My nicknam is LuSerious binging happened tonight!!!On my lonnngggg drive from H-Town to Oklahoma! You guys filled all five hours drive (and you are que’d up for another 2.5 hour drive tomorrow). I Love this show!!! Couple of parallels: Paul’s dislike to listen to himself on the podcasts- sounds to me that his voice resonates with listeners and fans much like some of us do with the voices of the ABC guy that states “….will be back in one minute.” After the initial into of each nights lineup. Or Sean Connery, Sam Elliot, Josh Mankowitz, Kieth Morrison, and so many SUPER voices we love to hear!!! I didn’t give any favorites away, did I? Kate, you are amazing! I love your other podcast TenFold More Wicked too, I must find it so I can finish the series. I also found y’all’s conversation about contacts and eyeballs brought back a memory to me. I had just gotten the extended wear contacts, and had no idea how to get them out of my eye. So, I just wore them for seven weeks straight. No problem, right? (Just five weeks too long). Then one night I was on a tractor (yes a John Deere tractor plowing a field) and got dust in my eyes. Man that hurt!!! So the next day at my “other” job- the retail job that actually paid me- my eyes hurt so bad. So, I went to the break from where we had a huge floor to ceiling mirror, sat down in the floor determined to get those contacts out of my eyes. As I’m sitting there trying to get the nerve up to put a finger in my eye (Paul!) to get this done, my manager walks by. He teases me a little & then says, “You hold your eye open while I grab the contact.” To which I said, “UUMMM, You hold my eye open while I grab the contact.” So, definitely get the resistance from both of you on retrieving you contacts!!! BTW- I got pretty good at it and then had Lasix.but, now I’m old and I have to have glasses again, ugh!! Ok back to cases I heard tonight. On the case of the disappearing wife, I think she knew what was happening. The manner that she went out and took the kids back across the street and left them. I think her killer may have held the baby boy as security she would follow instructions. Or it could be the ratty uncle (or an unknown) came around and either told her to get her daughter to safety, or she bargained for the kids safety, knowing that would be all she could do for them. I’ve recommended this show to so many other! Keep up the good works!

MistressFallonAd overkillGood informative podcast killed by an excessive amount of ads of great length
-
Nikki1492Too many two-partersI used to like the podcast but recently, the episodes seem to be artificially stretched out, resulting in effectively hardly any content for 45 minutes and unnecessary two-parters. Perhaps it’s the other way around: They want two-parters to begin with and then unnecessarily put lots of words with little information in 2 x 45 minutes.

EmdagsLong time listener, first time reviewerLove Kate and Paul as a team but gotta say I was surprised in this weeks episode that Paul hadn’t really heard of the Pinkertons and I’ll think I’ll make a drinking game out of every time Kate relates a case back to her book. Great work guys I look forward to this show every week.

SnowstudioheatherOne of my faves!Hooked on the combo of Kate and Paul—love the storytelling and compassion and the interesting details. Workigk ky way through the archives and check for new episodes weekly. 🙌🏻🙏🙏🙏💕🌟

TXDMCCold HeartI think Arthur’s wife contacted Ed playing it off like she was angry about the affair between Arthur and Alice and made Ed think she wanted to have a rendezvous with Ed to get even but in fact it was a set up. I think the mother in law was aware and staged the scene after Ed was killed. Arthur and Alice were each others alibi. Tx State CJ major. Arthur had told on many accounts that the was going to kill Ed.

Jenn SouzaJeffrey Macdonald episodesJust recently stumbled upon your podcast. Great show. I did want to make a correction, however, regarding something you asked about in the Overkill, Jeffrey MacDonald case. There WAS blood spatter in Kristin’s (youngest daughter’s) room that was typed as Colette’s blood,, thus proving Collette did INDEED most likely go into Kristin’s room to protect her and she was finished off there.

hsdevoLove all of Kate’s shows!Love all of Kate’s shows and this one is just stellar! My only ask is that you put the victims names in the episode write up. Love to sleuth about old cases and sometimes it’s hard to get the proper spelling. Highly recommend for any true crime fan though!
-
Quel the belleLove the stories but12 minutes in and we’re just beginning the story. Yikes!
-
Kara0714In Love!I’ve been listening to you, Paul and Kate for a while now and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU BOTH!! I love the scientific details you give, Paul. I love how your knowledge as a former/current detective plays a huge part in the storylines. Kate, I love the cases you bring to the table. I love your candidness and how so down to earth you are. You both are a blessing in my true crime life and I want to thank you both for being so amazing at what you do!! Keep up the fantastic work! Love ya both! Kara J Heath

fraidofshadowInteresting and informative, well researchedThe hosts’ backgrounds compliment each other’s strengths. Interesting and informative work, thank you for the professionalism shown victims and their families
-
HsrfgghhffgbhJust Captivating! This podcast is everything I could ask for! The stories and perspectives both hosts provide make every story captivating. This is not your average overly scripted and rehearsed true crime podcast (iykyk) and they actually know what they are talking about! I look forward to every episode and recommend this show to any fellow history and/or true crime lovers!

