IvakotaNice mix of storytelling from the authorsThis podcast is different than most of the shows I follow as it is told by the guest rather than the host/investigative journalist and is the perfect length, tone, and mood to listen to just about anytime of day. The authors she has on are great at giving us the best of their stories without having to read the book, which is nice. I really like the podcast.

BschoraSpoilers in the Trailers. Why is so much information exposed in the trailer? Example S11. I almost don’t need to listen to the episodes. The entire story is outlined. What fun is this? The other thing that was difficult was listening to the narration of one of the interviewees, The Shell Lake Massacre. This author sounds like she is on the verge of crying during the entire show. That’s rough. She way internalized the story, so much that I had to fight just quitting the listen. Sure she’s remotely related to the story, a story that is 57 years old, but a writer’s job is to tell the story. Be emotional in private with a trusted supporter.

Lee GeraniosEliza Borden storyFirst “often” is pronounced “Offen.” The T is silent. Second your hatred of white people and white men is tiresome. “The patriarchy.” So boring. You apply present standards to historical figures. In King Phillips War you say only Indians were killed. Those mean white people. The Indians gave as good as they got. So stop saying “white people.” It’s a racial slur. You do this in almost every podcast. Those bad white people.

Bookgirl618She’s goneLoved the episode but your guest sounded like she was talking through a bad land line connection. Hard to listen to.
-
VioletshikibuSmart showVery thoughtful coverage and interviews, glad to listen to such an experienced and informed expert.

hsifhebancoehwbbchTen Fold will be missedI just binged through season 12 of Ten Fold More Wicked and at the end, Kate announces that this is the last of the show. She will be focusing on Wicked Words and Buried Bones going forward. That made me sad and compelled me to write this review. I just love Kate as an author, writer and podcast host. I could listen to her talk all day Lol. But Ten Fold was a little more special to me because she deep dives into the subject’s families and we got to hear background stories that we otherwise may never would have heard, if Kate didn’t interview the families and friends. I guess I just want to thank Kate for 12 amazing seasons of the show and say that it will be missed.

I know that my heart and Kate please realize how special you are.

CMiddleIslandSay It Isn’t So!I’m so sad to hear this is the last season. I have loved these seasons of TMW. I have listened to them all at least 3 times through. Kate is a lovely story teller and I’m grateful to have journeyed into the past with her!!
-
BMWEinNC03Thanks!Thank you for a great series! I wish you well and look forward to listening to you on Buried Bones and Wicked Words.
-
KiktonksThank you to the Tenfold teamI've been truly touched by the incredible work by this podcast and its team, both Tenfold More Wicked and Wicked Words. Thoughtful without ANY indulging in voyeurism or "trauma porn," Tenfold treated its stories like these people were people, even hundreds of years ago. I have often wondered at how Tenfold would approach the many stories it didn't highlight in its twelve seasons, wondering what Tenfold would notice that other true crime podcasters do not. There's a real kindness in seeking to witness a person's final moments, and in understanding their killer. Thank you Tenfold for teaching me how to hold the truth with kindness, to allow people to be complicated and nuanced, even centuries later. I'll be relistening often.

CZ MartinsThis can’t be the last season!Say it isn’t so! I love this podcast and just learned this may be the final season. I love Kate’s writing style, her calming voice, and her research topics. I actually traveled to Boston from CA just because she makes me fall in love with any place she covers. At least I still have Buried Bones.
-
JJbrklynFrom Episode 1I’ve been a listener since the beginning and love every season. So sad this is the last but glad I’ve had the opportunity to listen to them all!

Rich JesterTitle: A Captivating Dive into True Crime with "Wicked Words"I've been an avid listener of the true crime podcast "Wicked Words" for a while now, and it never ceases to impress me with its gripping storytelling and thorough research. The podcast not only delves into fascinating true crime stories but also provides a wealth of recommendations for true crime novels that have become some of my favorites. Through "Wicked Words," I've discovered incredible books like "American Predator," which offers a chilling account of one of the most elusive serial killers in recent history, and "Feud" by Dean King, a riveting tale of a historical conflict that unveils the complexities of human nature. The podcast's host has an uncanny ability to connect listeners with great authors and uncover revelations about real history that many people think they know but are often surprised to learn more about. The depth of research and the engaging way in which stories are told make "Wicked Words" a standout in the true crime genre. If you're a fan of true crime and enjoy uncovering the layers of history through well-researched books, this podcast is a must-listen. It's not just about the crimes; it's about understanding the human stories behind them, and "Wicked Words" does this exceptionally well. Highly recommended!

