look forward to it every Sunday Night after dinner. Beautiful portrayal of truth, goodness and beauty. We love how loving the Mallard family is to each other and how they stand up for what is right. Keep up the great work!!! Thank you!!!

    A fun and entertaining listen
I’m really enjoying this podcast. It’s a breath of fresh air from the other fiction podcasts out there. The sound design is wonderfully realistic. The young voice actors are talented and engaging. I caught myself exclaiming, “Snakes Alive…” the other day!!! I’m really glad I found it. Well done.