Lebarnes4Outrageous adsThe ads have gotten outrageous. Can’t listen anymore, it’s driving me crazy. Obviously you need ads to make money but this is absurd. It’s like every 7 minutes. Worse than cable TV!
-
kylienmFascinating True Approach!I love the different perspective approaches of Paul and Kate are wonderful! But there’s very little speculation without basis, a modern forensic approach to historical crime. Love their voices and conversations, always on my podcast roster.
-
HeyHelloKarenThe ads are insane, but I’m sticking it out…Why? Because I’m pretty sure Paul dislikes Kate in such a beautifully passive aggressive way that I want to be here for the inevitable explosion (with popcorn at hand.) But for real, the ads. Like, how bad is business for exactly right for there to be THIS many ads?!
-
yveseliseMy warm hugI love both of their voices. Together, I feel like I’m listening to 2 trustworthy, genuine people who would be nice to me LOL. For that reason, I especially like to listen to this podcast while working. Brings down my stress level! I also just love historical true crime. Show is well done; professional sound quality and presentation, well researched, and respectful to subject matter.
-
WhatweirdmusicRespectfully produced and exceptionally researchedPaul and Kate continue to bring integrity to true crime podcasts. I’m so grateful to have been introduced to these exceptionally smart and thoughtful voices in this space: a true crime journalist, professor of history, incredible author Kate Winkler Dawson, and the dream boy retired cold case investigator Paul Holes who is directly responsible for solving the cold cases that kept me up at night. These two are legendary. Thank you so much for your contributions to this genre, to the pursuit of justice, and your thoughtful perspectives on these stories.
-
TheQuiltedMoosePretty goodI want to like this and I mostly do, but the two part episodes are so annoying.
-
AmandikangLove/hateThis show is great. I love the content, the stories are engaging and Paul Holes never fails. The try hard witty banter led by Kate is pretty cringey sometimes. Kate also gets this laughable voice going for the ads like she’s cosplaying an actor and its also a little off putting (i’ve had friends veto the podcast on roadtrips after the first ad but IMO its nothing you cant skip over).
-
EndCapitalismNowWhat happened?!Is it just me or does there seem to be 100 ads per episode now?! I tried to listen to the latest and gave up a third of the way through because there were so many stinking ads!
-
Kalina bo-binaGreat listen butAm I the only one triggered when Paul talks about a 150 pound woman as being heavy and overweight?
-
StopBeingGullibleManages to get worseNever the best podcast and full of inaccuracies but the ads and pointless banter do a great job of frustrating the listener and fill time to hide the fact that the story itself is maybe 20 minutes long. Total cash grab at this point. Paul is too good for this nonsense.
-
Nicola Em<3The ads can be a bit much but Skippers Unite! As far as the banter, I feel they hardly talk to each other and I’d love to hear more about them; Kate loves to dive into a story haha.
-
Creative Arts DirectorGreat show but ADS way too manyI do like this show and the format of solving very old unsolved cases. The cases are interesting and good finds not well known at all. The two hosts work well together and are both very good. My complaint is the amount of ads. It’s way too many and it becomes irritating. You going to lose some listeners because of it. Please scale down for your audience.
-
tiptophoopsHistory plus murder plus Paul Holes!!Best show about historical murders!!
-
Faydo29Too many adds😔You two make a great team - enjoy the banter and the way you present and articulate the information. I learn something new from each episode.
-
DenverNon-hiker7MehThis podcast doesn’t really offer any unique insights-many of the things they mention are basic things anyone who’s ever watched any true crime shows would have at least elementary knowledge of. A bit boring
-
Jocelyn102Great show!Love this show! The level of ads is a bit crazy— 20 minutes in and three sets of commercials already.
-
BTRiley123Interesting - Cases & DuoI’m a big fan of this podcast - it has quickly come to rival my love of MFM because I so enjoy trying to guess what details Paul will zero in on next! I already knew I loved Kate’s depth of knowledge about the eras they often discuss and respect for research from her show Tenfold More Wicked. Only complaint - I hate waiting 🤣 I’m the type of person who waits for a whole season to be released on Hulu before bingeing it. So, much like Paul was noting the recent Cigar Girl episodes I have to wait two weeks when they release a two-parter so I don’t lose my mind waiting for part two. Their different backgrounds, personalities, and perspectives always keep things interesting - and Kate does a great job hopping around the timeline to keep things fresh. Give this show a listen - you won’t be sorry!