tcrazyhouse5Excited for Season 12…I love listening to KWD, and the thoroughness she puts into her podcasts. I was sorry to hear, while listening to MFM, that Season 12 will be the last for Tenfold More Wicked. I’m hoping she continues with Wicked Words and Buried Bones! Great job Kate!
-
lynnskipsobvious stretchi love KWD and stuck with these seasons for a while but it’s obvious there isn’t enough detailed information available on these old stories to support this many episodes. The unfunny and unsupportable conjecture is hard to listen to.
-
TildaJeanCursed? That claim is just silliness. Imagine how many descendants of the! “great, great, great grandmother “ have NOT become axe murderers. Also, if places are cursed by previous tragedies, Europe must be overridden by ghosts. A waste of time.
-
LoptyihgftioAmazing true crime podcastI LOVE this podcast so much more than the typical true crime podcast. I’m not like really into history or anything normally, but this podcast takes me away to another place, another time, another life. The way it is narrated and structured is so perfect, it’s like reading a really good book that you are so immersed in , you feel like you’re in the story. Excellent, genius, and a real “page turner.” The only problem is, I can’t stop listening to it!
-
DecoolzI do love this podcastHowever, in the April 15 2024 episode one of the experts says “they were burning witches 90 miles away.” I assume he was talking about Salem, and that is factually incorrect. No one was burned to death during the Witch Trials. As a podcast that talks so much about facts and digging deep to tell the whole story, I’m very surprised that slipped in. Otherwise, this podcast is fantastic. I am loving how this story is being told. I’ve only heard it told as a “spooky urban legend” before this deep dive.
-
SafetyForKidsGreat history hereThis is closely aligned with my own family history- Great Migration, followed Roger Williams to RI, went with Hutchinson to New Netherlands, etc. It’s Wonderful to follow this story!
-
Shakalaka1Love season eleven!“Fire and Brimstone” is by far my favorite season so far, and we are only two episodes in! I truly didn’t want today’s to end. :)
-
jOmammadI need more!I have binge listened to all 10 seasons in 3 months. AMAZING! Keep all this great stuff coming
-
magnabellaWhy the weird breathy delivery?!?I tried again but still can't listen to KWD on this show. I love her on Buried Bones because she doesn't do the weird breathy delivery when speaking. On this podcast, she ends every sentence with this breathy emphasis that is annoying and distracting. When she speaks to the guests, her voice is very pleasant. I truly want to listen because the subjects each season seem intriguing but I rarely make it to the end of the first episode because of the way she reads her narrative. I don't know if she's going for drama but it translates to my ears as a bad attempt at being sultry and I can't get past it.
-
eemarnieCrime and history intersectWith meticulous attention to detail, the host delves into real stories, offering listeners an immersive experience into the murky depths of the past. What sets this podcast apart is its commitment to accuracy, meticulously researching the surrounding contemporary history to provide context and depth to each tale. In this way, the stories intersect with the past providing a captivating and authentic experience for those fascinated with both true crime and history.
-
projectgirlFirst several seasons good, butI have stuck with this podcast because I like the interviews with journalists. I find the long form series extremely boring with endless sound effects like footsteps in the gravel and endless eye rolly repetitive content. I always come away with the thought that a wiki page could have given me all of this without dragging it out with poor sound quality interviews. If you’re going to tell a story in long form rather than a quick read, it needs to be told in a compelling way.
-
HandyraeTwice as long as neededLet me preface my review by saying I love history, Colonial Williamsburg, and podcasts. Because of all that, I was excited to listen to this podcast, but wow is it boring. This story could have been told, and told well, in 2 or 3 episodes. You can imagine how much padding was needed to get the show to 6 episode. Apart from repeating the same points over, and over, and over again, the host went on all sorts of ridiculously unnecessary tangents. Perhaps the most ridiculous was talking about Edward Kennedy and the 1969 Chappaquiddick scandal.
-
Box DiggyAddictingKate is a remarkably talented story teller who has a gift for choosing and researching the most intriguing of tales! I love this podcast.
-
Lightning121710Great research!I really want to listen to these stories, but I just need more vocal inflection to be able to listen. Every word sounds the same.
-
Steve7219Excellent story!I love Kate’s storytelling, I can’t get enough of this season. This is a fabulous story, historical true crime is so fascinating!
-
Clb4211Cringe- Found out that I’m John Blair’s granddaughterMy paternal family history in Virginia is pretty ugly. I heard “John Blair” and “Robinson” and knew it was familiar, given that I’d just invested significant time into Ancestry.com. Sure enough…. This is my family. Wondering if you found anything else about John Blair that you’d be willing to share. My IG is seebee1124.
-
Darlabell51Awful!I just can NOT listen to thistle hosts voice is so annoying!! Plus she has a lisp or something, I thought the name of the podcast was Temples Were Wicked, that’s the way it sounded to me coming out of her mouth!
-
McFortySixEnjoy thisI really enjoy the story telling aspect of this podcast. I also like her other podcast Buried Bones and am currently reading her book Death in the Air. The story telling without outside input is a nice break in True Crime genre.
-
Hoj215Just wish for episode numbersReally enjoyable, and easy to follow the narrative. My only gripe is the lack of episode numbers, so it can be very difficult to see which is next in a series. Especially as all seasons are lumped as one show, but have different names.
-
beangirl70Look forward to listening every week!Kate is so awesome at presenting these stories/cases! So interesting and leave you pondering.
-
Mrs Skinny SkipNew series about old VirginiaI now have a better understanding of the British crown’s greed to rule and tax the new American colonies.
-
Bird NHKate FanI have always been a HUGE Kate fan . . from her articles to her books to her podcasts (I have them all!). However, I just listened to the first episode for Ten Fold More Wicked Entitled: The Virginia Elite and I am not sure I can listen to anymore. . . .THERE ARE MORE WORDS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE THEN “MOST”. “ The most powerful . . “ “ The most elite . . . “ I even started counting and thinking it would make a great drinking game to get drunk . . .drink every time Kate says “MOST”! You have always been one of my favorite authors . . .use a thesaurus and expand the vocabulary please!
-
NothgirbSo excited about season 10You have to listen to this podcast if you don’t, you’re crazy Kate does such an amazing job best storyteller ever!!!!