-
Grace310804Surprised (in a good way)I thought I wouldn’t like historical true crime as much as modern day events, but Kate and Paul make it so educational and insightful.
-
Twitchy13StalkerI believe that the offender did have a grudge against the family. As a felon, he probably very much desired the “happy family” that he was never going to have. So he committed this crime to break up the family.
-
Kdog_B12Too many ads, too much chatterI have listened to this podcast for years, but now there’s an ad every five minutes and the first 10-15 minutes are spent with off topic chatter to lengthen the episodes. It’s a shame, this has become a money-grab.
-
SldykemaExcellentDay one listener and just love the way you two work together sharing your expertise.
-
YcgonzalezWould prefer single episodesThere’s been too many 2-part episodes, please stick to only 1 part episodes. The chemistry isn’t great. I always skip the chit chat in the beginning.
-
alp735Paul Holes is greatKWD is just annoying. I’ve listened from day 1. She picks kind of boring cases and then strings out the telling of the story in the most annoying way. Ugh. Paul Holes is the best.
-
Pink CrimeBest in the bizI’ve been a happy listener since day 1. I’ve listened to other podcasts with these two separately, so I was ecstatic when I heard the announcement they were making a podcast together. If ads bother you, just skip past them. 🤷♀️
-
pegaloochGreat podcast!I really enjoy this post! Each episode is so interesting and well done. I am glad to have been introduced to these two through Exactly Right, after starting with My Favorite Murder years ago. It has a good balance of personality and information and the stories are intriguing.
-
Putty McCleggI look forward to Wednesdays! This review is long overdue. I’ve listened to all of Kate Winkler Dawson’s podcasts and of course as a murderino I love Paul Holes. I also love history, especially the dark side, and I love hearing about forensic techniques and detective work from the professionals. So Buried Bones has it all! Wednesday morning is my housecleaning day and this show always engrosses me while I do my boring house chores. Whenever I see that new episode waiting for me on Wed morn, I think, oh goody!
-
J-HasteMy absolute favorite!!This is my absolute favorite podcast. Your voices are perfect together and the way you weave together the past with modern Crime investigative practices is amazing. I eagerly await Wednesdays! Jennifer
-
Simpsons211Great show, WAY too many ads nowLike the title says, great show with some interesting cases, but WAY WAY too many commercials now than in earlier episodes. It’s like watching TV, every 5 minutes there’s an ad.
-
al monkPerfect duo! These two were meant to have a podcast together! Literally the BEST!
-
Elizabeth_K_Fascinating Story TellingI very much so enjoy this podcast. Paul Holes’ take on old cases are so interesting, and Kate does a great job of picking cases. However, please place ads better! They start playing mid-sentence. It’s so disruptive to the story. Can you find a different placement or add some transitional music?
-
Kanstense11Historical and FantasticThis is one of my favorite podcasts. I appreciate Kate and her research along with Paul’s forensic feedback. The stories are fascinating.
-
annajacobyI look forward to every episode!Paul and Kate are true professionals and I love listening to them so much. The cases might be old, but Paul’s contribution to the discussion is always incredible and I learned so much every single time. I highly recommend it!
-
Khoffman4Not just another true crime podcastStumbled upon this show and fell in love with it. It’s not another set of young woman that are difficult to listen to because of their vocal fry and poor use of English. These are intelligent, well spoken adults that present a clear story. It definitely holds my attention. Two thumbs up! Keep up the great work!
-
Nezzie59One of my favoritesBuried Bones is one of my favorite podcasts! I love hearing about old crimes and how new science with Paul Holes would approach solving them! Thank you!
-
JennyJuBeeOne of my favesUnique and great storytelling! Love hearing from you both!
-
eselshorOne of my favoritesThis show is awesome. Love y’all’s voices.
-
GjsirbfnskLove Paul HolesTitle says it all- I love Paul Holes. He brings so much to the podcast. Kate Winkler, ugh. So annoying.
-
Disappointed with CrayolaStop interrupting mid sentence.I tried to like this show but they’ve now begun interrupting mid-sentence with advertisements. No warning, no break. It just sounds like the host starts rambling about products. Won’t listen again. Too bad Paul Holes, you’ve done much better.
